  1. I thought I was the only one! I prefer to get small frags, seriously little tiny five dollar frags and grow them myself so that I feel like I've "earned" them. Then when they are twice as big, then thrice...I get so proud.
  2. They are very nice...my tank is pretty barren as I'm just getting started so not a lot to trade. A few small softies of no consequence...and some commons, no color really. Nothing fancy...but I can shoot you a PM if you are interested in "seeing what you can see". Let me know. Yours are really gorgeous, great job!!
  3. "don't get me wrong I think that kenya tree had it coming" -OMG, I laughed out loud when I read that... That was GOLD. Yeah I know what you mean about getting attached. Can't help it. If I didn't care then I wouldn't put forth all the effort I guess. If it was just for looks and for my friends to gape over I'd pay a guy to maintain it for me. But, I love this hobby and the benefit of knowing that it's something beautiful that I helped build, like art. Poor little shrimp by the way...it's fine because he is now going to upgrade to bigger, more bad-*ss claws. So you helped him out really.
  4. Clowns are the BEST! I love 'em.
  5. Congrats! So cute! So is the Perc the one with out the black stripe on its mid section? Just for my own education.
  6. I LOVE your "Fire and Ice" set and the UNKNOWNS in Pic 5 of the first post. I hope your grow out goes well. PM me if you ever have "too many". (Is there such a thing?)
  7. This may sound REALLY silly and I have been told that I can be a bit sensitive. (Don't tell anybody that!!) Anyway, I have a purple Kenyan Tree that has been a real champ and was one of my first real corals. So this monster is getting really big and throwing my Tank-Shui off so I decided to trim him back, cut some frags and place the frags in another part of the tank to balance things out. FIRST TIME. So I cut an arm at the branch and the result tugged at my heart. The Tree seemed to "wince" and then recoil from the cut. Then it pulled itself tight and is now drooping and VERY pale. All of this occurred in about 30 seconds or so.... Now I understand/assume that these creatures don't feel pain the way we do and they are so biologically varied and different from us that it's simply my own brain applying human emotions to this creatures reaction. What interests me is how the event affected the way I FELT. It made me feel horrible, oddly greedy and strangely guilty.... Like a scientist in a lab coat prodding monkeys, or an alien probing some rancher in middle America....it just felt wrong. Has anything like this ever happened to any of you? *Disclaimer-Don't get me wrong, I'm no moralist- I'm probably still going to do it as it's a necessary application of this hobby....I just thought it was interesting that it affected me emotionally at all and thought it would be an interesting conversational topic.
  8. RBTA are my favorites! LOVE THEM!!! Good luck on yours....she's probably just taking it easy in the backyard. Sunbathing with a shrimp Margarita.
  9. Crabs and worms will get em! Like a seafood buffet. Good times.
  10. Refractometer FOR SURE. Hydrometers have been proven inaccurate and moody time and time again. With readings that vary from one reading to the next in the same test period. Hydrometers are very inexpensive and therefore very common...but with thousands of dollars on the line....spend the 50 bucks and get a decent refractometer. No question.
  11. I am also VERY interested and I imagine there is a thread somewhere here with all the info but don't know where to begin to even search.
  12. This is REALLY great...how much as far as controllers would a controller of this caliber run someone? I have a networked PC in the same room so that's ready to go. If were talking buying a box with a probe and an Ethernet connect, then this may be in the realm of possibility for me.
  13. Thank god. I thought I was the only one... I went to art school. (laugh)
  14. What's the word on this swap meet? Sounds like fun!
  15. Natural selection has to find a way....
  16. Love the Phish reference....You still getting rid of some? PM sent.
  17. Sorry man, just realized the post reads 25. SOLD!!!
  18. I'd love one too! They look great! What's the asking price on these lovelies and what area area are you in or around? I guess the most important question is....any left?
  19. Could it be a fake ad on Craigs List? Some strange people seem to get a kick out of posting these types of things. I don't know why.
  20. I will take the Carib Sea Aragonite Flamingo Reef Substrate. I've got 5 on it!
