  1. You guys might get a few from the Eugene Springfield area too if you don't mind Ducks.
  2. Hey Stu, you should bring a bunch of bottles of pods. Include how to culture them in your presentation and sell eek after.
  3. If you ever get to Eugene I can get you some. They are everywhere in the of my tanks.
  4. Nan, the ".05 or even .02" that you were given is ppm, parts per million, not parts per gallon. I'm not sure how you would do the conversion. But as they say, Google is your friend. I would probably start looking for a new test kit. They are a good investment for the future anyway.
  5. You stated that you have a kalkwasser drip going. Do you dose magnesium at all? I'm not familiar with reef crystals chemistry but Kent reef salt mixes up with higher than normal mag, and calcium. You might try a few water changes with that, see where you end up. If not I would start dosing some magnesium. Do it slowly and watch you numbers as you dose.
  6. Check your magnesium. Without the balance of magnesium you will have trouble keeping up your alk and calcium. Also, what is your coral load, any clams?
  7. I might be willing to trade you one of my MP-40's for two or three of your MP-10's. I could use the flow diversity.
  8. How many MP-10's are you willing to trade for an MP-40?
  9. A frag rack it's not really necessary unless you end up with no place to put your corals. A hole in a rock can hold a frag plug. If you choose to glue your new frag to rock rubble, the sand bed can be acceptable, unless you have a large evil pistol shrimp that likes to steal zoa frags and drag them into it's lair. Oh wait, that was me.
  10. I haven't had the meter for months. I gave it to Jeff.

  12. use a lower ISO and you will get rid of a lot of that grain. You may need a tripod to keep it steady at a lower ISO because you will need a slower shutter speed, but you will like the results. You can open the aperture, lower f-stop to increase your shutter speed but this will also give you a shallower depth of field. Its a balancing act.
  13. Get there early for the free pizza. This will be limited, however, the real treat will be Stu, and his presentation on Coldwater reefkeeping!
  14. Who said dirtbikes aren't motorcycles? Dirt bikes, cruisers, sportbikes, flat track, cafe racers, just no scooters! Heck, if bicycle bill wants to strap a Briggs& Stratton to his mountain bike, that would work too.
  15. It just says Motorcycles.
  16. Ok, I know there are riders out there. Lets see your Bikes! Here's mine on a trip I made a couple of years ago:
  17. Matt, I ride a Honda VTX1300. Everywhere I go people think its a Harley because its a big cruiser. A place to start would be to take the Team Oregon Beginners riding class. They are offered at many of the community colleges. When you pass it also gives you a pass on taking the skills test at your local DMV. I would start with something of moderate size, say a 750 or so and a used one at that. That way, when you drop it in a parking lot, your driveway or God forbid on the street, you wont be dropping a 20K motorcycle. If you talk to anybody who has ridden for a while they will tell you that if you ride, and haven't gone down on your bike, its a matter of when not if. Not trying to scare any one off, just telling it like it is. Its better to get comfortable on a smaller, more maneuverable bike than a big heavy one. Riding on the street is a completely different world that dirt riding. I grew up on dirt bikes and never felt like everyone was trying to kill be till I rode on the street for a while. Personally I love to ride. If its for you you will know it within the first few months, if not you will figure it out just as fast. Another reason to start with something less expensive than a Harley. On the other hand, like reefkeeping, people jumping into motorcycles and figuring out its just not for them is a great way for the rest of us to get some great deals on almost new bikes.
  18. I add my second leopard wrasse too the reef yesterday afternoon. They swam together with no signs of aggression. The new one was a little late getting up this morning by they are now swimming together again. I'm hoping they will pair up with one changing to male. The following is a Flickr link to the video. https://flic.kr/p/prdDEB
  19. I have a vertex 150 that is virtually silent and dies a great job. The vertex takes a while to get dialed in but once you get it they are awesome. I also have a skimz 181 on my frag tank. I had to replace the impeller but once I got that it runs great as well. The vertex is running on my 90 gal reef and the frag tank is about 80 gal.

  21. I'm thinking lawnmowers and clams are fine.
  22. I want to add my thanks to you Chief! As another south valley reefer, who got his start through the help of the folks on this board, I justwant you to know that we all appreciate the work you have done over the years. I hope that next time we have a south valley tank tour, that you will join us.
  23. I'm sorry I can't help with this but I use the Hannah alk checker. Takes all the guesswork out if the colors.
