  1. Thank you all for the support!  My wife told me it was bound to happen... I hate that statement, we should be trying to annihilate these pests from the hobby.  I just never imagined it would be an inside job that introduced them LOL.  Peppermint shrimp are in... I'll be keep watch for any "new" nems in the tank.  Does anyone know if Valentini puffers have a taste for them?

  2. So I got a beautiful new Derasa clam today... covered in a few pests. Aptaisa, vermited... and some friendly isopods and such.

Couple of things about our cleaning regiment:
We QT everything regardless of what it is...
We clean all livestock as advised... scrub, razor blade, glue whatever needs to be done to get the job done.. etc.
I always wear gloves... been stung too many times by bristleworms

So what's the problem? After cleaning off the two small aptasia I used the gloves to wipe off the blade, aptasia guts remaining on the glove. So the clam is still acclimating, I decided to go check on the DT... and what do I do I stick the glove with the guts on it into the sump not thinking about what I just did. So the big question is: Did I just contaminate my DT with aptaisa? It's bugging the crap out of me and I'm having a mini meltdown over it... Need some community support, thoughts.

I will mention that I preemptively ordered some peppermint shrimp and am thinking of ordering some apt eating nudi's just in case.

Thanks all for your support/advice in advance!

Hey guys, designer/creator of the aF4 frozen feeder here.  If you've got any questions I'm happy to answer them!  Right now we're alpha testing iteration 13 of the design which we'll know by the end of the week if thats the design we take to beta testing.  We plan to release by the end of 2020.

I like the concept, looking forward to seeing this live!!!  I did gave a couple questions: Are you all planning on doing a second round of funding?  Thoughts on the retail price?  HOW DO U GET ONE?!?!? :).

  4. @SuncrestReef Kim PM'd me said I should reach out to you regarding my the membership support issue.  Let me know what I'm missing :)

    Hey all,

Kim posted something on PNWRK FB page regarding becoming a supporting member.  I would love to donate to this forum but haven't been able to find where I can do that.  I've checked the store on multiple devices and the "Orders" category.  I unfortunately have nothing listed in the Store.

    Thanks!

Just curious, why the aversion to algae barn?

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

For the price and shipping it just doesn't seem like a I get a lot of pods.  I also would like to buy from someone local, it would help to see their setup... I got ghost flatworms in my last bottle (though not bad guys still made me wonder what else I'm dumping into my tank unaware (thank god for the wrasses).

  6. Hi Fellow Reefers!  Wondering if anyone greater Seattle area is growing and selling their own copepods?  Would love to find local grower, currently ordering for a grower in Ohio, shipping is getting expensive though and I won't order from algae barn.

    Thanks!

    Bonus if they are tigriopus!

I loved my Red Sea 250 except for the stand and I like shallow tanks. I retrospect I would have had someone build me a better stand. I have had 5 or 6 tanks up at a time because you just can’t do everything you want in one tank.

Oh boy... If we ever decide to get rid of the freshwater tanks I'm hoping to replace them with a peninsula, lagoon and frag tank :) I fully agree one tank isn't enough ;)

  8. I will fully admit that I only know a little about SPS outside of wanting good flow and stable parameters, but I am familiar with algae and treatment I'm wondering if that's GHA (which it looks like) would fluconazole work to get rid of it? I  know its primarily made for bryopsis but I've seen some posts on R2R about folks treating GHA with it in mixed tanks.  Just wondering if you'd looked at that option.

I'm currently treating my QT tank for GHA.  We've tried everything to remove it from the gsp and clove rocks. scrubbing, picking, lawnmower blenny, snails, emerald crabs, and hydrogen peroxide cleanings literally dipping and scrubbing... It still comes back.

Welcome to the forum. It’s quite dangerous when couples are into the obsession. It is easy to go to fast. We have all done it! Be careful you will end up with 5 tanks !

I am not as familiar with waterbox tanks but they look really nice.

Thank you!  I have to share that we do have 5 tanks in our house already :)  3 freshwater and two salt 😱  Though we're trying to downsize now... water changes are becoming a day long event making and mix RODI water.

For our first "big" tank we planned on a WB or RS, we ultimately decided on the Waterbox because of the stand, I'd read a few reviews where the stand quality of RS had gone down we just didn't want to take a risk.  Though I think we would have been happy either way.
