    DIY stand

im not too worried about the weight, as its going to straddle a load bearing wall, made out of 8x8's lol

    DIY stand

that looks good man, im wanting to put a floor in the bottom then put roughly an 8" lip around that, and then i plan on sealing it up with silicone or caulking it or something, so that if i spring a leak, it will stay there where i can easily vacuum it out, seeing as how im upstairs an doubt the bed below our living room, where the tank is gonna be, will appreciate getting soaked lol

    DIY stand

so you'd recommend 2x4's and just a thin 1/4" skin for the outside? can i get that in a smooth finish? something i can sand and paint? since my gf an a friend of hers are planning on doing some nice designs in the stand, something that will react to a black light im gonna put up in the area the stand is going.

    DIY stand

hey guys, ive got this idea for a stand i wanted to run by you. ive got everything mapped out, and i was wondering what size wood you guys would recommend? im thinking 4x4's for the corners, but im not positive, it may be overkill. i plan on facing it with 3/4" stain ready carpenter grade plywood, no canopy on the tank, since it is my frag/grow-out tank and ill be in it all the time. but, anyway, here's the diagram i have set up so far, feel free to make changes if you'd like. thanks
  7. you got it clay, once i get these an start em growing, you'll be first on the list, and those prices are firm, i refuse to charge what everyone else does for the higher end zoas, i figure it might take me longer to pay for my order, but, everyone deserves a shot at owning these
  8. hey guys im just trying to gauge some interest here on an order im planning on making with vivid aquariums for zoas. with me putting this frag/grow out tank build together, im hoping to start fragging by the first of the year, and im just trying to gauge some interest on zoas i plan on stocking. these are the initial frags im picking up from vivid, feel free to check them out, and i will tell you all right now that all my frags are going to vary between 10 and 20 bucks per frag, with anywhere from 3-10 polyps per frag. i dont care if ive paid 40 bucks a polyp for a zoa, i will not charge more than 5 bucks a polyp for any zoa i intend to be growing. so, without further ado, here's the list: Joker Palys Blue Armor Palys Cherry Bomb Zoas Cosmic Zoolander Palys Pink Lemonade Palys Hulk Zoanthids Green Button Polyps Real Blue and Purple Hornets-i know a guy who got them directly from the original owner Vivid Nightmare Palys-these will probably be on a second order Rainbow Palys Mohawk Palys now, this isnt the complete list, but, i just wanted to give you guys a taste of what i will be growing out let me know if you see anything in vivids polyp section, their zoas and clove polyps and what not, and ill see if i cant pick them up while im at it. thanks all either pm me or post here, makes no nevermind to me, and if this is the wrong forum, i do apologize and will gladly move it. thanks again mick
  9. Thanks rick, ill give you a headsp if my plans change all of a sudden
  10. id like to be able to get the 30 set up and running by the first of december, so i can start cycling it, but thats about it on the timeline of it
  11. i wont be picking up the tank til sunday so it'll probably be next weekend, im thinking about using the 30 breeder as a frag/grow-out tank and then grab a 40 breeder later on down the line to upgrade my DT
  12. rick, i think im going to take you up on that offer, since im gonna be getting my tank drilled by you as well LOL might as well hit 2 birds with one stone, ya know? lol
  13. ryan, check out vividaquariums, they sell plugs, by the 15 count package for i wanna say 5.99 per package, that would give you a price to base yours off of. also, when you do set up to start making them and providing them for a price, let me know, ill gladly pick some up off of you lol
  14. i really like those zoas, i wonder if he has any left?
  15. well, since im gonna get rick to drill this tank for me, and its only going to be a frag tank, i might just take a look at this light he has, im still planning on doing a 40b DT, but, i couldnt pass up the deal on this 30 breeder, and i think it will make a perfect frag tank
  16. thanks rick, ill have to hook up with you on this, im wanting to drill 2 holes in one end of the tank, not the back, since its going flush against a wall.
  17. hey guys im going to be picking up a 30 breeder this weekend, and once i figure out exactly where its going to go in the house, im gonna need to get it drilled for drain and return, if any of you guys in the vancouver area know how to do that and have the set up drop me a message and we'll see if we cant get something worked out. thanks
  18. dude your best bet is to find a private vet, or rather a private practice vet, as they will be your only option to get financing, forget going to one of the big name places like banfield or what not, cause you wont be able to get the financing there
  19. you could use it for a multi level frag tank?
  20. well, the future tank is going to be a 30 breeder, finally found one for a decent price, so 400w over a 30 breeder is just a bit too much

    Tangs

sailfin tang or chevron tang or achilles tang
  22. yeah, i dont have anywhere near that amount, but, i can spare about 5 or so pounds of either dry or live rock, i can always replace the live in my tank with the little bit of dry i have sitting around
  23. dj, if you didnt live so far away, ive got a few pieces, maybe 5lbs total, i could let ya have, but, again, your a pretty good ways away from me lol
  24. frank, if you can get your hands on one, try the wide mouth pepsi bottles, their 1 litre bottle has a mouth wide enough for a damsel to easily fit inside, and it should work perfectly for what you need
  25. frank, what size are the fish you are trying to catch? the best traps ive seen/used are just 20 oz and 2 litre coke bottles, cut the top portion off, turn it around, stick it inside the bottle, and bam, youve got your trap
