  1. I did Steve. I lowered the water level in the overflow a tiny bit, and that did the trick. I guess too much water going down the secondary pipe makes noise. Now that I'm an Apex expert (naughty) , I'm sure I can help u out if u need it.
  2. Thanks Trent. I did figure out the Apex....it wasn't easy, but I finally got it working! I ended up buying this adapter.... http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-WNCE2001-Universal-Internet-Adapter/dp/B003KPBRRW/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1336187701&sr=1-2 They had refurbished ones for half the price, so I jumped on it. I got a little help from the guys on RC and after that it was smooth sailing. Once I figure out how to use everything properly, I'm sure I'll never want any other controller.
  3. Tank is filled! Just an update....the tank is filled and cycling. Still have ammonia present, with no nitrites or nitrates, so we will see how long the cycle takes. I added mostly dry rock, with a couple pieces of live rock and a little bit of live sand. Lights on.... Left side.... Right side.... I'm not sure if I like all of the aquascape yet, so there might be some changes made. Nothing major, just a few tweaks here and there.
  4. Not a problem Kim, I'm just happy u are bringing it over and making an exception for me (shy). This will be the first coral going into my new tank....it will probably die, but u never know. I guess it will be my GOC and tester frag. Hopefully it survives and I can talk some $@&$(@!* too (censored). Cya on saturday
  5. New tank is looking good! What are the 3 outlets coming off of your return pump going to be used for?
  6. Shouldn't the polyps be showing upward? The polyps on the frags in question seem to be pointing down
  7. Love the new fish! The brown and the blue get along ok? I heard that u couldn't have both fish in the same tank
  8. Water! Been out-of-town for about a week and have been going crazy wanting to get this tank ready. Soon as I got back to town, it was off to work for another 24 hours (only 4 of those hours were spent sleeping (sad)).....but water was started and the tank is slowly filling. Hopefully it will be filled sometime tomorrow and I can get this cycle going. Got a few of the dry rock in place, but have some live rock left to put in.
  9. The overflow gaps are 1/4 inch and they are spaced about 1/2 inch apart. Thanks for the compliment.....the title of the thread says it all 60x30x24
  10. It looks like your frag got glued to the plug upside down (nutty)(scratch)
  11. Hey Danik, looks like u need to make room in the frag tank. When can I come over? My tank is almost ready!
  12. That's a 4.5 inch fan.....Looks a lot bigger in person.
  13. Cap is drilled, just don't have any tubing to put into the hole LOL
  14. Plumbing.... After working on this thing for the last 2 days and making multiple trips to Home Depot, I think it's finally done. Since I have no idea how to plumb a reef system, I hope everything works ok. I still need to tweak the return plumbing, along with the Bean Animal overflow, but everything else is done (I think (scratch)). I wanted to have everything setup before Monday, but it took longer than I thought, so now I have to wait until next week to fill it with water and get my cycle going (since we are headed out-of-town tomorrow, for the week). Let me know what u guys think, positive or negative, so I can make some changes if needed. Smann gave me a little advice about putting insulation under the stand to damper noise and vibration.... Here is the finished product.....
  15. It's finally HERE! Tank arrived today and looks great! Still need to do some mock plumbing and figure out where my holes need to be cut in back of the stand. Hopefully I can get some of this done tonight after the kids are asleep....
  16. The stand is stained and sealed, but should I do the same for the plywood I'm adding on top?
  17. Quick question for u guys, should a stain/seal the plywood that the tank will be sitting on? I would hope it wouldn't be getting wet, but I wasn't sure if it needed to be sealed
  18. I don't think he uses the forum very much either
  19. Thanks u guys.....there will be plywood between the tank and stand, its just not in the picture
  20. Stand is done! Finally had time to finish staining the stand :p............the doors went on shortly after, along with the hardware. I wanted to ask if anyone uses some sort of catch-all on the bottom of there stand (underneath the sump)? I was thinking if any water leaked or overflowed out of my sump, it would be caught in the stand and not pour out onto the carpet. I've never actually seen one, but I wanted to ask. Let me know what u guys think. Here is the finished product....
  21. Skimmer and Return Pump Got some new toys in the mail today....my skimmer and return pump! After doing tons of research and asking everyone's opinion, I decided to go with ATB. I didn't want to spend the extra money (since I don't have any extra money), but I wanted to do things right for this tank build. The one common thing everyone tells me when putting a system together is get the best lighting and skimmer u can possibly get. I hope these do the job. The skimmer is an ATB 1050a v1.5......http://atbskimmers.com/atb-1050a-v1-5/ The return pump is Flowstar 1500.......http://atbskimmers.com/flowstar-1500/ Here are a couple pics....
  22. Finishing the stand I had to work a double shift at the station this weekend, but I used some of that time to stain the doors to my stand. When I got home today, I threw a coat of stain on my stand as well. I'll give it a few hours to dry and throw another coat on tonight. Not sure what to do on the inside yet....I'm thinking maybe stain it, but with only one coat. The doors turned out great. I used a stain/poly mix, so it stained and sealed at the same time.... Now it's the stands turn...
  23. Trust me, I would never spend that kind of money for any coral
  24. Here is the link to the thread about the guy that bought the $1500 frag, enjoy lol...... http://www.reef2reef.com/forums/general-lps-discussion/81983-sc-dynamite-cherry-sour-my-2-a.html
