  1. Thanks that's what we ended up doing. However, the leak was getting bad that before we went to Petco we put some Flex Seal putty on the outside of the tank where it was leaking and by the time we got home it was no longer leaking. Its an ugly patch but it worked and will buy some more time to change over. I always thought Flex Seal was a gimmick.
  2. Anybody got a free 29g in Cowlitz County area. Need to find one before total failure. Thanks
  3. I drip acclimated them quickly maybe about 4 hours. From 0ppm to 34.8ppm I then tossed them in. I was reading a lot of threads where people would spend days or weeks acclimating but seemed like they had a lot of losses. The people just tossing them in seemed to have less losses, but the survivors seemed to do better long term. The least loss looked like the ones that were acclimated 2-4 hours. So that's what I did. Seemed like the type of mollies used also made a difference from what I read it looks like Sailfins, Balloons, and basic Black do best. I also read that with sailfins the wilder colored looking the better, that's another reason I went with the green sailfin. There used to be a fish/reptile store in Vancouver (across from Kmart on Andreessen) when I was a kid I think it was called StillWater Aquariums but I remember them having some very large 6-8in Green Sailfins in a reef tank that made a lasting impression.
  4. I think my male Anthis must be just as dumb as a Mollie he can't seem to help but to join in their antics. He has to about 8x the size of the male mollie and acting just like him. Before I added the mollies, I always got a very regal vibe off him, now he zooms around with the male mollie and that has me laughing hard. The size difference itself is hilarious.
  5. So, today I added a pair of Green Sailfin Mollies one male one female. I've heard they are aggressive algae eaters and I'm hoping that they will help trim back my emerald crabs' gardens. The crabs keep their gardens trimmed short, but they let is spread to far. At some point I'll get a lawnmower as well. Anyway, I've always really liked Sailfin Mollies mostly the Green Sailfins and I've had them in previous FW tanks but ever since I learned years ago that they could go full salty I've always wanted to try. They have been in the tank about 6 hours now and my first impressions are that they are so much more colorful under reef lights all their green, blue and orange spots look like jewels the tails shimmer blue and the orange and red strip on the dorsal fin is very vivid. The other thing I noticed was how much more active they are, zooming around the tank interacting with every fish they encounter. My male Anthis does appear to be a bit confused by them he's several times the size of the GSM so the first time I saw him swim at them while they zoomed past, I was concerned, but I guess zooming back and forth and up and down along the glass is just as fun for him cause he keeps joining in and that is very comical. I have also seen them picking at the algae in the brief moments they slow down. Has anyone else kept Mollies in their reef? What type? What was your experience? Any potential dangers? I'm trying to get some pics but its like taking pictures of the flash. Hopefully, they slow down at some point so I can get a picture that looks like a fish.
  6. I got a maxi mini a couple months ago. It stayed in the same place for a month, then it disappeared for about 3 weeks it now comes out at feeding times and looks like it has doubled size. I have a lot of holes in the rock where its located, but I can't ever see it unless its feeding time and after it gone. In the short time I get to see it, it looks healthy has good color and is obviously eating. I thought they didn't move around as much as other nems. For the last month my fire shrimp and him have shared the same cave even through a molt. Should I worry about the MMA being so secluded or about the shrimp and nem sharing the same cave? Maybe I'm concerned about nothing.
  7. I go to school at LCC in Longview and Petco is basically across the street, so I stop by about 4 times a week on my way home just to let them know I'm watching. A few weeks back there was a gentleman in there having an employee feed a lionfish, after it ate some, he's like I'm not buy it I just wanted to make sure it got fed. Made me laugh all the way home.
  8. Nice, maybe you wanna fix my rats nest?
  9. I'm also guilty of acquiring fish from the Longview Petco. I've had good luck there and so far, I've only lost 1 chromis. The last fish I got there was my pair of Lyretail Anthis I paid $50 for the pair. other fish and inverts I've got that from Petco over the last year that are all still happy and healthy are Neon Goby, File fish, Fire fish, 3 chromis I have 2 now, feather duster, blood red fire shrimp, coral banded shrimp, mini maxi carpet nem, and a cool rock. I'm going to Hell Huh? Petworks used to be the local place to go but their salt section is almost non-existent now and nothing salty I've bought in the last year has made it more a couple weeks, 10 years ago they were great. They still have amazing freshwater and I get a lot of my freshwater stuff there still.
  10. Nice to find another local I'm in Kelso. I'm not ready to sell anything just yet but I might have a green ric, a green/yellow/blue ric, and a couple tiny zoas frags to trade.
  11. Thanks, I think I took them with like 3mp maybe 5mp Nikon. Those pics were all between late 2008 to 2010. I sometimes miss those old VHO lights, they made it easy to take decent pictures even with junk cameras. The ones below are my current tank taken with 50mp phone camera under LED's. I can't get a good picture. maybe I need a real camera. Does anyone use those phone filters and do they work?
  12. Thanks, now I'm looking for the pics of the two tanks that I had after the 72g BF. This pic could have been great if the kids weren't in the way.
  13. Yeah, MrScuito. I just couldn't remember my password. I was actually looking for a member that helped me back then who lived in Kelso. I wanted to see if he was still active since I now live in Kelso. Looks like he might be an Administrator "The Clark"
  14. You ever go digging in a closet, attic or some other storge space you haven't been in for years, and you find something some unexpected treasure? Well, I was surfing around the forums, and I found myself. Actually, I found my old profile from January 2010. What's really exciting at least for me is on that profile are pictures of my very first reef tank that I thought I lost forever. The pictures are terrible quality, but sorry I got to repost them since I found them. Here are bad pics of my first reef a 72g bowfront sporting VHO lighting.
  15. Where are you located? My daughter needs to get her own tank and get her clown out of my tank. I don't know what she has to trade but she wanted me to keep an ear out for people getting rid of tanks that would be interested in partial trades.
  16. I'll tell my mom she may be interested. Where are you located?
  17. are you willing to sale individually? I would love them all but I cant afford all of them at the moment.
  18. I tried again with the new link, I think it worked. Now I just need to find out who I sent the last $75 to.
  19. How do I buy raffle tickets? using the above info just takes me to my paypal then what?
  20. The BW has stayed where I put it the rainbow on the other hand will travel the length of the tank to be right next to the BW. They must be best friends. I fed them again last night and I was surprised by how much they can eat. Can they overeat? In my first reef I had large LTA, but I never fed it. At the time I had a snowflake moray, and he was a messy eater, so the LTA got scraps from him.
  21. Wanted to thank Melanie again for the Nems. They seem to be doing well. Was it normal in your tank for them to stay together? I was trying to keep some space between them, but every time I move them apart, they end up right back in the same spot right next to each other like NO personal space. They both seem happy and have both ate some shrimp and oyster. It just seemed odd after what I've read that a Rainbow BTA and a Black Widow would "cuddle?".
  22. I've super glued old mag floats to all kinds of stuff including heavy old school power heads. Some diffuser, super glue and an old mag float maybe some Krylon SP cheap easy sturdy rack. I've been thinking of glueing mag float mini's to rocks and drilling hole in the rock for plugs and having floating frag rocks on the walls.
