  1. Thanks! I thought you were serious
  2. I suggest you to go horizontally all the way right, to avoid the bubbles. Also you want to leave the dirty water on the sump for the skimmer to process it. The dirty water tend to stay on the top of a saltwater solution. Check out my rubbermaid plumbing. I think there is a thread named "supersump" or something like that
  3. Sorry for the fish... This picture shows us how nature "recycle"
  4. Stop adding tanks! Plumb them all together! That's the same dog that can drive a car? I need to buff my 30g, let me know when he/she is available. Novus on the tail!

I'm running one, but I wish I had 2. One can fail. Two can fail too, but you can also win the lottery the next day
  6. The pvc pipe is just for test purposes as it looks now, right?

I just saw the pics. So it is an external overflow box, not an external overflow. Do you already have an hole in it? If it is in the middle you could close that one and drill 2 on the left and right of it. Then do an herbie with backup. Something like this:

External overflows pipes will produce some noise. Internal overflows of the same kind do benefit of the surrounding water acting as a silencer. A single overflow pipe it is always risky compared to one with backup. I think that an external durso will do well and it is the most used in this kind of applications. Pics would help to be sure we are talking about the same thing Also, set up the pipe that goes to the sump so it is not straight facing down. About 45 degrees will help. Remember the inclined plane from school? Water will go faster that way
  9. I was running the skimmer air intake from outside the house, then I did the co2 test and the levels are good in the tank, even if you stay in the tank room all the day. The tank is in the basement and I don't spend much time there and the window is always a little bit open. As for air exchange my system is composed by 5 vessels, none of them has a hood or canopy of some sort. In my case it is not related to carbon dioxide
  10. Shame I wasn't there. Looks like if was a great meeting!
  11. When I am at home the ph of my tank it is in the 8.10-8.25 range, which is not bad. I was away for 4 days and the ph went up to the perfect 8.20-8.40. I'm not a fish guy, I have a few fish and I feed (starve) them with about 30ml of Elos pellets per day. During my absence the fan in the tank room was off. Every once in a while the friends that visit my tank room ask me how I can grow sps up to x inches per year and so on. This ph swing tells you how much I like to feed my corals (whistle) I always tell that I use Elos Pro Skimmer and Omega. This is true. Well part of the truth (naughty) For some time I thought that sps could grow with light only!
  12. You wanted an english based sister club. Did you change your mind after seeing Alessandro's beautiful tank?
  13. I'm running the same skimmer and I'm loving it. I'm switching to Zeo too. It is a shame that they put all those limits on aquacultured corals :( I don't know if we have the best corals on here, for sure the best marketing/naming system I'm curious about xaqua and I will try it for sure. It is second on my list after a visit to the Genova Aquarium
  14. You have to use them together for ionic balance
  15. Guys I really suggest you to use google translator and read a couple of forums in Italy. There is a lot to learn from our pizza eaters friends lol
  16. Beautiful tank Alessandro. I will be in Italy in a few days. I wish it was possible to snag some frags and put them in my case It looks like a Zeovit tank, right?
  17. Hey guys, I'm not in Portland right now so jackaninny is gonna keep the meter a few more days. We will meet beginning of the week so he will receive all he needs to manage the thing when I will be away. Thanks for understanding
  18. I'm happy I went with ATB and a pump made in Italy instead of China http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=18535480 Here is the link: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=18537797
  19. Mr Ninny has it. I forgot to update. I'm leaving for California on thurs, so the next one will have to pick up from jackaninny. He's probably gonna take care of the par meter for a few weeks, because I have to leave the country until end of April
  20. This is the "analog" version of it lol http://www.dtpetsupplies.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=9381
  21. Kim, I'll put one together for you when I come back from the old world Brad, with my water volume, if I did the math well, my salinity would go down from 1.026 to 1.025 if I pour 12.5 gallons of freshwater and I take off the same amount of saltwater. So 7 gallons aren't an issue. And it will take some time to mix up because the freshwater is a few degrees lower than the one in the tank. So it will stay in the bottom of the sump for a while. But I have to double check the math.. not sure if I did it well
  22. I like it. The color change is easy to read. The test is fast to after a couple of times that you have done it. You will like it
