  1. Nice! I have the same tank. I love what you've done with yours. I will have to update my thread with some pics. I like the overflow too.
  2. Go To Home Depot and get a garden hose Y adapter($5), a 1/2" MPT x 1/4" John Guest fitting ($5)and a 3/4"FPT x 1/2" FPT brass Reducer($2). Unhook the cold feed line to your washing machine. Connect Y adapter to the hose bib. Attach washing machine hose to 1 end of the Y. To the other end of the the Y, attach the 3/4"FPT x 1/2" brass reducer. Screw in the 1/2" x 1/4" JG fitting to the previous fitting. Now you plug in the feed line from the RODI to the 1/4" JG. For the drain line, run about 2-3 feet down the washing machine line. The pressure from that faucet should be in the 40-60 range which is better than under the sink usually. Just don't use the washing machine while making water. Hope this helps!
  3. Welcome to the site! It sounds like you have been researching alot. You may want to reconsider the 6-line wrasse, as they can become quite territorial amongst other wrasses. As long as you don't plan on adding and other wrasses you should be ok though. Just try to add him last.
  4. That's not the one from the 125 is it? Looks mighty happy for the first day Bob! Tank looks great too, looks like the scribbled wabbit made a dent in that algae you had.
  5. You got lucky. The first batch of 12 went FAST. THey were all sold within a day. Patrick brought in another 12 on friday I think, and there's only a few left. I'm pretty sure they are not aquacultured.

I'd suggest taking the 6-line out and put him in the sump, or another tank for a while and let any new wrasses establish themselves for a week before adding him back. My 6-line is named "Attila"

I'd bet a dollar to a donut that your 6-line is the culprit. They are a territorial fish especially towards newly added wrasses of the same species or any other wrasses.
  8. Saltwater fanta-seas just got some in. Nice green ones with pink tips. They go quickly at less than $50 and they're pretty good size (6-8")
  9. They only heat up if they are built up with CA deposits. Mainly around the driver (impeller). But the #4's only use 8w, so you're using way less energy for incredible flow.
  10. It is bleached. If it is eating it will recover and be a deep red BTA. When I get a split that goes unnoticed, and hides in the rocks for a week or 2 that is what happens to my roses. It does look very nice, for awhile but they always go back.
  11. The Eheim pumps are dead silent, and use about half the electricity than a comparable mag pumps. IMO worth every penny.
  12. Last time I was at Saltwater fanta-seas(saturday) they had some. 5"x5" colony for 40 I think.
  13. Either choice listed will do GREAT on a 20 long. I have a 20L as my RBTA prop tank, and it's being lit by a 400watter right now. I have used 4 24w T5's, MH with actinic supplement, and VHO only. I think I even used PC on the tank before too. It really depends on what you plan out to keep in the tank. I think there are some really good 30" Fixtures with T5's. Aquatronica? I can't remember off hand, but they're a little pricey. Prolly the best way to go would to get a canopy built, and run either retrofit VHO's or T5's or both. If going with either of those, go with a shorter canopy.
  14. So, either the price of the Maxijet powerheads went WAY down(last i checked they're about 25-30 bux) or you're getting the MJ mod parts for free. + $10-15 for the magnet. I'd rather go the Koralia # 4. Plus the Tunze uses 7w of electricity, and the koralia4 uses 8w. MJ1200's use 20w. Less watts = less heat
  15. I use both Hydor, and Tunze. The Koralia #4 moves some serious water, and the flow pattern is pretty wide. The Magnet holder is OK, but I think the Tunze wins in that department. The Hydor magnet is a little weak, best on 3/8" thick tanks and under. I also have 2 Nanostream 6025's and the best thing about these pumps is how easy it is to re-direct flow. The Magnets are very powerful, I'd use them on at least 5/8" possibly 3/4" thick tanks. The nanostreams in the beginning had all kinds of issues, but mine have ran flawless for 4 months. Nice flow pattern too. Not so much of a V pattern like the koralia. I like the look of the Tunze better, but who looks at powerheads? 6 of 1 and half dozen of the other.
  16. [language filter], I miss my old FW days. I may have to set up another tank. I used to breed Alonacara, Labs, and Tropheus. I must be crazy to think about setting up a Cichlid tank, which is to blame for me HAVING to buy a big tank for growouts. Of course I have no regrets. Doran, Got any pics of the fry?
  17. trust me, my photo skills suck too. I usually have other people take pics of my critters. Anyway, there are a bunch of colonial anemones that that pic resembles. Either way, they're cool until they start overpopulating. They aren't easy to get rid of or to isolate, as they tend to let go and float around to where you don't want them. As far as I know, the do not sting humans. They will sting other corals though.
  18. Kind of a blurry pic, but it looks like Majano. Cool lookin' buggers but they multiply like wabbits.
  19. Are you using a ph monitor? Have you calibrated it lately? As for salifert PH test kits, I have never been able to get into the 8.3 range with them. I quit testing PH LONG ago. Dripping kalk at night for ALL evaporation was my best solution.
  20. If you're looking for a glass tank, try Saltwater Fanta-seas. They're also a site sponsor and a great LFS. If going the acrylic route, James @ Envision Acrylics is THE best. Hands down.
  21. Excellent info, and great resource!
  22. Feed it Patrick's(if you have) Gumbo. They love it and they're able to eat it faster.
