Agree on Ecliptic - their signature burger (forgot the name) was simple but delicious. Pretty good fries too!

OK - had to go look it up ECLIPTIC BURGER  1/3 pound beef patty, pancetta, red onion, aged gruyere, russian dressing, potato bun

The russian dressing makes it so good!  Who's up for happy hours after the holidays?

Just 'OK'? Are you kidding me? It's better than any burger from up here, that's for sure, lol. Lucky Burger is ok, but Lucky Boy on Arroyo Parkway, now that place is awesome for pastrami sandwiches! I like Tommy's and In 'n Out, 2 all time faves.

Anybody want a 4x4 animal style?

I kinda have to agree with Sean...  had In 'n Out a few times and didn't understand what all the fuss was about.  To me Burgerville taste better but also more $$$.  The best burger I think is from Ecliptic Brewing.  Go there during happy hour and save a little on the burger plus great beer.

  3. Reefi holiday sale coming soon?

Take advantage of the $100 off ea Extreme with ReeFiLove promo now. The promo will likely end after this holiday season as I'm gearing to go-to multiple Reef-A-Palooza and Macna next year.

  4. I've purchased 6 3D printers total. My latest are the Artillery X1 are by far the best I've own. They are super silent with AC heated bed. Unfortunately, the only complaint is they did not include auto bed leveling sensor. However, their glass beds are the flattest of the other printers. For piece of mind, I installed a BLTouch sensor to enable auto bed leveling for $25 and using existing wirings which means I removed the LED light. They are under $500 plus having larger print area 300mm x 300mm x 400mmH.

PLA sticks to print bed much easier for things that are not submerged but I think even submerged, it'll still out last our lifetime. ABS with large continuous first several layers will tend to warp and requires heated bed at 80-100C. I use glue sticks to coat the print bed first and make PLA/ABS stick much better to the point I can turn off heated bed to be more green.

  5. A friend left an elliptical machine that he got from Costco with us when he moved to CA. Maybe he was hinting that I need to get back in shape?? Well, I need the garage space so if anyone interested, let me know. I'll ask him how much he wants for it.

Nice list.  I have used SB reef lights successfully for a few years and others on here have as well.  It is basically one guy and his wife so you definitely have to take that into account when setting expectations around support and communication but, that said, you are able to get things like replacement parts (diodes) so not impossible.  If you do decide to go for a more compact design and controllability (ala the Radions) you should definitely give the ReeFi extremes made by our very own @danlu_gt a look as they are very impressive and competitively priced with Radions.  Just a thought.  Also, as for Apex integration and choices around that @SuncrestReefis your guy. Also, you can often score some great deals on used equipment on forum if you are patient.

If you're looking for premium reef lighting, check out my ReeFi Duo Extreme.  50% more LED diodes than Radion XR30w g4 at 35% lower cost.

  7. @danlu_gt...Just curious, have you contacted any other popular reviewers?  This seems like a pretty sleazy way to do reviews.
I've contacted Dana Riddle when I was in Atlanta. We met up for reef chat at a LFS my brother shopped often. From web search and previous macna talks, I know he has research experiences in coral lighting with lab grade equipments. From my request, he was willing to do his independent review and testing without fees.

I've only contacted a handful of YouTubers. Most do not respond.

  8. That’s sounds fishy to me. Like one of those influencers that expects free hotel stays and such. They should be getting their money from advertising, not charging you to review your product. In fact, as I typed that, it made me wonder how they could possible pass it off as an unbiased review if they left it to you to decide how much of a “tip” to give on top of their fee.

I agree... I would think they would be happy to review new products to keep and grow their viewer base. I always thought they get paid from YouTube ads.
    I agree with Bill.
Many reefers are very sensitive to pricing, so I'd worry you might limit any potential new sales by needing to raise the price to pay for a "review".
I keep plugging your lights whenever I can, and I'm sure you have other customers who are spreading the word.
Thank you John. I appreciate you and Andy helping answer questions on the forums and help spreading the word out.

  9. So, I got in touch with an influential reef equipment reviewer to possibly do review on ReeFi Duo Extreme.  However, there's a catch... I need to pay for sponsorship video which is significant enough that I would have to end the ReeFiLove ($100 off) promo.

  10. That looks sharp Daniel!  Are those your own design?  I lost track of where you were at with mounting options - are those adjustable in the horizontal direction to help center over the tank?  Seems like a nice alternative to a tank or ceiling mount setup.

Yes.. I will add 2040 wall mount option to my website soon. I was going to do tank mount but then thinking it was too much hassle to route out square cut outs on my splash guard rim and then it just came to me that I can use wall anchors and mount on the wall.

When can I set you up with ReeFi Duo Extremes on your tank? :)

  11. Any structures you put in the sand could damage fish trying to hide in it or sifting clean it. Also when the sand get loaded with detritus and you need vacuum clean it, good luck. To me, seems like a huge risk for very little return. Maybe you can just cement the entire sandbed and slope to your liking. Then you don't have to worry about sand need cleaning.

A little off topic... If the house is still being built, maybe add a few light tunnels to get sunlight in between your MH. That would be different and interesting to see. Or add a bunch of solar panels to see how much reef equipments can run on solar.

How does your PH stay so stable between night and day?  Or maybe this is just a daytime reading?  Your x axis is unintelligible on my phone.  😞

I only got the SQL logging to work again at 2am on 10/24/2019.  So the graph only had 10hrs of data.  Here's more data set with 1.5 days worth.  Got some weird pH drops last night.. I think that's when I unplug the pH probe last night when I was testing an idea during my insomnia.  I think my pH is some what stable because I'm running ATS lights at 20hrs duration to fight dino outbreak.

  13. Here are my logging info from last night.  Temp drops slowly but haven't cross the 76F threshold.  As the day time house temp goes up, tank temp creeps up.  I guess as we get colder daytime weather, tank heater will kick in.  We have the house night temp set higher at 69F and daytime at 70F.  When I had the tank temp at 78F before, yes the tank heater is on very frequent, but drop the tank min temp to 76F, then tank heater hardly turns on.

Ummmmm, ok?    Four return pumps though.. ballin!  I saw a build thread yesterday and the guy had 17... yes SEVENTEEN Mp40's.    I'm like... brah.. build a closed loop LOL.  17 mp40's.. someone must have hit the scratch off lottery.

Was that guy the engineer for the MP40's?  He probably just had a few pallet loads of MP40 sitting in his garage.

Got the SQL logging ported over to the new controller.  Here's 3 data set for testing.  It should start auto logging every 10mins.

  15. Yes, I’m fully aware of Interceptor as an effective treatment and the harm to shrimp & crabs.  Because I’d need to tear apart my whole aquascape to get to my pistol shrimp, I decided long ago to just live with the red bugs.  My corals have been doing fine with them for almost a year now, so I’m not concerned.  Just annoyed at them photo bombing my macro shots.
If the red bugs move alot, you can try photo stacking to auto remove red bugs. ;-)
