I got confused when you used "return". You meant the outlet? I would keep it 2" and use 3 of 2'-tee-1/2. Or 2 of 3/4 and 1 of 1/2. Reactors ( calc, phostphate, carbon...etc) use little flow unless you might have a need for the 1/2 later to hook to a frag tank :-). You got good size system, why not go for external pump baracuda/hammerhead? I have just baracuda (still have the hammerhead impeller laying somewhere in my garage) to run my dt 210gal and my frag (50gal) and still has plenty of flow ( from my garage to my living room...that's 35feetlong and 4ft high push...it's a very strong pump except for the leak, but i got a cure for it )

thats 3900gph? u might need 2 of 1' or a single 2" return with reduce valve. I use baracuda and a single 1.5 cant keep up with the return from the push. I should have plummed my tank 2' for both return and emergency return.

My .02 cents ( speaking from my experiences ) 1. I would stay away from all the Regal skimmers. The DC pumps are very sensitive and very unstable ( might has to do with DC converting/current ). I got both 250SSS and 300SSS and they were nothing but garbage for me, and collecting dust in my garage. The ASM G4xx (sedra 15000) smokes them. ASM G4xx a bit noisier and more electricity but it skims extremely/consistently well. I have both ASM G4xx in my both my 1000Gal and 300 Gal systems. 2. Reeflow is a very good pump but it leaks like hell ( at least for me ). New pump leaked right of the bat and replacement leaked withing few months ( the seal was nasty rusty and gave out....see the attached pic ). Have this handy spare seal: U.S. Seal PS-1905 Silicon Carbide Seal . I replaced with PS-1905 seal and the pump work like a champ so far.

He missed out "Yellow, Orange colors". and we are still searching for an answer for yellow/orange color acro. Possible to have: deep purple, deep red, hot pink, bight yellowish, and orangeish in same tank? I got yellow/orangeish but cant coexist with deep purple/red. Vise versa, deep purple/red but greenish looking acro ( no more yellow or orange )

Will try. My tank is battling AEFW and others....once I can get a handle of it.....I hope or hope not to tear it down.

Just like u, in the past, I went through 800gal garden pond to 2000gal garden pond and finally settle for this ~9000 gal KOI pond (25x14x4.5). I spent quite some $$ with tranquility store on my first 2 ponds and they all ended up some where in my yards collected dust or broke down under Sun's UV un-used. Decide on what you want and do lot research and visit the places that I recommended ( or visit my pond ) prior any purchases or it will cost fortune and does nothing. All these filter out there rated for 5000gal, probably is good for just 500 gal pond without any fishes....so be aware!!! All my 9000 gal pond materials were purchased with Horizon and home depot and few things from the recommended stores above ( bottom drains, UV ). Good luck!

Here are attached of my old pic of my pond back 2010 when I just built it. and newest pic of koi fishes. If you are interested in koi pond (or garden pond ) and koi in general, come by to check out my pond and my setup prior spending your $$ on wrong equipments. Been there and done that and it was waste $$ and no fun.

Garden pond is the one without bottom drain(s). Bottom drains should be located at deepest point at bottom of pond and only way to get fish waste out of the pond.

That used to be a garden pond. Do you want to restore it back to garden pond or make it to koi pond? It seems like that used to be a garden pond and around 1500-2000 gal pond. That also has a skimmer, so you want to run 1 pump around 5500gal pump to split out to skimmer and filteration to save electricity bill. If you want a koi pond? A lot more work with bottom drains and heavier filterations. My koi pond is ~9000gal and if you are interested for some ideas, you can come by to learn and get some ideas to do it right way; otherwise, it costs a lot more $$ to rebuild and $$ maintainance in long run.
