it might be a little high in the tank. that is why it looks like just the parts that the light is shining on are a little whiter. then again it could just be the picture. I would double check your water temp. after you check your water temp check it again. do this with 3 different temp gauges too.

I really like the idea of a section about home built tanks! no I really did not expect anyone to change the title of their threads. I was really just making an observation and see if it is me that is backwards or if other people find them self going into a "build thread" and after the 10th page it is a store bought tank. maybe it is just me.

I am not talking down to anyone who puts a system together. I did the same thing. But I would not label a thread. "90 Gallon tank Build Thread" that is like buying a mobile home, moving it onto some land. Hooking up the sewer, water, and electric and saying you built a house. Well we moved the furniture in it, and I built the stairs that go to the front door. I enjoy seeing people put systems together and see what lights, skimmers, etc that they use. I think a better label for the thread would be "90 Gallon assembly thread" or something like that.

I am glad that everyone enjoys the build threads but I must not have gotten my point across. I enjoy "build" threads also. they are great to read and follow along, and the pictures are great. HERE WAS MY POINT when it the title it says for example. "250 gallon build thread" one would assume that person is "building" the tank. when in fact all they are doing is putting store bought parts together. I wish the title would read "250 Gallon assemble thread" it would make it easier when looking for info on "building" a glass aquarium. is there something I am missing. if someone is building a tank from scratch should it say DIY in the title or something? do you all get where I am coming from or do I stand alone?

so a threat of personal harm or something like that? I take it even jokingly will be taken seriously? seems a little extreme but rules are rules. I figured the rule that was broken was in the rules but I did not know which one. Well let this be a lesson then. looks like there is no tolerance for that kind of thing. I have heard a lot of people moving from RC to R2R and here because of their crazy guidelines and rules. A threat rule does not sound like a bad rule.

I see they did not post why he got banned. I personally like to know so I don't do the same thing. I hate when good people get banned. you can't just start a thread like that with out any inside knowledge goodies.

LOL I thought someone got a Miami hurricane challis for Christmas. I wanted to check it out. I see I was wrong. I have this Challis in my tank so I was not jealous. now I see you went to Miami. I am jealous. I can not compete with that! someday.........

I am using black. you had the 108 and 103 backwards for the color but I figured it out LOL the tank is going to be an inwall tank and you will be able to see it from 2 differnt rooms. the kitchen and the office. the tank is going to be 20 wide by 16 wide by 30 tall

yes I saw your build thread. I already asked you about silicone! ordered it from Granger down here in Medford. I went and picked up the glass on my lunch hour. probably going to start siliconing it together in the next week or so. I can't wait! it is going to be sweet...... nothing like putting a tank in the wall in the kitchen! I have a Great Wife! going to plumb it into my existing 90 gallon about 25 feet away. will have to run the plumbing under the house.

So I am going to "Build" my own tank. I mean buy the glass and glue it together and say a few prayers and hope to stays together. Ok I have done research I am sure it will be fine and I plan on doing a BUILD thread for it so that people can look at it for a laugh or to learn something. I do searches and there are tons of "build" thread about people putting tanks together. Does this bug anyone else, or just me?

I have never been stung at all. my brother got stung by a hammer. I wear them because I have noticed that when I frag and work it my tank the corals do not get hurt. I work on cars every so often also. So for me it is to keep my tank and coral clean. try and keep the oils and other things off the corals when I touch them. I know people say wash your hands. I do but when you work on cars it is hard to get it all out of your finger nails and everything.

I use disposable gloves that food handlers use. get about 700 of them for $5. split them with 5 friends. get over 100 gloves for a buck.

I have some blue candy cane, yellow toad stool, mushrooms, zoas, birds nest, and a bunch of other stuff. I may be heading to Clackamas this weekend for a calcium reactor. let me know I could drop them off for you. also have zenia, several leathers let me know what you are looking for. I had this same thing happen 2 years ago. luckily my brother and I share when we get new stuff so I had a back up of most everything. although all of my LPS and softies lived.

do you have a link to the black silicone that you were going to use? how much space do you leave at the joints? I have been told a tooth pick. is that right?

where are some more updates on this? getting ready to build a 41 gallon tank and I need you to build yours first! it is going to be 16x20x30 tall. if that goes smoothly I will be building a 28x50x30 tall. for the 41 gallon it is going to be rimless with 3/8 glass I was planning on the larger one going rimless with 1/2 but thinking it might have to be 5/8 thick.
