  1. Algaes in! Smann, will you send me your info? Thanks
  2. Only one other person interested so far? Does anyone have any questions about the BRS group buys?
  3. I do not like the Sailfert kits. I have gotten very inconsistent results with them. Once kit told me I was at 440 (where I normally keep my CA), and the next told me I was at 600+!!! I now use Elos, and have had very consistent results!
  4. Im gauging interest in a PNWMAS bulkreefsupply.com group buy. Im starting this early to make sure anyone who wants to participate has plenty of time to get their money together and decide what they want. I plan to submit the group buy request on 12/29 (1 week prior to the start of the group buy). The group buy will run from Tuesday 01/05 through Monday 01/11. Heres what I need from anyone interested: -Create a bulkreefsupply account (if you dont already have one)* -Provide me with your first & last name (as listed on your BRS account) -Provide me with your e-mail address (as listed on your BRS account) *keep in mind that BRS upgraded their website and payment system about 2 months ago, so if you have not created a new account, you will need to do so prior to the group buy. For those who have not participated in a BRS group buy, here are the details (directly from the BRS web site): The last group buy I participated in (on reef2reef), I saved over $40 on a $200 order, so it is well worth it! We will need at least 10 participants to qualify for the group buy: 1. Ryan 2. madmike 3. Algae 4. Smann 5. reef165 6. Jason7504 7. Wanareef 8. epicenter 9. coralreefer 10. Danik 11. mytshall 12. faithkjy 13. Vanz
  5. Nearly brand new, nearly completely full. $75 REGULATOR NOT INCLUDED
  6. Could it be a purple tri-color then?
  7. Nice pick, by the way! I seem to miss the purple plasma every time a LFS has one in stock...
  8. Looks like a very light purple plasma with very little polyp extension. You should be able to look forward to this!
  9. My initial plan was to use vodka/mb7/reefbooster, but it seems like more people are having trouble with it than who are not. There are only a few tanks that I know of that I have seen that are truly spectacular on the vodka/mb7. Zeo seems like a much more complete, researched, and understood process. I feel I would be successful with either route, but it seems like almost every day I see a post on RC about mb7 not working out for them.
  10. I forgot about McMenamins! I love their rubynator!
  11. I would recommend investing in some nice Elos kits! Get Cal, Alk, & Mag. I HIGHLY recommend you master maintaining the above 3 parameters before you even consider starting ZEO. Here is a pretty good idea of what a typical ZEO reactor looks like: Its pretty simple, water enters the bottom of the reactor, then raises to the top (through the ZEOlithe), then exits the top back into the sump. The "T" handle on top is used to pump up and down to shake up the ZEOlithe once or twice per day (about 15 pumps). ZEO reactors do not require a lot of flow (less then 100gph). Most are supplied by a small pump. Im not a big fan of lots of small pumps in my system, so Im going to run my reactor off of my main pump through a manifold. Let me know if you have any other questions!
  12. Deschutes Twilight, but any Deshutes will do! I also like Widmir Broken Halo.
  13. Total in parts was about $30, but I had most of the white acrylic laying around...What else do you want to know about the reactor? ZEOvit is not for the "casual reefer". It takes a lot of research and understanding before it should be started. You also need to be VERY comfortable with test kits, and be able to maintain CAL/ALK/MAG as solid as a rock.
  14. I cut all of the parts for my ZEOvit reactor today: Im using a piece of 16"x4" Cell Cast tubbing. I will use Schedule 80 fittings for the plumbing on it and also for the "plunger". I also cut these parts for another DIY project, can anyone guess what Im making? (for size reference, those are 3/4 unions and the larger tube on the left is 2: O.D.)

    Need Hole saw

I have one you could use, but Im in Portland....Talk to Garrett, Im pretty sure he has one in Salem.

    Zeovit

A separate ZeoVit category would be great! Im not running it now, but am 90% sure Im going to run it on my new tank.
  17. Replace those lights with some nice T5's and you got a pretty nice setup! I would be really interested to see the equipment underneath, especially the skimmer. From what I have read, the cold water setups need a really good skimmer, so if it looked to be insufficient, I would upgrade it before you get it running!
  18. Well...I finished all of the seams on the sump. I am pleased with how it turned out. The seams look pretty good overall (not Envision seams of coarse), and its pretty square considering I built it on a kitchen table! I used wooden dowels cut to the appropriate length to ensure all of the panels were square: Getting ready to cement the first seam on the back panel: The center baffle was a bit tricky. I ended up modifying one of my hypodermic needles to get the job done. I bough a piece of 1/16"x0.14" aluminum tubing from the hobby shop, then replaced the existing hypo needle with it to reach in between the baffles. I used a small torch to heat the end of the new tubbing up, then heated the plastic tip of the bottle up a bit and pressed the tubing through. It worked like a charm! 1" pieces of wooden dowel in between the baffles to ensure the spacing is right: Front, back, sides, & saffles all cemented together: The front, back, sides, & baffles sitting on the the base piece with pins: I couldn't resist pulling the backing off of the front to take a peek: With the skimmer (believe it or not, the skimmer is quite large, but so is the sump!) I still have to route the edges flush, and bevel all of the edges, but overall It turned out really nice. Im glad I took on this sump project to gain experience with thicker material. I'll will have no hesitation now building sumps, frag tanks, etc...I'll leave the displays to James though!!!
  19. I still have 5...I didn't get a chance to snap a shot before my halides turned off, so I didn't try to make it look good or anything...lol
  20. The top 3 pics are amazing! Nice stuff!
  21. There is no reason for you to raise it up to 10 dKH! I have had the best success with 8 dKH. What are you using to raise your alkalinity? How do you plan on keeping it there once you raise it up? Is your Cal/Mag in check? I would raise it up .5 dKH per day...
