  1. I am sorry to post that I am pulled the plug on this build. I really wanted to give it a try but I just do not have the time. I am sorry to those of you that were following along. I just have to much going on right now. I did post the drivers for sale on reef central. I was also going to justice the hood but if someone offered me $100 I would take it. There is over 300 just in leds if I do not get interest I am going to put it in the attic or garbage lol I have now decided yet I did buy some generic 120watt led reed lights on ebay. Got them very reasonable. I will do a little review thread on them when I get them. I donor like doing review treads but I could not find any customer reviews or anything on these when I was researching them. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk

  6. those are strips of copper. I wired it once with just wire and the LEDs started failing and burning out. I am thinking it was because they were over heating. So I am trying to use these as heat sinks. we will see if they work.

  13. Things are going slow but I got the over flow holes drilled. 2 one inch holes for the bulk heads. I am going to try and silicone the over flow wall in tonight. this pic is one hole complete and about half way through the second.

  15. this is with a $100 Kodak Z650 that we bought about 3 years ago and a $20 ebay macro 10X lens just a few pics from my tank the setting on the camera was on SCN mode and set to FLOWER inside that mode
  16. my main display tank is about 20 feet way in the living room. my plan is to plumb it into that tank so that they are on one system. Still waiting to see what size pump I am going to need and if it is going to drain correctly.
  17. So I got the tank all sealed up. Put it in place for now just to get it out of the way and let the silicone cure. still have to finish building the stand. need a lot more support of course. this is just to hold just the tank for now. once the silicon is cured I will add the overflow and finish up the supports in the stand View from the kitchen View from the office
  18. just what you see in the pics. the corner clamps at the top and the 2 other clamps at the bottom. made sure the spacing was the same all the way down. seemed to work great if I put anymore pressure I was afraid it would push all the silicone out of the seem. I did not use spacers.
  19. the "build" has started here it is for those of you that wanted the link http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/showthread.php?p=235580#post235580
  20. Well the time has come to start a second tank in the house. We have been remodeling and there was some wasted space in the room sharing a wall with our kitchen so we decided to put a tank there. My wife and I have always wanted a tank with 10 or more clowns with anemones and some other softies. Maybe some Ricordeas, mushrooms and some Zoas in between the space we were going to put it was going to need a custom tank and we are cheep. So here is the build of that tank. Materials Glass 1 Piece 16 x 20 (bottom) 2 Pieces 16 x 30 (sides) 2 Pieces 19 1/8 x 30 (sides) All bought from Farrels Glass in Medford Oregon let me just say these pieces were cut perfect! all five pieces are out of 3/8 non tempered Cost $150. Corner clamps Harbor Frieght Item 1852 Cost $2.99 Each used 4 Silicone Momentive RTV 103 Grainger Medford Oregon Item 4UH10 Cost $9.99 Each Bought 3, Used half of one(I guess I got extra if anyone needs it(laugh)) Enough boring words here are some pics. here I am dry fitting everything to make sure all the edges line up here is the dry fit complete Dry fit complete. 12 oz soda can for size comparison then we pulled the whole thing apart and started siliconing this was the first pic we could get because my wife was helping me hold glass up as I was placing the clamps Got to get those edges perfect! not sure why. you can't see them once the tank is in the wall(nutty) "Oh that looks nice" that is what I am thinking by the way. here is where the Tank is going to go view from the kitchen View from the office I will get wider view pictures but the rooms were a mess. Tonight I am going to seal the Tank. right now I just siliconed the flat joints. With the clamps I could not see an easy way to drag my finger all the way up the inside, so I thought I would do it in to stages. after tonight there will be a 2 week cure period and then maybe a 3 or 4 day leak test. I hope these pictures get it by until then. I also have to finish out the drywall but I thought I would wait until the tank was done so that I can make sure it fits perfect. I also have to drill the base for overflow and install that. not sure where the edges of the stand are going to be so I am holding off on that too. I also have to figure out a stand of some sort for the office side of this build.
  21. that is what my parents say! oh wait, are you making fun of me? DOH!
