  1. Day 22 Trying to convert all baby's off live food completely.
  2. Day 21 Baby's think instant baby brine shrimp is crack. I swear. They are getting big. Happy fish. Just a few more days in their tank and they can go to their filtered tank.
  3. Most my eggs always hatch. Can take 2 days to hatch all eggs.
  4. Mine hatch day 10. But it matters on the type of clowns, tank temperature as well. The closer to 80 degrees the sooner they hatch
  5. This could one was a super small clutch of eggs. I had about 50 baby's hatch. And I have 42 baby's now. My clutch before I had 150 some hatch, but I lost most when I had a rotifer crash. I made out with about 65. Looks like the eggs they have laid now have about 200 eggs. But I'm not hatching this batch, I don't have a empty tank yet. I use a 20 gallon Ada tank because it's seemless to hatch. Then about day 26, I move to grow out 10 gallons. I can do about 100 clowns in a 10 gallon. But I only have 1 Ada. I pull eggs out before they hatch. The day they are to hatch I pull them rock and all. If you don't mom and dad will eat the baby's before you can nicely pull them or see them. They have to be raised In a blacked out tank. Most people use 10 gallon with 5 gallons of water in it. Or I use 20 gallon with 7 gallons of water. Some people use a 5 gallon bucket with 4 gallons of water
  6. Day 20 Almost ready for grow out tank. They are eating and growing like crazy.. Cool thing about my clowns is they are use to me all the time in their tanks that they are non aggressive clowns
  7. Day 17 There baby's are really starting to hang together. They think they are in a corner hiding, but it's just my taped walls are black. When they go into their grow out tank they will hose in one corner. I started the cycling of the grow out tank last week for them. Hope I won't have a issue like last time where cycling bacteria shocked baby's. It's called toxic tank syndrome. Happened On day 30 and I lost alot of them. Had to move remaining baby's to new tank instantly. No acclimating. Which you don't acclimate baby's in general. It actually does them more harm acclimating them at that stage. Grow out tank has a snail, and some live rock, Heater and sponge filter.
  8. Day 16 Most are eating flakes and instant baby brine shrimp. It's cold here right now so heater dropped temperature down to 79.2 degrees from 80. But still acceptable. Looking from above most clowns have first stripe. Though not all can you see from the side yet .
  9. Day 15 Not too much going on with the clown fish today I did another water change. I'm on day 15. I was in the emergency room again tonight so not much got done. I fed them flakes, instant baby brine shrimp and that's about it today. They would have liked to have had life Brine but I wasn't feeling good. because my babies are in the garage the temperature did drop down in the tank today to 79 degrees from 80. but not a big enough difference for a long enough period of time to make a difference. I'll just adjust the heater accordingly for winter. I did manage my pictures however.
  10. Day 14 Look at the pretty baby's. Going strong.
  11. Day 13 All is well. Still going through metamorphosis. Some eating baby brine shrimp, some instant baby brine shrimp, others flakes and a few still rottifers
  12. You can transport fish on airplane via Cary on in clear container
  13. Day 12 Our electricity went out today. I'm so glad I had my battery operated air pumps. And so thank full it's not freezing yet this year or my baby's would have died. Baby's still eating baby brine shrimp, rotifers and flakes. Did a small water change. All is well going through metamorphosis. No deaths in 5 days. Stripes on heads are showing.
  14. Day 11 I'm out of the hospital. Baby's are doing fine. today from the top of the tank you can see first white stripes. Baby's no longer all look like little peanuts. Some look like a clown body. Smooth tummy's now. They are eating multiple foods. Why you ask. It's because every baby readily takes different foods. The end result I want them all on flakes, and a instant food. Starting in the morning with nano size flakes. Then later I feed live baby brine shrimp and live rottifers. Later I will sneak instant baby brine shrimp. A food for every stage in life. There are always stragglers in life. I did a water change today. Very small. I don't won't to stress changing baby's. Temperature running 79.5 degrees. 0 ppm ammonia. pH 7.8 Here's some pictures. In one if you look at water reflection you can see top of head where white stripe is forming.
  15. we had that happen once the exploding heater and electrocuted everything the only thing that made it other than a couple of corals was the watchman goby who lived in the sand. we came home and the tank was cloudy. It was devastating I think we ended up starting the entire tank over again
  16. Sorry was in hospital. For day 10 update so here it is now Day 10 Baby's starting to metamorphosis. Which means they change colors in my case percularis just like percula mom turn black, then they get round body's. Looking more like a clown. Yes orange clowns turns black for the change. Where as ocellaris would turn orange at this time.
  17. Day 9 Feed baby brine, rottifers and flakes. Did large water change. There was a ammonia spike. They are getting darker pigment so they can metamorphosis
  18. Lost more last night. Think it's toxic tank syndrome. Moved all baby's to top tank with batch 1
  19. Sad day today Day 36 I've lost 4 baby's. I did water change yesterday and I think I may have freight killed 2 of them. (Which happens when feeding brine shrimp) and a few were stunned. Today the stunned weren't swimming laying on sides. Tummy's indented. Think they shocked and stopped eating. However on the previous batch about same date I had 2 deaths similar. Possible something big is adjusting in their body's like a second stripe stressing them out and they die. Or my other theory is because their tanks were both new and they are cycling still with a lot of fish. I tested water 0 ppm ammonia but I did have .25 ppm nitrate. Couldn't test nitrite cause I'm out of that test, but pH 8.0. So possible it's the cycle. I have only two grow out tanks so if that's the reason next batch won't have issue because their tank will be cycled. Other clowns in tank fine. No sign of parisites or infection But did microscope one of the baby's if you want to see.
  20. day 8 Baby's eating baby brine shrimp and rotifers, and flakes. Noticed rotifers don't like the heat raise . They die in tank instead of reproduce. Thinking I may lower temp back down a degree. However baby's will metamorphosis quicker the warmer the temperature. But here are the daily pics. It's hard to see their growth but the pink tummy's bulge out at this stage. They look like peanuts from the top of the aquarium. One bulge is the head, next is the tummy, then they have a tail. I look forward to this stage. They are fattening up for the change. And I know they are eating enough.
  21. This is what my eldest look like now batch 1. As you can see they seem to all miss bar in middle. Like a saddle back. Thinking since all baby's doing this it's genetic.
  22. Day 7 Eating brine. Upped my tank temperature to 80.2. seeing if I can get them through metamorphosis sooner.
