  1. It was my second choice, 1st was one of your other ones. And for that, I'll quote a snippet from Joel at Waves in case it was forgotten from an older post. "Anyway, I think there are plenty of talented people in this club, and given the right amount of time and motivation they can come up with something better. I will offer this, if admins decide to extend the "due date", I will offer a $25 gift card to the winner of the vote. Its not much, but it might help encourage people to spend some time on it."
  2. Yeah, whoever called Dennis, don't pass it up. I really didn't see that many scratches in it in person. One heck of a deal! If I knew you only wanted $100 for it, I may have taken it myself and deal with the (wife) later.
  3. Got a six line wrasse to bring to the meeting tomorrow. Anybody interested, maybe a trade? LPS, cool zoos, ricodia? I'll be up 'til around 12:00, feel free to call. 503-558-8738 Got him in trade for tank labor, don't want cash for him. I don't want to keep him in my tank since he may eat my mandarin's and scooter blenny's pods.
  4. I'm confused Holly. Your thumbnail is the same as Drock's?
  5. I bought a 180 as well recently too, but I'm not getting enough skimmate. I need a more powerful Mag7, came with a 5. They recommended putting a gate valve on the pump as well if you're using one too powerful. (before the skimmer...and there should be one on your output of the skimmer as well). Call their support too, they say they'll help you figure it out. or support@proteinskimmer.com They say it may take a week or 2 to start kicking in properly. Recommended pumps for our skimmer, don't know GPH of them or yours. I think the Mag7 is like 700GPH. Here is the manual. http://www.proteinskimmer.com/EV180.pdf • Sen 700 • Mag 700 • Rio 3100 • Dolphin DP-800 (valve recommended) • Iwaki 30 RLT • Little Giant 3 MDQ
  6. After reading this and running across a lengthy post on RC, 7 pages later and 30 to go, I'm going to give this a shot. Seems like most have had great results with no ill effect to their corals and anemones. (I now remember why I don't go to RC very often, too many postings). I miss my white sand and hopefully this will bring it back....a cheap option too. I'm debating on whether it's better to turn off the fuge/sump light for the chaeto... I'm thinking that with it being on, spores floating in the tank will be kept alive by the light.

  8. How about the ultimate redneck turkey day. Get a live turkey, release it in the yard and the first person to catch it gets a leg.
  9. You can try to mix it up with cooking the bird. We do a BBQ and deep fried tukey along with 2 or 3 baked that are injected with flavored oils. Maybe try Chinese food instead.
  10. Lowes sells (used to, check the bag) 100# bags of commercial grade white silica sand for about $8/bag. (sugar fine) I used it, and swapped out for a thicker grade aragonite. The silica sand was a pain in the butt for blowing all over the rocks in my experience. If you don't have much flow at the bottom of the tank, it might not be that bad.
  11. Too bad they didn't have floaties in the first wavemaker to see how deep it effects the water.....definitely a bit more than a small ripple though. The second wavemaker at the end of the video looked a bit dangerous or just an accident waiting to happen. Look closely at the right edge of the tank, it was rocking the entire tank itself and the stand. Seems like quite a bit of strain on tank seams' and a stand!
  12. Man, who would have thought. After an opening loss streak to come out and win 4 in a row? Is this the first time being over .500 in a few years? My hearts pounding once again watching them play! I've watched more of their games so far this season than last year combined. I wonder how good they could be if their so called "superstar" could actually play. It takes a team to win and it's nice to see the Blazers play as a decent well rounded team. Hope they keep on winning so I don't have to fast forward though the games anymore...can't stand to watch them lose.... I get too involved, or would that be emotional. I think I need to change my BP med regiment to take it before the games.
  13. Joel- I'll bring you a frag Sunday before the meeting.
  14. Is this a new tank setup? Heavily stocked? Size? How often are the water changes current/past. Never heard of the nitrate eliminator. You can setup a refugium in your sump with some chaeto to help keep some of the numbers down though, but 80 to 100 seems awfully high. You might test your ro/di water to see how clean it's coming out too. If your using a pinpoint monitor, maybe it needs calibrating?
  15. Watch your corals, Drs. Foster site made me think twice when and still wanting a rabbitfish. "it does nip and possibly eat some soft and hard coral polyps".
  16. I don't see why not, we do at all the other meetings in LFS's. I've got a couple of things to trade, looking for zoos, rics, LPS, corals I don't have. I know, I don't have much in the way of fancy stuff, but it's what I've got. Running under VHO, 2 white, 2 blue. Will frag off of shown colonies. hydrophora 4 types of green star Gorgonian, forgot name. The base is more purple than the picture comes out. Shrooms, forgot name too. Polpys Colt
  17. Same here, now I just need to get a ro/di unit :( I found a used 6 stage that Waves sold, (Aqua Clear I think?), but all the membranes needed replacing...haven't a clue what those costs are.

  19. I've sent a link to Salty Supply to my wife; on sale for $49. Free shipping applies to product if total is $100 in cart. Also, check TRT for other codes like 10% off or free Xmas gift. Never bought anything online for tanks yet, but people rave about them on TRT as a sponsor. http://www.saltysupply.com/product-p/hd19401.htm
