  7. I would use marinepure in your tank 8"x8"X1" will be plenty and replace costly live rock you can get it here http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/marinepure-ceramic-biomedia-plate.html To cycle your tank I would use biospira I personally used it in my reef tank and added fish an hour later I still have the two fish today living there new home. You can get it at Petco or bulk reef supply I was skeptical until I used it. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/instant-ocean-bio-spira.html I buy my fish from different local fish stores all over if I want a certain fish I go around and see what's available I only purchase the best looking fish look at there color and how they are swimming etc. I also want to see them eat before I take them home. I would keep them in your qt for 4 weeks patience is the number one tool for success. I wouldn't keep more than 4 fish at a time in the qt in fact I would do more like one or two at a time you never want to double your tanks bio load in any given month regardless the size of the tank. Most fish stores dose copper in all fish only tanks to help combat the disease problems so you should as well it won't hurt them just ensure better health when they get transferred into the DT. I hope this answered some of your questions.

  14. Welcome! I am new to the group as well but have been in the hobby a long time. There is a lot of bad info out there for sure! What works for some might not work for others as well. Check out bulk reef supply they have some really good how to videos and I think you'll find them very helpful.
  15. Wow soooo jealous! Can't wait to see it in a year.
  16. Hello Fellow Reefer's, I introduced myself earlier I'm new to the forum and shared a little about myself. Now its up and running and I can't wait to fill it up! 17. Hello fellow reefer's I just wanted to take the time and introduce myself. I have been in the hobby of reefing since 1998 and before that had a lot of freshwater aquariums. I haven't had a reef tank in a while took a break to devote all my time to a business. About two years ago I had a cabinet shop build a custom stand for a 40 gallon breeder I wanted to have a smaller more manageable tank. I bought a pet I special and there it sat for a few years. Well now it's all set up and going well I'm on week 7 and will post the build and pictures later. Thank you for letting me ramble on and I hope I get a chance to meet some of you! Remember just keep swimming????
  18. You came to the right place I haven't found a negative post yet members are so helpful! It's nice to have people with the same passion for our hobby.
  19. You can keep your 90 and add a booster pump
  20. They will help pull out the metals so that's good. Changing the media was a good call. Now you have to cross your fingers and hope for the best
  21. I would test for heavy metals from the heater it doesn't take much copper to reek havoc on corals and inverts. The obvious stiff like remove all dead marine life from the tank. Etc.. Do you run gfo or carbon?
  22. Unfortunately unless you buy in volume which is over 2500.00 your forced to buy through a glass store like Nw glass or similar. For example a 2'x2'x1/2" non tempered is 125.00 multiply that by 5 just for easy math and you can buy a low iron glass tank for that or cheaper.
  23. I hope you have better luck then me I just had a local store drill my tank he drilled the bulkhead to low and scratched the crap out of my tank. After looking a little closer he even broke my bulk head by over tightening it. Now I have to figure out how to fix it or just start over
