1. BTW, cool critter and great photo...
2. Actually he's out in Hockinson. I've heard there are more out in Camas, but I haven't seen them...
3. Yeah, this is a diminuitive species of Water Buffalo from Europe- their common name is "Fallow Deer".(nutty)
4. My Dad's Pets I thought I would post some of my Dad's pets... He had an unusually dark fawn this Spring. Their normal coloring (young and adult Fallow Deer) is light brown with white spots...
5. How low did your salinity get (assuming you replaced leaking saltwater with ro/di water)?
6. The Oregonian printed this article in today's paper- found it short but interesting. http://www.oregonlive.com/science/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/science/115146152699270.xml&coll=7 They also had some links... http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2006/s2652.htm http://oceanservice.noaa.gov/education/kits/corals/welcome.html http://olympiccoast.noaa.gov
7. Nice pictures- I want one of these for my aquarium...
8. Here's mine, in case anyone doesn't want to follow the earlier link... They are 2 aquablues, 1 actinic plus and 1 pure actinic.
9. I didn't realize you were so far south... I didn't do the screen acclimation (just didn't want to buy it). I reduced photoperiod from 12 to 6 hours and ran just half the lights for a couple of weeks. I increased the photoperiod over 1 or 2 months. I now run dawn/dusk from 6:30 am to 9:00 pm and the other lights (aquablues) from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
10. If you want to see it in person- PM me. Also, I was unprepared for the algae bloom when I went from 42 Watts to 156 Watts of light. It is better now. Darren
11. I miss the map- Is it coming back?
12. This link shows my bulb selection and a photo of the results... http://forum.marinedepot.com/Topic26907-16-1.aspx?Highlight=dchemist The light is a Tek- 36" with 4 bulbs. I have 2 aquablues, 1 actinic plus and 1 pure actinic. I think its too blue, but I've gotten used to it. When I replace the bulkbs I'm going replace the pure actinic or actinic plus with a GE daylight. That won't be until this winter. For what its worth- the growth I have seems fast.
13. I have this coral but I don't know what it is... Its growing well and I really like it. Can anyone give me an idea what it is? Darren
14. I'd be up for a looking glass if the price was right (fair)...
15. I'm not sure if I'm being a nervous parent... Does the white patch in the center of this Monti look worrisome? I hadn't noticed before last night and I imagine its a little bigger today. Also, sorry for the poor photos- I can't photograph any better because of the angle.
16. Where abouts will you be working? I would consider your commute to work when looking for a place to live.
17. I don't know what I like about it, but the photo of the little green monti(?) is cool.
18. It's a Konica MinoltaDiMAGE Z2 (4.0 mega pixels). Generally set to "s-macro" and on a tripod (or sometimes with the lens pressed up against the glass). I also generally manually set the F-Number and exposure time. Darren
19. I posted it on Ron Shimek's forum yesterday- turns out its a sponge.
20. Here are some more- let me know what you think. Tell me if this is a sponge or something else... One of my Xenia was posing for the photo. Check out the rare pink bubble macroalgae (censored) . A a full tank shot- there really aren't two clownfish, just my software merging a couple of photos. Enjoy, Darren
21. (worthless) I'm dying to know what I'm missing!
22. Thanks Krux- I appreciate the feedback. I didn't buy it for the color it was- it was given to me. I was more concerned that I was doing it harm. Doesn't seem to be the case.
