If lights dont matter while cycling my rock, I wont be in a hurry. I will have a set up scabbed together that will work by next week. A 175 halide. I really want one of the fixtures that have the halide, T-5's and moon lights with fans. But finding a good deal on a nice quality one of those seems to be like finding a needle in a haystack. And I dont want to spend a grand on lighting.

Someone should try and coordinate a game. Just remember not to shoot me.

I just bought some rock, its not live rock so I have a few questions. I am going to set up a 40breeder with a 20long for a sump. It seems like I only need about half of the 70lbs I bought. So how much of it should I put in my sump? And should I break some of it into rubble. Do you guys glue your rock together so it doesn't fall and maybe injure some of the corals either by crushing them or getting them to close to something that might sting them to death. I cut out a cardboard template for the bottom of the tank and got a configuration that I really like. So I will start my tank thread with a picture of my aquascaping within the next few days. How much live rock do I need to seed the tank? Can I just buy live rubble for the sump and use that for seeding? How long will it take for my dead rock to become live and is there anything I will need to do specifically to help the process along? How important is lighting during the 4-8 weeks that I will be running a rock only tank? See I told you guys I would have some more questions, LOL

Very cool. How often do you have to do water changes? I hear its a lot harder to keep the smaller tanks, yours looks great.

She will be doing all the work but trust me you will be spent when its all over. Try to take her mind off of the pain while she is in labor. LOTS AND LOTS of pictures and like someone else said cherrish every second they grow up faster then you can believe.

Havnt put any water in my tank yet, so I will love anything that doesnt die when I get up and running.

Yup if bought new. I would do the same. Thats one of the best reasons to have a good relationship with an LFS and or keep receipts.

To get to my point of this thread, I will be asking many many many more questions and I dont like to take without giving. Its the way Ive been raised and the way I am trying to raise my two children. So if anyone needs help doing some tank cleaning or water changes or setup or whatever I am throwing out an offer to help. The only thing I will receive in exchange is the knowledge of how to do what you ask of me. Just so we are clear, I dont have much knowledge of this hobby other then what I have been reading online and in the book concensius reef keeper or something like that. Even though ive had a reef tank 20 years ago. Things have changed and most of the info I got from my LFS at the time is either out dated or was just wrong. I have Sundays off and work until about 7 most other nights. So We will have to work around that. Sorry about the rambling, but that's how I write. Never did well in English class, but I probably didn't need to tell you that LOL. Thank you, TAD

What is the best way to clean a used tank? I bought a 40breeder that was used for fresh water. It has a very hard scum line on it. I soaked it for 5 or 6 days and its still not coming off and its starting to um um make me mad. Thank you for any input.

I am with you on this. I think a lot of schools would still be happy with there coach if he had taken the team to the elite 8 two times in the last 8 years. This year the team was young but that doesnt exuse them giving up. Heads Better watch out for the Beavers, coach has some pull now because of his brother inlaw.

It will pay ten fold for me. Worth has more value then dollars to me. But if its dollars your after I understand you get 10% off at some of the shops when you get your card for paying your dues.

I need lighting for a 40 Breeder. It will be a reef tank. I dont know exactly what I want/need for lighting. I want to be able to have and grow anything. The more I read the different forums the more I get confused. I have seen very nice T5 tanks and nice halide tanks and the mixture of both. I would like to know if any of the LFS have the different lighting set up at there stores, so I can see first hand the differences, also to decyfer what I like and dont like. Another thing is I am not sure what fixtures are the good ones and what ones are POS. Cost doesn't seem to be a tell tale sign. So what are the good ones and what are the ones I should stay away from? Running costs are not a major issue for me. Initial cost is somewhat, I mean I cant afford an LED setup. I might be able to afford LED if a DIY was reasonable. So I guess I am to the rambling point so I better stop.
