  1. Yup... I bought 2 from him when he changed to Sequence pumps. The seal is the key to the motors not leaking. The marine abrasive seals are made of a harder compound that will not scratch from the smaller particles.
  2. agree with reefnjunkie... When I had deep water acros, I kept them low in the tank or somewhere where direct light is not hitting the corals. they can turn brown with too much light.
  3. Undertsand where you are coming from and sucks when crap like this happens.. even at Franks house but turned out to be a happy ending... but just gets harder. Good luck with your trades!
  4. are you kidding Tim!! He'll probably be taking more pictures of your new corals now that he is closer to you... Now I have to go to your store when you open so i can put pieces on reserve. (clap)
  5. Not sure what parts you are looking for, but you can try Fry's (Wilsonville), Enu Inc (Hillsboro, Portland).
  6. thanks. Do you feed flake or pellets to your fishes and do you have an air pump installed on the unit to keep the food dry?
  7. I'm looking into an auto feeder (dry food of course ) after reading the tank of the month on another board. The guy uses an auto feeder to feed smaller portion of food through out the day which sounds like a better way to feed your fishes.. So I'm wondering if anyone locally is using an auto feeder and which one do you recommend? Thanks Jim
  8. completely agree with Rick.. that's how I wire up everything at home.. and yes, I do take the chance with live wire... just don't create a close circuit.. only touch 1 wire at a time.

    Lights out

all my LPS and SPS open up at night with or without my moonlights on. Then again, I only feed phyto after lights are out.
  10. Which ones do you have?
  11. Thansk movinfast. May take you up on the offer. I like to replace my VHO for mainly the heat it produces. 6 x 160W does produce some heat and with the MH on, my tank can go up by 6 degrees. I do have fans in the hood to move the hot air out and a chiller to keep it cool and the sump is kept in a 65 degrees room. So anything to reduce heat will be great.. and some electricity if possible.
  12. I have 3 x 400W MH (10000K). The tank is 30" deep. Is that 3W for each bulb?
  13. was looking at this product, but with all blue LEDs http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_viewitem.aspx?idproduct=XX08200&child=XX08200&utm_source=mdcsegooglebase2&utm_medium=cse&utm_campaign=mdcsegooglebase2&utm_content=XX08200
  14. Just wondering what you would do if you had a choice of LED or VHO for supplementing your actinic? The cost is coming down and maybe with LED, you don't need to cover the same length as your VHO bulbs. I'm currently running 6 x 6' (160W each) Super Actinic VHO and do replace them every year. If I can get the same result with less LED strips, heck, why not. They wil pay off right???
  15. Hey Jon! Doesn't the Reeflo provide marine abrasive seals? I have been running my Dolphin 5600 as a close loop and have not changed my seal in 5+ years and hasn't leak or have any salt creek. The seal is about $100 but well worth the money.
  16. is it the multi-craft in Tigard?
  17. Thanks. You gave that to me or a link to it. It was very helpful.
  18. I'm in if this is possible and will even order it today. Oh, I am also receiving the Apex Manual that was originally shipped with the controller. When I get it, I'll convert it to PDF and can send you a copy. Thanks Jim
  19. do you know if it is possible to just buy the EB8 without the controller? I would be interested in buying 2 or 3 more EB8.
  20. if you use the white ones, then i'm concerned why they are black and charred. Might be a connection issue in the caps.. As for bulbs, I have used ones, but they are 6ft long each. If that works for you, they are yours. Or they will find themselves to the hazadous waste station. Jim
  21. Thank you jackaninny... That's a very comprehensive manual. I'm interested in the programming side of the device. I updated my lighting control to minic that of the Sunrise/Sunset and my moon light to the moon cycle. Just want to know what else I can do... next is to setup the breakout box for water detector sensors and water level detector.
  22. I'll have to hit Frank up to borrow his. I haven't been to a m.eeting in over 4 years.. will have to try again someday
  23. Thanks Kim (not Beth). They are good at helping, but just wanted a manual on hand that I can read without a magnifying glass so I don't need their help. I have been programming my unit and really do like it.. I'm going to extend my unit to also monitor my kids freshwater tank.
  24. can you take a picture of the end caps.. there's only one type of end-cap that I trust in a wet environment.
