  1. They are pretty big but I probably over feed my fish a bit (scary). I like to keep them fat and happy so that might be the difference
  2. Happy Memorial Day! And a huge thank you to all those who have served our country. We can never thank you enough for your sevice
  3. Hello Everyone, Well I need to sell my light (sad). The older house we rent just can't handle the power it takes to run this plus the tank with out running wires everywhere creating tripping hazards or calling an electrician. Not doing electrical in a house I don't own and I'm a klutz so...... I need to go a different route with my final tank light. MH bulbs are mix matched. I got these at West Side and didn't notice until they shut down. Here is the stats 6' Sunlight Supply Maristar fixture 70.4" x 13.75" x 4.3" 3 x 250 watt MH 4 x 39 T-5 HO Good condition Bulbs are all brand new, only used long enough to test them 2 x Ushio 20,000 K 1 x Phoenix 14,000 K 4 x 39 watt T-5 HO Actinic Ballast, I have a duel Sunlight Supply 250 watt that will go with this fixture. I only planned on running two of the bulbs so I have the one ballest. I am asking what I payed for this $400 New prices run from $700 - $1200 without bulbs or ballast so I think this is a great deal This is a great light and if the ancient circuit breaker could handle it and the tank I would not be selling. Fell free to PM or post with any questions Thanks for looking
  4. That's my favorite fish too I have been doing a ton of reading on these guys. Here is what my take on it is. This fish is not for a new setup, they do best in a established stable tank. They need a longer tank to thrive, luckily mine is six foot so I just eek by on this one. Also make sure that its eating at the store or persons house before you buy it as some will not ever aclimate to captivity. Also I have been told that the smaller ones usually do better adjusting to life in a tank. I hope this is helpful and enjoy these awsome critters.
  5. Hey what ever you and your frag do behind closed doors is non of my buisness :o I think we have all had issues with super glue. never in my mouth but got my lips once, which was not much fun. By the way your not altering your frag are you (enforcer)
  6. Don't get too discouraged, we have all gone through this learning curve. The sea is a crule mistress If it were me I would get a good dip and go ahead and dip all your zoa's and paly's. Like reefjunkie said I couldn't hurt anything. I would switch out some salt water for fresh water to get you salinity down. I know some LFS keep there salt that high but its not good long term. Ideally for coral it should be from 1.024 - 1.026. I aim for 1.025 so if it swings a bit one way or the other I'm still in the good place. Every one has a opinion on the temp of a tank and has what works for them. I try for 78 - 80. But what ever works for your critters. The ocean can swing pretty dramatically pretty quick and these things do fine in there. I don't recomend a big swing, gotta keep our friends comfy (whistle) Are you on city water? RODI units are ideal but you can get away without one (some one is going to kill me for that one I'm sure). My house has a well and is on a natural gravel bed. My water is acutally pretty good. If you are on city water I would recomend treating it for metals before using it on a reef tank. I don't think this is the root of you problem or your other corals would be angry too. Keep up the good fight, polyps are pretty hardy. After you get them happy they sould color up and be worth the battle
  7. THATS HORRIBLE! It never stops teriffiying me how some people can treat a living creature I'm not sure I would classify them as human
  8. Obviously a diffrent coral, fist picture it had a nice curve and now its straight. Something fishy is going on (fishhit) On a serious note looks good, mine needs to buck up a bit here.
  9. Oh man I won't be there until Thursday (sad) Working retail has its down side Good luck with the sale, some great deals to be had.
  10. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM (clap) (yahoo) (flower) (party) (fish)
  11. Thats cool, what kind of star is the big one?
  12. I started dipping my new corals a couple months ago. I read a article about zoa spiders and that was enough for me to stop risking my coral. The Premium Aquarium recommended ReVive coral cleaner so that is what I have been using. So far no spiders or infections. Plus dead easy to use. Although I still love to dip cookies in coffee, I'm a good Oregonian I know very little about T-5 color spectrums so I am no help here but if your looking to get some new bulbs we have a BRS group buy being formed now. I'm sure you can get in on this once you decide wich bulbs you would like to try.
  13. Ok two people have twisted my arm now (laugh) Put me down for the acan too Thank you
  14. What are your water perameters? Do you use any dips or quarinten new arrivals? Both Paly's and zoa's are pretty hardy IME but it sounds like they are unhappy for some reason. PS a picture would be most helpful
  15. Wow that was a quick cycle, I'm jealous. I had to look at a box of water for more than a month (nutty) Nice Acan, I love the LPS corals (rock2). I wouldn't worry too much about the wrasse burring him self, both mine did that when they first went in.
  16. Would you be willing to hold until next week, I won't be down in salem until the salt group buy comes in. If you can I would love to have the raspberry red zoa's. I can paypal the money today so you have it for the weekend
  17. Payment sent, Thank you for putting this together
  18. This one came from a place I no longer recomend but Garrett down is Salem carries them I do belive. And they are pretty cheep like $20 Its the Thrive frag tree
  19. Always some thing that I could use, PM sent
  20. +1 With Burningbaal What size tank do you have, if its large enough you can't beat a good tang. My Bristle Tooth took care of what I had in a matter of a day or two (Small amout granted) If its too small then the emeralds enjoy it as well. (Bristle tooths are awesome fish but can be brats, just so you know) The refugium is a great way to naturaly absorb NO3 and PO4. Also GFO is great for PO4. Bio Balls and similar I have read could increase you NO3 over time. Get some test kits made for the marine aquariums. And be sure to test you water supply, you may be suprized by how much is in your water to begin with. I have a well that is generally awesome but does have a trace of PO4. So I run the GFO to nutrilize it. I hope this helps and good luck with the battle
  21. I'll say Atlantic Blue Tang (Acanthurus coeruleus) What do I win (whistle)
  22. Alright its my turn to keep the love going (naughty) After winning some awesome zoa's on the last share the love (thank you again Heather) I had a hard time picking one of my baby's to send off (scary). I finally decided to give up some of the good stuff and picked one of my Ricordea Mushroom (Ricordea florida). Here is a bad picture of a nice coral. And I found a bonus, when I moved it off my frag rack I found it had a baby. The baby was under another frag so it needs to color up but a great bonus non the less (drinking) I will keep this simple. Just make sure you have "share the love" some where in you relpy. I will use a random number generator after work on Monday evening to see who will win And since I have your attentions some tank shots from tonight (whistle) Darn eight line wrasse wanted to be in every pic DOH!
  23. Interesting to hear that there was less fish imported then thought. That is usualy the other way around. Also a good reminder that the few extra buck for tank raised when possible is defiantly worth it
