a quick question, and im sorry to hijack your thread like this, but, how exactly do you build a diy ato? im pretty interested in setting one up, that way i can buy a large quantity of RO/DI water from one of the LFS's i visit and use it, and only have to buy once a week or every other week. thanks, and again, sorry for the hijack mick

sisk, i dont have a tank that will support anything like this at the moment, but, in a couple months, if you have one of these available, i might just take one off your hands

im not voting cause i honestly have no opinion as of yet, although i may try and get in on this once i get my new tank set up, so hopefully by the next one i can try and get in and see just where we can go with this.

that looks like a mushroom of some kind, unsure on what kind though would it be possible to get a pic of the devil's hand? ive never heard of it and am quite curious. also, how often will you have frags available? once i get my new tank setup with a light on it, i might hook up with you on some items.

well, im starting my build page, i just picked up my 30 breeder today, ill have pics up later on, it needs a good cleaning, but ive got some good stuff for that. had to drive all the way to milwaukie for it, but, got it done. next weekend, sunday hopefully if rick is amenable to that, i plan on heading over and getting it drilled and picking up the 400w light from him, then the weekend after that getting my refugium built and hopefully picking up a pump and a pair of powerheads, if anyone has a used mag 7 or something comparable to it, and a pair of koralia 2 powerheads, let me know and we'll get a price worked out. then the weekend after, ill get the stand built and hopefully get it filled with water. thats all for now thanks for all the help guys and gals here's the pics of the tank and then the build setup im looking at front view of the tank from the top and the diagram of the stand

that is a helluva nice looking 12g cube eric, i dont think ive seen one nicer anywhere on the web, at least not between here and the other 2 forums ive been on lol that 150w clip on halide really does the trick dont it?

i can promise you that you will want to upgrade eventually, probably sooner rather than later, and as for the lighting, it should be about minimum for most soft corals, such as zoas and shrooms, but, if you would like, its very easy to upgrade the lighting by taking the lid off the tank and hanging a 70w halide over the tank, if i can find the guys email, i know of someone who is selling 2 70w halides, no reflectors and needing new bulbs, for 100 bucks. just let me know if you'd be interested, and ill gladly get it to you.

eric, i live 45 minutes north of portland, its a pain just to get down there, going to hillsboro, or pretty much anywhere but rose city, seahorse, and davy jones is pretty much out of the question, there are a couple other stores that are within that same driving distance, but i dont go to them anymore, personal preference lol, and while they all have great stock, i love rose city, nick and brian are great guys and always easy to deal with, i just cant seem to find the zoas im wanting anywhere local, and, well, ive wanted to place an order with vivid since i got into this hobby, and ive finally got the gf's backing to place said order, so, said order is being placed lol. on a side note, nw, check your pms

then maybe you could answer a question for me, do you happen to know what kind of lights they have over their zoa frag tanks?

thanks man, i just figured it ridiculous the prices on the higher end zoas, and figured what the hay, buy em, grow em out, frag em up, and sell them for prices that the average joe can afford, if i break even, great, if i dont, well, my gf wont be so happy lol but im pretty sure i can at least pay to keep my tanks up and running, and thats all either of us really wants, a way to make the tanks pay for themselves, even if thats all they do lol

no worries bud, i guess your right, i probably should of put it in the classified section, i didnt though cause i wont have anything to sell til after the first of the year, i was just trying to gauge the interest of the people here on the board lol

if im buying then planning on growing to sell, why does it belong in the WTB section? by your inference, wouldnt it thus belong in the classified thread? if thats the case, will a mod please move this thread to the classified section.
