Well, I called them and they wanted me to mail back both defective lights. At least they're covering shipping and expediting the return. Pretty easy customer service but I am not looking forward to what happens after 12 months...

Haha Vicky and I are watching the S3 finale right now, good timing! That's an LTA. Much safer than BTA's. Soft sting, doesn't move much and doesn't split. It's also well over a foot across.

I appreciate it Jeff. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and see if they can at the very least let me pay for expedited shipping. The good news is that the tank is doing wonderfully, even despite the light loss.

Aquahelios/Aquasanrise R120. Was supposed to be a Reefbreeders product but turned out to be a partnership. They have a new model with good reviews but those initial ones just wouldn't grow coral.

I've had them for 3 months. Warranty is 12. 3 out of 5 lights dead is a pretty bad track record. They had opened and presumably QA/QC'd this light from the look of it but apparently just power-checked it and didn't test diodes. It seems like it's the entire blue driver because it's the same 3 diodes on each of it's 2 pucks.
The timing is really frustrating for me too after a year straight of dealing with a different light that wasn't performing at all. Now it's just been months of dealing with light failures while my tank is taking off. Well, 3/4's of it is taking off anyways. Thanks for listening to me vent!

It's been like 3 months and 2 out of 4 of my Hydra 26's have died and had to be returned. I just got the replacement for the second light and all 3 'blue' diodes don't function at all. That's 3 lights that have had to be returned. They only ship UPS ground too so each time this happens I'm down a light on my tank for a week and a half. Anyone had these kinds of problems with AI products? Can I return them? I am so bummed. 😩 Again.

Why not a concern about fish health?
I think that part was implied. An open container in the tank would mean it's way too late to worry about diseases/pests and more about behavior anyways.
Looks like a nice score @shaywood. Any particular fish plans/desires that caused the purchase?

Looking forward to it!

I personally have never seen the need for it in my own tanks.

Despite my not having issues, your accident made me think about my heater safety a little bit. I just ordered this product that I am going to plug my heater controller in to. Maybe an easy answer for someone else as well.

I have literally the same two containers from the same place. Best thing I could have ever done for my water station.

I've been using this for over 3 years now with no problems:

I've never had to replace the probe either. It is connected to 2x Finnex heaters which have also never failed me. There's some complaint about it but I've never had any kind of an issue. I have an actual thermometer I keep in the sump to verify temperature regularly too. As a reefer with no interest in installing Neptune products, this was a much better option.

Weird question: Why is the back left of your tank devoid of algae while the right is covered? 🧐

It's been a real pleasure watching your system come to life over the last year. I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes from here!

Looking really amazing Andrew! That sump makes me totally jealous. I'm very excited for you and to see what you can do with it. Your old tank was amazing so I'm sure this one will be too!

At least this time it's the one on the end and it isn't impacting quite as much of the tank. Still, makes the whole thing look pretty bad for the week and a half it's going to take them to ship it to me.
-
Yep! It was $21 + $8 shipping. It's in the mail and I'm fairly confident that it'll be fine.
On a completely separate note, ANOTHER one of my Hydra 26's died on Monday. They're shipping a new one but this is 2 out of 4 completely dead within the ~3 months I've had them. Sorry, just had to gripe about that one a little. 😂

LTA's make a good alternative to BTA's. I've gone through this too and ultimately removed the BTA's completely. They're too much of a hazard.

It's been an educational year and I'm glad to have the opportunity to serve the club for another. Schools out for a while and my tank is on a major upswing finally so I'm excited to be even more a part of things!

If that causes me to trip and fall into your frag tank, do I get to keep the frags I “accidentally” stuff in my mouth? 🤣
Hopefully that doesn't include a Slimer frag... Yech!

I'm interested to see that shelf unit constructed! Seems pretty comprehensive. I didn't have a lot of luck breeding brine shrimp myself but had no clue what I was doing either.
