  8. I found out that true service lines...power from the street must be in conduit the whole way since they are not connected by a fuse. My suspicion is that since I am installing a sub panel...and it has a breaker on both sides, i can put it in the wall with protection. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  9. well, a couple things... 1. its the city of portland so calling someone isnt an option, you get a machine. 2. yes, you always get different answers from.different inspectors. I blew a gasket once on an inspector that wanted me to "unglue" all my vent pipes on a bathroom remodel because a t was facing the wrong way. He eventually just said fine and approved it. 3. i have permits... yes insurance won't cover illegal permit. 4. this isnt "romex" romex is rubberized plastic sheathed line for outlet runs, this is a feeder cable. I dont know if you can have a service cable inside a wall. I think you can but my inspector is...ummmm..not very helpful. Perhaps I will plow through the NEC. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  10. I am pretty certain Sean has some ph probe holders. like about 12 of them. he may be out of town this weekend@sharklover Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. very nicely done! how did you cut the keyholes in the lid and where did you get your acrylic tube? that stuff is pricey!! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  12. ok, sounds like just having it in the wall is fine. This is not romex, it is SER underground rated service wire ( there is a difference code wise) and has a pretty tough coating.. maybe not rat proof though. The ground is going to the rebar grounding rod that can be seen in the picture. that rod is tied into the rebar in my stem walls. i was thinking bare copper was ok then because its not in the underground conduit. 13. i am putting a sub panel in my shop i am wondering the following: do i have to run the feeder through conduit all the way to the panel? it would be easier to just run the feeder run behind the panel and into the top of the new panel... instead of conduit in the bottom and then running the feeder through the panel to the main lugs. 2x6 studs btw free beer for any assistance Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  14. life does get in the way at times but at any rate, this is a good way to get an awesome deal on a sweet frag. $30 for a mini colony. ... that is unheard of really Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  15. IT WAS ONLY A JOKE!! ok, admittedly not really funny but for the record, in the approximately 30? frags i have gotten from cuttlefish i have never seen adult flatworms nor flatworm eggs on ANY of them. and i check every frag with a scope after i learned the hard way after getting a "great deal" on a bunch of sps from someone that a lot of people know who i am talking about and is no longer in business. the frags look awesome, are healthy and I for one are super stoked! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  16. is that a flatworm????? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  17. yeah we will start a seperate thread for pictures and measurements i was thinking if putting a card behind mine and just measuring the outline. or measure each branch from the base. so you will have a ray of measurements originating from the center but they would all be on one plane... does that make sense? we will figure it out. its not like everyones sps is going to explode and we will need a micrometer to determine a winner. 1/3 will die, 1/3 will live and not grow and a 1/3 will likely take off. if all else fails we can just vote on the top 3. 18. reebrite xho blues 12 hours 4 t5ho coral plus 10 hours 3 250 radiums 6 hours 6' long by 3' wide tank Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  19. you replace bulbs once every two years. they dont cost anywhere near that per month. they are only on for 5-6 hours a day. when my 750w of lights come on the heater never comes on for 5 hours. 30 minutes after they go off my heaters start coming on and off. 1000w of heaters. I never run a chiller, nor AC. i love t5, even light. just very flat. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  20. jorge will finally get his revenge on me for all those leaf blower jokes. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  21. Never thought of that one, how big is your office? They do produce sweeeet light though. That shimmer!! Not the little colored dots shimmer, the real deal sparkly kind!
  22. Just my opinion... but in this climate I think it is crazy not to be using MH bulbs. Either with light bulbs or with your heaters, you are going to pay to heat your tank 80% of the year. LED's have been trying to emulate the performance of halides since they first came out. Seems at times people are more concerned with programming this or that more than they are with the actual performance of the lights. My set up has two settings, on and off. Ok, no sunrise or whatever but I also have only ONE thing that I can mess up with my light schedule, one it is on or off. My geisemann spectra (3 - 250watt MH bulbs and 4 t5's) baths the tank in such an even amount of high PAR it is utterly ridiculous. NO other light will come close to how even the coverage is at around 8-12" from the water surface.
  23. just glug a bunch of mag in there, it wont hurt anything. that is pretty low for mag, it MAY be inhibiting alk, but not likely. crank all your dosers up 15% and test in a week or so. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  24. i literally know how to do most anything DIY related except programming and circuit boards :( Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
