    Engineer Goby

I have two Engineer Gobies and for the last 2 years they have grown and done wonderful. They both stay hidden in the rocks unless its feeding time. Last night the smaller of the two was swimming around. This is very abnormal so I have observed the fish for the last 24 hours. When the smaller goby tries to enter the rocks the lager one nips at him / her. Does anyone know what might cause this behavior. Thanks for any suggestions you might have.
  2. Welcome to the club Please share some pics this croud loves pictures (enforcer)
  3. Another good place to find info out on is ReefCentral

  7. Anyone out there have any input? (whistle)
  8. Good day all, I have a few questions regarding a Peacock Mantis. 1. What is the optimal tank size? I know many say 10 gallon will do but is this really enough room for one to move around in? 2. How deep should the sand bed be? 3. Acrylic or glass? I have read so many saying glass will be fine and I have read so many that say DONT do it. What are your experiences? 4 Lastly, does anyone know of any good books or publications about these animals and their habitat? Thanks in advance for your input
  9. bswe22, What boundaries are you looking to stay in and what price point per month. I know several people that have rental properties I can check with them to see what they might have available. If you want just PM me and I can get back to you in the next few days.

    wind power

Danik I would agree for the most part. Reef165 stated that he lives just outside of Troutdale. Living on that side of town for many years myself the one thing you can always count is the cold wind. Troutdale and the surrounding towns seem to always get hit with high winds due to the Columbia Gorge being right there. I personally think that this would be a great idea for someone on that side of town however being on the Westside now I agree with you. Winds are not steady enough to justify setting something like this up at least not wind energy. If nothing else becomes of this theory at lease we have the reefing community thinking outside the box to support our ever demanding power needs. Also if you end up going forward with this project please start a build thread I am most interested.
  12. Thanks for sharing this wonderful idea. I was just about ready to order glass tops then I saw this. I like this method much better.
  13. I like the T5 HO bulbs much better then the CF and VHO bulbs.
  14. I agree totally. However I'm sure that an event like this will prompt changes in the current laws. I just hope that the changes are well thought out, and violators will be prosecuted to the fullest. I apologize if I’m coming across strong or in the wrong way. It just horrifies me to see so many dead fish.
  15. (censored)(censored)(censored)(censored)(censored) I really hope the person(s) get caught and are prosecuted to the fullest. I am however glad that the authorities where notified and actions are being taken. It’s just sad that all those fished died like this, and for what.
  16. Not to high jack this thread but I am in the market for a refractometer as well. What should I be looking for? I have been reluctant to purchase one due to not knowing enough about them.
  17. I do believe that Impur said around 93 gallons.
  18. +1. Ours RBTA only hid for a week or so then we saw him in the back of the tank. He was there for a few more days and at some point we woke up and there he/she was up front again stinging everything it could.
  19. +1 Rods does the trick for my brain

    lights

DE bulbs have better PAR value the comparable SE bulbs.
  21. Welcome, It might not be all that bad. The RBTA might have just moved and hid for a few days. If you disturb them or change their water-flow they tend to move or hide. I have done the same and ended up with 2+ RBTA after changing a water-flow. As for the wife I cant help you there, but I wish you the best of luck (wife)
  22. Wow is about all I can say at this point.
  23. wow great list. anyone else have anything to add?
