  1. The duncan is back up for sale.

Still got plenty of frogspawn and hammers. Send me a PM if interested but not going to CNC on Sunday. I head into Portland frequently and can deliver at some future point.

Help me make some room and pay for all these group buys and raffle tickets!  I live out by Hood River, so this will be for pick up only at the club meet on the 15th.

    PM me if interested.

    - frog spawn and hammers. $15 for first 2 heads, $5 each additional head.  Cut to order. You mount.  These are each 25+ heads, and I'd like to trim by about half.

    - 1 rose bubble tip. $50. These are large, about 8 inches when fully open, and they will easily grow to over a foot given the space.  I've had this line of nems since 2007.  Call me crazy, but they're not like most I've seen going around our area. They're a deep red color against a dark gray oral disc, and no green whatsoever at the base of the tentacles. Got them from a reefer on Whidbey Island with a 600 gal tank when I was a member of Puget Sound Aquarium Society. Pending

    - 4-head non-branching Duncan - $20

    - 2 head torch frag. Green with pink tips. Picked up at CNC about a year ago and has grown to a dozen heads. Cotton Candy? $50. Pending

    - 6 inch green sinularia - $15 Pending

    - large Halloween hermit - Free. Pending

Sinularia - not fully open in this pic.

  2. After a little more research, it appears to be a spawning event. So cool!  Even saw a few posts where baby torches appeared afterwards, so I shut off the pumps for awhile to allow eggs to settle.

  3. So I've been watching this torch closely for past week because 3-4 heads have remained shriveled without ever expanding to fully open (first pic below).  No outward signs of BJD or tissue loss.  Maybe just the slightest bit of recession.  Then this morning I noticed the mouth of a different head seemed to be torn open, with white stuff coming out.  Some of it looks like little white balls (pics below).

Anyone have any clue about what the heck is going on here?

Even as I write this, the mouth seems to be closing up on its own.

  4. The sand likely has a well developed bacteria bed, so you might consider keeping it alive.

What you could do instead is thoroughly rinse it with the tank's water (If you still have it).  Stir it all up and then dump the dirty water.  This could help get rid of all the built up detritus that could be the underlying issue.

Either way, you may have a nutrient spike when you put everything back together, so be ready for water changes.

I have thought on this one before and have a semi solution. Here is my offer.......I actually like cutting up corals, if you want to bring the corals to the shop i do this quite often for people. Using up saw blades to visit with forum folks is more than a fair trade for me :)

I never thought of asking the local shops about this service (duh). Thanks @MrBret for offering!

  6. I've been thinking that this would be a great club resource, similar to the light meters.  It's not something I can justify buying because it would rarely get used, but it sure would come in handy for a few corals every now and then (e.g., non-branching Duncan).

    Thoughts?
