  1. We change 275 gallons every 2 weeks on the 1400 gallon system, 50 gallons every 2 weeks on our 340gallon systems and 50 gallons on the 120 gallon invert system ever 2 weeks. water changes are key in this hobby to keeping a successful reef tank. There are many ways to skirt around it but in the end a good water change fixes alot of problems that otherwise probably could have been avoided.
  2. you should be able to use it. theres just probably some setup in order to get it to function properly. welcome to the wonderful complex world of SLR. its not just P&S now baby!
  3. not sure, probably need to talk to a local pro, because that i am not.
  4. looks like you need to run it in either A, P or S mode to mess with the flash and speed settings when your using a noncpu lens.
  5. what happens if you put it back on auto
  6. you should have a flash button on the side of the body somewhere, when you hold it down you can cycle modes with the thumb wheel.
  7. your welcome to borrow my macro lenses if you want.
  8. if its a non cpu lens it can be used in mode M, but exposure meter does not function and electronic range finder can be used if maximum aperture is f/5.6 or more
  9. we need to know what lens your using, there are certain types of lenses that will not work on that camera.
  10. bottled water is made for human consumption so it has additional minerals and additives in it, its not regulated very well, there's even been cases of finding arsenic, ecoli, etc. in bottle water. Nothing beats a true RODI 0TDS water from LFS or your own system.
  11. I'm with garett on this one. I also have both canon and nikon and prefer my nikon over the canon. A good macro lense will probably be in your future as well The joys of going DSLR are almost as addicting and as expensive as this reef hobby we so enjoy.

    Wrasse add on?

yellow corris wrasse, 4 line wrasse, green corris will all eat flat worms and are very community friendly fish.
  13. Tank stats. I'm dosing daily to bring levels up more so i will put in the range where it will probably be when or if you pickup the frags as of today through this weekend. Alk DKH - 9-9.5 Cal: 420-450 Mag: 1100-1250 Salinity: 1.024-.025
  14. i keep it simple. complexity can have its good and bad sides, where people get into trouble is lack of maintenance. If you stop checking things and testing mechanics then you have a much greater chance of having a disaster occur.
  15. guess it wasn't the best hide and go seek spot after all.
  16. I had a peppermint that would spawn every few weeks.
  17. dang brad thats pretty sweet looking. Theres still some empty spots though.
  18. its your risk, they were just fragged only 2 days ago but if its fine with jesse then i really don't care.
  19. just a standard float valve
  20. the fragz look even better today so i don't see why a sat/sun pickup wouldn't be fine, obviously the sooner you get to the shop the more frags you will be able to choose from.
  21. how do we say, the pudding is proof that i gotz skillz? LOL don't hate on kim now. I hear brads pretty good at it too.
