Mitrillion
I'm looking to get a clam but I have no idea what to get! I had maxima for a few months and it died awhile back ago and my tank is much more stable now. So! I was wondering what do you guys recommend I've heard maximas are pretty finikey and harder to keep!?

TheClark
Seems like the deresa's are hardier, a good experimental starter clam. Liveaquaria has a good writeup on them http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=497+2057+585&pcatid=
Lexinverts
Jeff often has nice and hardy (and inexpensive) Derasas in his shop. That's what I would try if I was starting out with clams.
junior
Jeff often has nice and hardy (and inexpensive) Derasas in his shop. That's what I would try if I was starting out with clams. I was there this weekend. They had a 4" or so Derasa, standard coloring. Usually best to try your first time with one that isn't the really small 1"-2" ones. Not sure if its still there though. jmp21677
If your waterms is stable I think you'll be fine with any clam. Really look to try and see if it's health (shell closes tight when a shadow crosses it. Not gapping where it takes water inetc)
