1. Yeah Garrett, I really like my lizard Gary. We sort of just stare at each other, and he runs over to me to be fed, but doesn't like to be handled. he tolerates petting. But recently I found he likes to be peeled when he is almost through with a molt... And yeah - I can't wait to clean that tank I got, and get it up on a stnd - thinking of putting in some pretty trick features. Frag station that pulls out, hidden controller/monitor panel. maybe a drawer or two...I'm going to way over do it. And I mill all of my own molding, so it will be cool to match up a few different styles before buttoning it all up. I am going to start a thread as soon as I get a couple projects out of the way - the lizard tank, work on my truck, etc.
2. Changing to 2 setups individual. 1 each: Lumatek ballast Lumenarc mini, w SE socket Lamp cord and 2 bulbs - 1 15k XM (3 months), 120k SPS (6 months) $125 each or $250 for both Or best offer.
3. APS battery backup for the low wattage pumps. Saved me once a long time ago. A nearly dead calm sea must happen sometime in the wild though.
4. That guy is cool! I really do hope you are able to keep him without mishap.
5. Most probable - swordfish: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/giant-eyeball-fla-beach-swordfish-17481320#.UHw3VoaP1D8 Goonies will be disappointed...and Chester Copperpot died for nothing...
6. So is that only 5 of us since reefnjunkie bailed? No blame placing - price point is price point...
7. Is there a brand name or a pic you can post? Thinking about building a reactor.
8. Really cool - my girlfriend saw when it posted last night and showed it to me.
9. Nice pic of the poker star. I did not notice all the plumbing when I first saw it. Good write-up, man, and I really like display fuges.
10. Okay - I'm in just let me know when and how and I will order what I need.
11. Are the prices better than when ordering as a preferred customer or what?? I joined PNWMAS friday if that helps clear anything up. I am starting a new tank and need a new RO membrane and flow restrictor...and maybe a DI canister as my water here is really hard - tested out the roof for TDS...I suspect calcium and silicates, but need to look up the local water report. And then run chemical tests. pH is like 4.0 - 4.3...ech
12. So, you're running LED supplemented by T5's? I am not questioning growth or color, your animals look very healthy and all have new growth indicators. I am asking more from an experimental control point of view...ohhhh...300g cube - I just saw that...mind blowing is what I chimed in to say....never mind the rest.
13. You opened it up nicely. I like the taller formations in the corners. Everything looks real healthy, too.
14. Pretty good size child kennel - he can lie down, turn around...might need some food/water dishes but he's going to outgrow that thing fast.
15. What the f is "kill a pit day"? Who dreams up this sh!t?? Appalling...I don't own one, but I have in the past and they are great when brought up properly. I hope no one mistakes my two furry idiots for a pit in some drug induced delirium....
16. With 24" width, you may want to think doing a full euro brace if you intend to build out of 3/8". You can't even imagine how worrisome bowing glass is. Glass is very easy to fracture under stress. I know this sounds obvious, but I have seen 1" thick glass shatter at a tap because it was being flexed. Not an aquarium, a window, but water is really messy. Also, think of the weight of water wanting to force itself down and out in all directions - as gravity and water's properties dictate. So make sure your silicone bonds are complete and well cured before adding water. Good luck dude - always a great deal of satisfaction from building your own tank.
17. Mandings's advice was right on the money - be careful of starting a cycle as well. I've seen beautiful, well established tanks go on immediate decline after too aggressive of a 'scape shake up.
18. WOW!!! Awesome looking tanks out there - some of the best I have ever seen!!! You guys are f'n serious! Great work, all of you - not a dog in the lot...er, except for that frag tank...
19. Thanks - I need a new macro lens before I can do that, but whatever . I had to dump a bunch of photo equipment in lean times a little over 2 years ago and haven't made the commitment to pony up for new stuff. Camera itself isn't everything - you gotta know how to use the tool. These were just quick, hand-held snaps in low light. Side note: started cleaning up the tank you sold me, I am definitely gonna modify this sucker. Getting rid of that crappy overflow is going to be the biggest challenge unless I just give that whole left side the chop...
20. Hey thanks - Gary doesn't really like to be handled - he had a stand-off with one of my dogs when he was little and can't stand to be picked up any more. He likes being petted and swimming though. He jumps around a lot. And is very watchful and places himself to see what is going on. The bottom 9 inches of the tank pictured will be filled with water - all fed from a sump below to a waterfall at the very top middle. The project has slowed way down due to concrete curing times, but I hope to start finish painting the interior this week and get him in there in less than 2 more weeks. This dog: 13388[ /ATTACH] all 97 pounds of him...
21. He's a Chinese Water Dragon. Here's a pic of when I first got him.
22. Awesome - very cool to donate time for education. Keep up the good work. I would like to keep apprised of these types of things in the future so I might donate or help out in any way I can! Did I say awesome yet?
