R-3
I think they are sweet! I would like a corner if I had the spot. Later Ryan
DChemist
I hate to sound so negative, but I don't like the bowfronts (I had a 47 gallon FW) because of the distortion. And it makes it nearly impossible to take a clear photo of the inhabitants.
spectra
Dont worry about being negative I would like everybodys perspective. And I can see what you are saying about a clear view but I can deal with not getting good pictures:D Hell I can not take a good picture in my kids 29 with no bowDOH! reefgeek84
Joel at Waves, has a really nice bow front corner at his shop, with stand and hood.
spectra
Joel at Waves' date=' has a really nice bow front corner at his shop, with stand and hood.[/quote'] Yeah I saw it but the one I am looking at is smaller and the price is about 1/10th of what he wants for that one. andy
Personally, I hate bowfronts. The distortion drives me nuts, I just can't focus my eyes on anything.
izzypop
When you say corner bowfront I assume you mean 1/4 cylinder 1/4 cylinder Cons: Hard to clean with magnet cleaners scratch easy because they don't have a flat surface The view is distorted Lighting is harder You lose half of your water volume since it isn't square stand space underneath is less as well. Everything in this hobby is usually based off a rectangle design Less room for the big equipment Pros: Look way cool Save ton of space CONCLUSION: fish only, softie lps reef okay, Never would I want an SPS tank as a 1/4 cylinder. I do wish I had my old 1/4 cylinder back and setup as a softy reef.
Lowman
I've heard that it is nearly impossible to get good flow throught those things too.
siskiou
I've read that they are hard to aquascape and light. And the scraping of algae on the bowed part is supposed to be harder.
spectra
Well guess it was not ment to be called the guy tonight and someone was comeing to look at it. Did not here back so I guess its gone. It was only 150 bucks for the tank and stand and did not look all that bad. Oh well guess it is time to spend some more on a cubeDOH! mister crabs
another downside is that its hard to get a good sized sump underneath and if you go sumpless then all that HOB equipment puts the tank like a foot from the wall ruining the clean effect of the corner bow.
