Have You Heard? Inexpensive Fix For Blue Cell Phone Pics
TheClark replied to TheClark's topic in Show Off / POTM
Cool! I need to hit the app store. Had one for a while and they discontinued it. Although I will say this thing stuff did a bang up job and I am guessing it should last forever if I can keep it clean. Great idea to bring some to the next meeting and hand it out. I am using an amber colored one FWIW. -

No white balance editing in camera and iPhone as ridiculous as that sounds -
Just an update.. The trigger has remained reef safe and is a nice show piece but a tad aggressive. He chomped my fang blenny clean in half after months together in peace. Just decided he looked good (come on fang blenny, use that venemous bite...) Sigh, fang blenny turned into an expensive fish stick.

It works awesome in Steve Sappington's tank, zero algae I mean zero. It was so impressive I put it on the Christmas list and got the 'strong'. For some reason for me it did not work as well on coraline. Also noteworthy, they say to use two of the small blades if you have acrylic, not the big blade. The big blade did put light scratches in my tank, not a huge deal but not ideal.

Of course I had to go dig mine out now and check. Darn you Sasquatch, no new heads!! Good job man Ps: my palys look peaved too :( Gel shot

Looks like he still has them for sale. They are 3.49, but 4.49 to ship. You have to click 'from these sellers', here is the link http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00P8DVX9G/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=all Still, 8 bucks to make that big of a difference, it is a decent investment! I think they come in other formats too, just sharing my low cost option here... -
Thanks for asking, I started a more appropriately titled thread to get some discussion going on the topic here: http://www.pnwmas.org/topic/34260-have-you-heard-inexpensive-fix-for-blue-cell-phone-pics/

Mine are just cut into about 2" squares. Just hold them over the lens and shoot away! -
Guessing many of you have, but just in case I wanted to share... There are these inexpensive tinted plastic 'gel filters' you can place over a lense. Example pic without filter With filter with filter pic is much closer to accurate. Its a quick and dirty helper for cell phone pics every reef keeper with a phone should have one I ordered mine here for 3.49, there are many places to pick them up since these are no longer in stock http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P8DVX9G/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Basically clear plastic you put over the camera, it strips allot of the blue out. I bought these for 3.49 a couple of weeks ago, they are no longer available: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P8DVX9G/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Picked up some gel filters for the iphone, colors are near realistic, pretty cool. So just for fun, here is a video... (was supposed to be slowmo, but upload to youtube made it regular speed).. https://youtu.be/TVMH6b1qV7k

Wow, what a tame baby shark! That is cool. That new sun coral is super bright, great placement too. Too bad the torch is all blued out in the pic, darn cameras. Sounds really nice though.

Thanks to you all!! Pretty exciting. -
You can also drill a new hole in the skimmer and pop a uniseal into it. That's what I did to mod to a recirc. Of course you still have to plug the other hole, but it saves space not having adapters.

My daughter loved this quote, cracked us up. Then we watched the 'Movie Day' camel and cracked ups some more -
I have an SRO 3000 here from a buddy, looks like it uses a custom slip fitting. A rubber like ring around the bubble blaster threads, pressure fit into the skimmer body. It will take some tinkering to adapt but it looks do-able.
-
Wow that is an awesome position to be in. Get the volute and pinwheel from BlueZ. Then all you have to do is replace the impeller (4 screws, 1 clip), and adapt to your skimmer intake (home depot plumbing run). You can also screw a 1.5" pvc gate valve on the front of the pump and hookup an airline for a DIY adjustable volute, but that is more for people who like to tinker. I just find that as you adjust the pump speed, one size volute does not necessarily fit all.

Jebao WP-40/60 on 1 inch acrylic/glass
TheClark replied to ssappington's topic in General Discussion
Oh hey Steve, I think you want 60s vs the 40s. I am doing 60s in the main tank and frag. They don't clog up and slow down like the 40s over time and you can dial em back as necessary. The RWs are supposed to be better, but I have 4 60s here so it will be a while before switching out / reinvesting. If starting from scratch the RW-20s might be a good way to go.
