  1. Before you dumped the cash on a LED light system be sure to do your homework. I have seen MANY people on the www.reefcentral.com forums trying to sell them, or just ranting about how terrible they are. Dont think of this as shooting down the idea, cause it may work great for you. Just do your research first so you dont get burned. Also, a 150w halide over a open top tank like the one your interested in will transfer very little heat. It may turn out you just dont need a heater =D Welcome, and best of luck. Oh and also, check the "used goods for sale" forums here, and on reefcentral. You may find one of those lights for cheap if your patient.
  2. Unfortunately I dont have any other frags atm. I just happened upon a huge colony of these and figured Id pass out some frags. Message me if you want to set something up. Also, i would like to go to the meeting at franks, if anyone wants to meet me there I can bring with =D
  3. I pretty much never head south. You gonna be in portland anytime soon?
  4. I am looking for around 100 pounds of fiji live rock. I would be open to other types or rock as well if it is really nice. I am especialy looking for large/extra large pieces.
  5. I have three tangs in my 120g. A Blue Hippo, a Yellow, and a Sail Fin. I have had them for months together, with no issues, and no newly introduced fish. Today I noticed that my Sail Fin was missing both tail barbs, and has some damage to its left side. This isnt something that I would miss, so I know it had to happen today. Anyone have any input on what I should do? It seems fine in that it is not pale, is swimming fine, eats well, and doesn't seem to have any issues with the other fish in the tank. Its acting completely normal. Thanks in advance.
  6. I have several frags of the following for $1 per polyup. These are called "Purple Fission" according to Zoaid.com. I stole the pic from there site because my camcorder sucks at anything macro and I dont have a camera. This is exactly what they look like though. Will make frags of 15 or more polyups. Willing to trade for other interesting zoas or ricordia. Edit: I will be going to the meeting at franks house. I am more than happy to bring frags there. So far I have frags for R-3, Spectra, and Reef-Fisher. Let me know if anyone else wants anything.
  7. The stand has two completely removable front panels. The left and right banks of false drawers simply pull off opening the entire front. Im sure it would be easy to install hinges if you wanted to. Same for the hood access. There is a center support.
  8. The following are for sale. Im willing to take reasonable offers. (Tenatively Sold) -Pair of TANK BRED Ocellaris Clownfish. 1.5"+ $14 each or $20 for the pair. (Not mated, just friends) (Tenatively Sold) -Three Pajama Cardinals - Silver Dollar size - Schooling - $10 each or 3 for $25 -Medium Size Rose Bubble Tip Anenome - Very healthy - 6 or 7 inches wide when open. Very nice color. $80 (Pic is old and blurry, but you get the idea) I can get better pic if requested. Large Green Frogspawn - I like it but I get a bad skin reaction from it - 8+ heads. $45 The pics (except the RBTA) are obviously not the real pics. Ill take some tomorrow and try to post them.
  9. This is a pic of when I was just setting it up. Much fuller now, but you get the idea. Heres a shot of the tank now, with the stand.
  10. I am selling my TruVu 125W tank. It is 48x24x24 And has radiused corners.. It is not even six months old and has been well taken care of. It has 2 small scratches, but otherwise is in perfect condition. It has been modified with a 2.5" overflow in the upper right hand corner. It also has a return spout in the upper left. The back and bottom are painted a soft blue. I was blown away as to how bright it was when I first got it set up. The blue on the bottom makes for a great look if you go bare bottom. The stand is meant for a 75g tank (48x18) but I built it up to hold the extra depth. It does not look like a "Normal" fish tank stand. More like a nice piece of furniture. I am asking $450 obo for the tank and stand. I am even willing to deliver it within a reasonable distance. Let me know! Edit: Im not selling the tank without the stand, I dont want it sitting around. Heres a link to there site. Note the retail price. http://www.truvuaquariums.com/ma00125w.html
  11. Welcome man. I ride downhill also. Currently rockin an '07 Bullett, and a BlkMrkt MOB for my dirt jumper. Catch ya around.
