Lol Kim gotta love the tank deals.. thanks for the offer I'm good everything is in both my 10 gallon tanks that I have going. Luckily one ten only had sand and live rock with a leather and a few xenia. Plus I still have a 29 and a 15 gallon sitting in storage... couldn't pass up a good deal either... lol so hey on the good side I forgot just how white my sand is after I stirred it all up and did complete water changes. Yay going rock hunting tomorrow to scape my rock work... Yep totally ordering a ato tomorrow as well.... I finally got the ok to spend the cash. Lol ok ummm maybe letting her do that once in a while will give me the ok to buy more goodies for the tank

So yesterday I came home from work start getting relaxed when my better half tells me "oh I added some water to your tank (no I do not have a ATO) but I think I did something wrong." In my mind I'm happy she did that and wondered how she could do something wrong. She then said "I stopped pouring the water in as soon as I noticed it turning all white." I stare blankly for a second only to have my brain register what she just said. Hmmmm dear as I pick up the large jug. "Did you happen to use this one?" As I pick up a one gallon jug with sodium bicarbonate written on it. Yep that's the one as I quickly did a test and it's beyond 15dkh. And my tank is now a white winter storm.... so now all my corals are in the 2 ten gallon tanks and so is all my rock and fish... spent 6 hours cleaning equipment and water changes. With my better half almost in tears and swearing off ever touching the tank. Ahhh honestly what can you do she tried? So now we are have classes on water parameters.. lol Well I did want to clean my nasty sand and rebuilt my rock work guess I will finish that this weekend. So far everything is fine if not very happy in the other tanks.

Dont feel bad I have lost quiet a few corals both easy to care for and harder ones. It just happens sometimes...

Had them as well. Fished out ones on my glass and removed all my coral gave them a good dip. Then added a yellow corgis wrasse. Poof no more flat worms.

I can check later today when I get home from work I believe I have a piece around that size. Oh where are you located? Lol would be silly if your to far from me. I'm in Vancouver.

I'm sitting around 50ish on nitrates. I did just open up my rocks to allow more flow. My tank was a mess after... looks better now and the wrasse loves the new look. Saturday I'm going to vacuum out the "sump" get any junk out. I have a air driven skimmer I just don't know if I should try any kind of dosing like you did. I guess if cleaning doesn't help I will get a bag of sand and replace the old stuff little by little. I already added Marinepure several months back.

I believe if I remember right the creator of vibrant said it will kill chaeto

well I have done the bacteria dosing (still am) does nothing to help with the nitrates so dont spend money on that route. I am still battling high nitrates and its a pain. I already went threw the algae break out as well finally got rid of that and now just have high nitrates. I do water changes weekly, vaccum my sand weekly clean as much as i can weekly and still nitrates..dont have a refugium or a algae scrubber since I have a Nuvo 20 no where to put either, but I am considering a algae reactor but I dont know if it would help any...

Lol you can borrow my clowns and wrasse they love peppermint shrimp. They have all 3 killed and eaten every peppermint shrimp I put in my tank.....

Following..... I have the same issue with my Nuvo 20. I only feed ever other day and only a small amount. Only 3 small fish and some coral I thinned out a lot of corals. Use a turkey baster every day to blow the rocks to keep everything clean change water ever Saturday. Use rodi water tested all good there. No algae no phosphates. Test regularly with salifert test kits. But just can't get that nitrates down. Oh yes I do clean/vacuum the sand every other week. I'm trying to fix this issue but a little hard considering the room on the sump. Oh and I don't really have a good skimmer just a air driven one. So suger or vodka is a no go to dose this tank. Any ideas?

ah I did end up trying it out.. I completely hated it could not keep the alk stable and it was the start of my headaches.. I stopped using the salt and switched back to Coral sea pro

I ended up getting a yellow coris wrasse. He/she is awesome... doesnt bother anything but no longer see flat worms.. so Im happy

BRS 2 part and salt LOL.. Reef Christmas is tax return time then will be a MP10 and AquaMaxx HOB-1 skimmer for my nuvo 20

Ok I will check it all out... yeah really hard to watch someone eat chips,candy eat McDonald's etc... on the good side when I do eat that crap I get so sick .... I'm glad I do...Lol I use myfitnesspal app a lot and my Garmin vivo watch. Thanks for the info
