  1. Wierd, i sent a picture of my burned up diodes but i still had to buy the replacement diodes. I am beyond the one year warranty though so i didnt question it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  2. Did you figure out what causes the royal blues to burn up? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  3. Yes, just got done replacing 80 Royal blue LEDs. Noticed a pretty dramatic color difference right off the bat. We will see how they do now.
  4. has anyone tried to convert one of these boxes to a DIY Cree led setup? If so lets see some pics of the build please.
  5. I have an email into Ocean Revive, waiting for a response. I seriously thinking about building new fixtures from Rapid LED.
  6. I think the water stripping is exactly what happened. I was fighting some green hair algae and I think I got too aggressive with my gfo. Was wondering more about the light issue though. I read a post somewhere about the diodes turning black and causing coral issues. I know the blue diodes are turning black. Anybody had any experience with these LEDs causing problems?
  7. poor polyp extension, followed by a dulling of color then the coral will turn white, usually starting at the tips and working down. I moved to a new house about 6 months ago and lost most of my coral in the move. Now new frags I buy follow this same pattern. One point the degradation of coral was very fast when I was using GFO and carbon. I stopped using both for now and the dieing slowed down. Then I discovered the light issue. Salinity is 1.025 Alk 10.2 Mag 1400 Calcium 440 I run a calcium reactor so levels are very stable.
  8. Looking for opinions from experienced LED users. I had a blue channel fail on one of my OR lights. Had them about 2 years so no warranty. After taking the light apart I found 2 bad blue LEDs. I notice that all of the blue LEDs on this fixture are black in appearance. Looking like the LED is burnt, but most still light up normally. After a read on the internet about the burnt LEDs I inspected the other 4 fixtures I own and about half the blue LEDs on all 4 fixtures have the same burnt appearance and dim light. I have been having trouble with my SPS corals for quite some time. I test my water and all parameters seem to be perfect that I test for. Could these "burnt" LEDs be causing my poor SPS health? Fans are all operational on all the lighting units.
  9. It was a beautiful day though. Too bad the ducks didnt show up to play. Very disappointing. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  10. I bought used 55 gallon plastic drums off craigslist for cheap that I use for storage and mixing of my fresh and saltwater. Just make sure they were used for food and not chemicals. You can find cheap water pumps on amazon. I think I paid $25 for the last one I bought to mix saltwater with. Something in the 500gph range should move enough water that you are not waiting very long.
  11. OK. Thought I would ask since its a really good price. Just a little bit of a drive.
  12. 2 heads still on the paly 16 on the zoas Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  13. yep, still red. Mine is under Ocean Revive S026 units.
  14. I still have mine. It hasnt grown a whole lot though. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  15. Any glass shop will cut glass to your measurements for you. Just silicone them in. As far as cutting holes, glass bits are cheap online and lots of videos showing how. Im cheap so I always learned online and tackled these projects myself.
  16. Mine are not very fast growers, however my tank is SPS dominant. I think I counted 15 heads on the zoa. My paly hasn't done anything since I got it. Its pretty though. Still at 2 heads.
  17. Must resist.........no room in house.......will have to sell the couch.......
  18. lol, new2saltwater fit 6 years ago when I made the account
  19. here is one of the last pictures I took when it was getting real bad. The purplicious in the picture did not survive unfortunately.
  20. not sure exactly what did it. I fed my fish half as much over the course of the last 4 months. Water changes every 2 weeks. Fresh carbon every 2 weeks and fresh GFO every 4 weeks. Added a variety of snails. Replaced the protein skimmer about 6 months ago. It has been quite a battle. I didn't have near the problems with my 100 gallon tank as I have battled with this tank.
  21. Its been a long time since I have wanted to photograph anything in my tank. I have been battling green hair algae for quite some time. At one point it was a thick fur on every surface in my tank with a layer of red fur on the entire sand bed. I am finally winning the battle and the tank is starting to look pretty dang good