  12. Bought the tank/stand today. Thanks for the help loading it man. I got pulled over on I-5 just before 205 cause of my stupid alaska/oregon lisence plate dangling in the wind. Dont know how he saw it with the stand sticking out of the back. Was about 1/2" of hail in it when I got it home.
  13. I will have to find a pic but I have some very nice really neon orange zoas Id love to trade for some "nuclear greens" or "Purple Death" I also have about a dozen other kinds, some common and some not soo much. I really want those two frags. Lets work something out. Phone number sent in PM.
  14. I am getting ready to move my tank to my new house and am doing some modifying to my system when I re set it up. I am looking for a tank (preferably 75g+) to put my fish/corals in while I do the transfer. If anyone happens to have something laying around, please let me know. I can buy it, or "rent" it for a few weeks if that worked out. I am also looking for an old beat up acrylic tank that is 3-4 ft long that someone wants rid of for cheap. Can be ugly as sin, doesnt matter.
  15. I have been in constructruction for quite some time. That being, I would definetely recommend gravel. As said above use 3/4- (three quarter minus). Dont add sand or anything like that. It would be in your best interest to dig down 2-3 inches, then fill it and compact it. If you place it next to your house, be sure to consider proper drainage as it can act like a pool and seep all the water into your foundation. Theres a place on Division and about 115th. People dump old concrete there, then they break it up and re sell it. Its cheaper then normal quarry gravel, and is from a more sustainable resource (being it is not mined). I got a 12 yard truck delivered for about 125 bucks. Plus, it compacts really nicely. Even better then normal gravel imo.
  16. Also, what is your water change schedule like?
  17. I strongly suggest you avoid any/all hermit crabs. They get big and knock stuff over in your tank and they will eat your snails. Some say the red legged or blue legged are nicer, but whatever. They still eat your snails. It sounds to me that there are more deep rooted issues in your tank that need to be figured out. GO ahead and dump a HUGE clean up crew in your tank, but in a month when theres nothing in there to eat there just going to die off creating other issues. I think people would be more able to help you if you told us a bit more about your tank, then we can narrow down some things that might be causing the problems. On another note, the "red slime" algea is typicaly cyano algea and is commonly caused due to lack of flow. I have never heard of people getting rid of it by reducing the flow in there tank. All in all I think adding that much of a clean up crew is way too much for a 40g. Like I said, dont look for a solution without first figuring out what the issue is.
  18. I owned a few eMachine desktops in the past and they are fine if you dont do any gaming. There power supplies are generaly underpowered but otherwise. Note, the system you listed will be fine for surfing the net or doing some typing, but Windows Vista sucks (dont worry it will get better and they will patch it, but its still in beta form). Dont get me wrong, vista is the way to go because by the mid/end of this year everything that releases will be made for vista but meh, I still dont like it. As a suggestion, check out www.pcclub.com They are a great place to get computers locally and I wouldnt go anywhere else. They have several stores in portland and beaverton area.
  19. Holy crap. Called Tap plastics and they said a 4'x8' piece of 3/4 inch cell cast acrylic was $298 and they couldn't even tell me what brand it was.
  20. Checked it out. Thanks. Unfortunately is extruded, and I need cast. Also, there are many types of acrylic and "plexiglass" is not what you want for a fishtank.
  21. The link said I must log in to do that.
  22. Ill trade ya that 20 polyp frag of my orange ones you liked for that large one you have if you want. I live like 10 minutes from town center so Id be able to meet you wherever. I have a meeting at the union hall at 5pm today, so call me whenever. Ill PM you with my phone number.
  23. Might want to check out www.ZoaID.com You will find that some zoa's, as stupid as it may seem, can go for over $50 a polyup. I'd be happy to hook you up with some really nice stuff for cheap, but my frags are slim pickings right now.
