jayR
I just got my TDS meter from a buddy that borrowed it. I was surprised that my tap water was reading only 90ppm, is this accurate?(scratch) I live in Vancouver & was wondering if anyone else has these readings. Our tap water in California was like 300+ppm:eek:
siskiou
The water in Eugene is even better. It reads around 30ppm.

jayR
Wow that's cool. Do you guys still use RO/DI units then?
impur
I sure do. The upside is i am getting 0tds water from my unit for 3 years now. And i've only had to replace the DI resin once!
jayR
That's cool. At least you only have to change out membrane, sediment, carbon block & DI filters alot less then other places.
siskiou
Yes, I'm still using RO/DI, too. And the cartridges do last forever!

fly guy
Wow. Those numbers you guys are spitting out surprises me. I knew it wouldnt be high or anything, but thats pretty dang good. Im not exactly local or anything........I get 40 give or take out of my well.
jayR
Do people with low TDS reading still use their RO units? Will it be ok to use the tap & use the water conditioner goods (de-chlorinater, ammonia & copper remover)? Does everyones RO/DI unit production drop significantly if the source water is cold? Like 60 degrees & lower. I've been able to produce only 30-40GPD when my unit is rated @ 110GPD
Nyles
My ro/di produces EXACTLY 100 GPD with cold water out of the 100 GPD membraine If your not doing SPS I have seen great success without a ro/di but I would not risk it personally, I prefer to give my inhabitants the best quality water possible, if its not clean going in, then you just making a no3 cycle worse than what the food and fish waste do already. Not to mention the theories that non-ro/di water cause really bad algae...not something worth risking...
