  1. Looking for a 20lb CO2 bottle
  2. Too funny, our 5 month old little guy was the excuse for my tank upgrade!
  3. And I thought I had a problem! I hope that is on a concrete foundation or you have invested in some house jacks! I'm theoretically downsizing though going to the 160 gallon display.. Although now I've upgraded everything else and am looking to add a nice frag tank. Total water should be close to 300G by the time I'm done.
  4. Got my Swagelock co2 regulator and just finished assembly. It's practically a piece of art.
  5. Jorge, Got that stand sold yet? I'm only interested in the tank and possibly the MP10s Rob
  6. One question on how to configure: Does the peristaltic pump simply replace the needle valve as the effluent control system and since I'm running the reactor external don't I still need to push water to the reactor via my manifold (I don't have any experience with peristaltic pumps so I don't know if unintended flow would occur due to the head pressure on the reactor)? Seems like the other route with no prime pump to the reactor would cause the peristaltic pump a lot of effort to draw water into the reactor via a feed tube from the sump (And regarding my earlier thoughts on unintended flow with head pressure would likely result in loss of siphon in this configuration) . Maybe I already answered my question and either configuration would work because the peristaltic pump only allows precise metered flow by design I picked up a 50Lb bag of extra coarse ARM already!
  7. Took your advice. Just picked this up along with a new SS pump head. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Masterflex-Peristaltic-10-600rpm-Brushless-Great-for-Reef-Calcium-Reactors-/292109879787?txnId=1475553920019
  8. I would be interested in the tank/racks only if you end up parting it out.
  9. Hi,I just set up a new red sea reefer 750XXL and have my prior tank for sale: Marineland 200DD Starphire (including sump, closed loop plumbing and stand/top). I was running the sump from my garage but you could easily run this in an under cabinet configuration without changing the existing closed loop plumbing config (will need to do minor pluming to connect your own pumps and return drain to sump). The Tank:great condition Marineland 200 Gallon deep dimensions starphire tank (48x36x27), Custom stand is 2x4 framed with removable cabinet for easy access to plumbing. Top is solid wood with aluminum bracing. Oceans Motions 4-way wave maker and closed loop plumbing (Echotech L1 is not included core plumbing is). All bulkheads/unions are schedule 80 pvc and plumbing is schedule 40 pvc. Also included is a 20 x 20 x 15" 3/8 thick acrylic sump. This setup would easily cost $4k to build new (new 200DD starphire tanks alone are almost $2k). $1,000 OBOCall or text my cell: 803-239-seven two four two Interested in partial trade for 36 x 24 x 12 frag tank.
  10. Hi, I'm looking for a frag tank around 36*24*10 in size, 24-40" in length and 20-24" front to back. Height is flexible but I want to use for SPS frag grow out so nothing more than 12". Glass rimless would be optimal or thick acrylic (nothing less than 3/8). New or like new condition
  11. Hi,I'm breaking down my Marineland Starphire 200 Gallon DD tank and going with a new red sea reefer 750XXL. I will be selling the tank (including sump, closed loop plumbing and stand/top). I was running the sump from my garage but you could easily run this in an under cabinet configuration without chagrining the existing closed loop plumbing config (will need to do minor pluming to connect your own pumps and return line to sump). Top is solid wood with aluminum bracing. Oceans Motions 4-way wave maker and closed loop plumbing (Echotech L1 is not included core plumbing is). 12. The ice the foot method has worked for me with my bubble tip nem that likes to go places I dont want it (Now he has his own island hand hasn't moved for a while). Assuming the biology is similar for the rock flowers
  13. Thanks. Yeah I have an electric C02 valve set with solenoid coming and will be using the second channel on my Neptune apex for the PH control. I was planning on feeding from a manifold that is already powered by a Vectral L1 and I have a 1/2 gate valve for flow control to this reactor although the needle valve on the exit of the reactor will really control the flow so I guess i just need enough pressure on the system for it to work properly. Everything coming off the manifold is adjusted by a gate valve so I could cut back the flow on some others and crank up the L1 if needed. I took a look at the masterflex pump, look's interesting and would certainly increase the accuracy for dosing .
  14. Setting up my first calcium reactor. I'm retrofitting a reef octopus Varios 2 DC pump to my new MRC CCR-818 rather than the old school blueline MD20 that was OEM. Schedule 80 fittings and Pinpoint valve set on the way and I still need to pick up a 20lb co2 bottle. Will be running a PH probe off the 2nd channel on my APEX with a cutoff for the solenoid if PH in the reactor goes too low. Varios will be controlled off the Apex as well although I'm thinking there probably isn't much value to dialing the re-circulation flow. Return flow will come off my existing manifold powered by a Vectra L1. Any recommendations on how to dial or first time user things to avoid? I was previously keeping softies and was only adding calcium by topping off with kalkwasser.
  15. I had a euro brace 180 back in the day and it was much more difficult getting rock in and out. Then I had a plastic framed tank and did't really like the look. Now rimless red sea 750xxl and love it. It can be messy when cleaning the glass but you can actually get all the glass clean with a mag cleaner!
  16. Use an epoxy paint/primer like the 2K system. You can get some very long lasting stuff from professional paint suppliers in a can these days just make sure you wear an appropriate respirator. Also make sure that the metal is prepped correctly so that it doesn't flake (starting with clean shiny metal, I normally use an acid etch primer then epoxy primer then several of top coat and sand between primer coats).
  17. Ever since I had a tank crash due to an ice storm that took out power for almost a week I have had some back power system. Never a generator although that's probably what it would take to keep things running for a week. I my case I would have to swap batteries for find somewhere to charge them. Here's what I have: DIY UPS using a 8D marine battery box, triplite auto inverter/charger and two glass mat 50AH batteries in parallel. 100AH of battery should power my Vectra M1 return and L1 manifold pumps at full power for several days. Skimmer wouldn't be running but all my systems would have water circulating which should keep oxygenation up. I also have two of the ecotech battery backups for the MP40 and MP 60 in the display so I should have supplemental tank flow plus return flow for up to ~ 48hours Lastly temp drop is a problem as most of the time power gets lost when its cold out. Luckily I have a full size gas fireplace about 6 feet from the tank and can run that to maintain things above critical levels. Systems was tested this winter when we had a power outage that lasted 8 hours. Everything ran like a champ! temp drop was only like 2 deg in that 8 hours (78 down to 76).
  18. Looks great. Just ordered one for my reefer 750XXL last week! Hopefully it wont take the full 6 weeks to get here.
  19. I was wondering why I kept seeing the photobucket message that the user needs to upgrade their account and looked into it a few days ago. Hell 3rd party linking is the only reason I ever used photobucket. Alternatively if you are a google drive user there is a way to set security on a share such that it is public and you can link to that from 3rd party locations. As someone already stated you can post directly although 19mb isn't good for more than ~5 photos at today's resolutions.
  20. Good luck. I went this through over a year ago not knowing if I had velvet or ich. Assuming velvet due to the speed at which it was wiping out fish in my tank. My best advice is to wait the full fallow period and add a week or so. I jumped the gun and put them back in the tank at 9 weeks of coppersafe treatment only to have it return a month later and almost kill fish again. luckily the second round I saw it starting early signs and pulled the all fish. Second round they were out of the tank for 4 full months and treated with Chloroquine Phosphate which is more effective against velvet than copper but can be used to treat both. Also if using CP powder pre mix the dosage with water before adding to the QT.
