  1. Alright, thats all I have been able to find also. Was hoping to find a source for larger fish, but I guess it just is what it is. Thanks for all the input.
  2. There are several people locally who do acrylic stuff, myself included. But for something that size, James is the man. his work is second to none. Just keep trying to get ahold of him. I'd try emailing through his website.
  3. Trying to plan the stocking list for my new tank and am interested in stocking only tank bred fish. I know I can get clowns, dottybacks, and a few types of gobys... Anyone know a source for anything else?
  4. Sold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. No, no it's not. ANYONE paying that much for ANY coral is crazy in my book.
  6. For those who want to know... The BRS REEF SAVER rock is the only rock that is mined from on land. The rest of it is just dried out rock. "Eco" is because it is economicaly priced.
  7. Good to go on the sump. Materials on hand, and ready to be built as soon as the final design is decided. However, after looking at the acrylic, it seems that just buying an AGA 40B would be cheaper than the materials to build it. I'm sure some LFS out there would be willing to donate, or at least get one for this at wholesale costs... Let me know.
  8. I'm headed out tomorrow to pick up acrylic for a few projects and will scrounge the scrap bin for the acrylic to build the tank and sump. Shouldn't be a problem. I just need exact measurements. I also need sump info. If the stand is being built, I need to know the dimensions of the sump area. I need info on the skimmer, to find the optimum working depth and footprint, so I can build the sump around that. For the sump, I was figuring on a simple design. Basically, a sock holder area, into the skimmer compartment, into the return pump/top off area. Should be pretty basic, just need some info. Let me know. Also, the stand builder should contact me via PM!
  9. Very cool. Thought it was funny with the hermits in the background walking around. My hermits never do anything! I dont know if you use reef central, but posting this in the shark area there might get you a wider range of responses.
  10. I would be more than happy to physically build the tank and sump for free labor. I might need help with the acrylic though, depending on size, as I'm a seriously broke college student. I have some good sources though, so it might not be an issue. Just depends on size. Let me know.
  11. Use a powerhead and aim it straight at the anenome, and they will be annoyed and let go to move. Has worked for me a few times.
  12. Kimber, what school is it? My son is also special needs. He is the entire reason I even got a tank in the first place. I would love to help(I have some services I could offer, for free, that might help).
  13. Been considering ordering 150# from them. Good to see a happy customer locally.
  14. Yup, all are available. I kinda forgot I had posted this. =D
  15. Bump. Several offers but no one commin through. Still for sale.
  16. I think it's very cool. Fifty years from now some poor diver is going to come along one of them and be seriously freaked out.
  17. Well it would at least give your CBB a head start! Plus you don't have to worry about it messing with your tank parameters.
  18. One thing I think is important with a closed loop is planning. Once you drill the holes, thats where it is. Unlike with directional powerheads, that you can move wherever suites you best. Between the un-adjustability, drilling extra holes in your tank, tons of fittings that can all leak, a big/noisy power-hog of a motor to run it, and an oceans motion drawing even more power to give you changing current, I can't think of any reason to go with a closed loop. What are the benifits anyway? It seems like an archaic idea. Get in touch with The Nano Reef. They are, I believe, the only people in portland that sells Vortechs, and will cut good deals. Do some reading on them if your un-familiar. I think it's a far better route to go.
  19. I'm telling you, Red Sea Aptasia-X has got to be some of the best stuff ever. If that stuff doesn't kill em off for you, you should just consider having an aptasia focused display tank!
  20. Beautiful build, congrats! I really appreciate the clean lines of your stand. Simple but beautiful, and doesn't take away from the tank itself. I was curious as to your long term plans for the tank? With 2x250w halides, and 4-T5's over that large of a tank, it seems like your lighting coverage will be under par for high needs corals. Also, with only 2 K-4's, it seems like your flow would be on the low end also(I had 3 K-4's, modded with large impellers in my 125g). Also, what thickness of acrylic was used in the build? All in all, beautiful tank man. Has some amazing potential.
  21. For in a sump or? I have 10# in my sump that are semi baseball size pieces.. I'd do $10 for it all.
  22. #16 is thick like super glue. I would not recommend it for welding seams. #4 is water thin and wicks into the seam and is nice and clean to use(with some practice). It also sets very quickly(30 seconds or so). I use #16 for repairing some things, but thats it.
