1. Check out the specs On marine depot or neptunes website I think you can hook up more equip in like the additional modules for wet floor sensor, etc. I remember reading some of the add ons and they say "aqua 3 and pro" but im not sure. You may want to add modules in the future
2. I bought the Aqua controller III in Feb, so far everything has worked very well and have added to it (as $ permits). I got the III because or the ethernet hookup and the expandability of the unit, also have the software program. I have a dyn.dns address and can moniter, access and modify the programs via the internet when traveling also has the email alarm if things go south. The support has been very good from Neptune and you can find most info quickly on RC Be Prepared! Your tank may not be as perfect as you think mine certainly was NOT I am now the proud owner of 2 PH probes and a Hanna ph meter as I could not believe the PH readings I was getting when I hooked up the controller
3. I have a few pieces, some acro, small birds nest, couple of others I'll post some pics before the meeting would lioke to trade for some xenia Right now I'm enjoying my fathers day gift, my wife got me the lunar lights (5) and the module for the aqua controller, pretty awsome shimmer just like MH

Very nice tank, welcome. I had the same question I would like to frag my monti, how did you start it on the back wall?
5. I used aragonite sand first few years it disolves fast, but you will have to dump the chamber about every six months as the fine particles collect at the bottom and clog the chamber. I switched to Caribsea ARM the first of this year and it seems to work well
6. POTM The first one I call "stuck again" Finger Leather
7. i have some sps to trade i'll put up a pic later (have to switch comps)
8. tank sure looks good, cant help with the fish but is that a large mushroom in the center next to the clam?
9. free frags are gone for now, slimer is gone also, PM if anyone is intrested in the others

It is not attached to a rock will sell these for 15$ each, only name i have found is Green Jewell, also the mother coral to see what it looks like(not for sale)
11. nice pictures of the fish, were you diving or snorkeling, what area on the big island do you like to go? how do you post the pictures in the body of text instead of attachments thanks
12. yes i think its the tank outside that you can walk down and see into the tank and then also walk up above and look down in. they also have the very large tank at the end with the tunnel, it is full of sharks, rays and several of the other large local fish like skipjack tuna and many others. we sat at a side window on a bench for about 30 mins just watching that tank before leaving
13. My wife and I recently returned from the islands, my parents live in Kona so we go a couple times a year. The flight stops over in maui so this time we decided to stay a few days. The first thing that caught my eye was the aquarium, I have been to Newport and Monterey but this was the ultimate reef aquarium. From the time we entered and went to each display my wife kept commenting “I remember when we had that fish” or didn’t we have this coral once? I finally had to say that’s enough( that first year was hard on livestock). The displays were stocked with all the fish and inverts we are familiar with, hermits, lobsters, stars, crab, all the reef fish, anemones just about everything available at the LFS of course they were a lot larger. They had schools of solider fish from the small up to 12”. There wasn’t a lot of variety of coral as its not native to the islands but they did have a lot of montipora and smaller stony coral, soft corals, but the live rock was impressive in each tank. In the learning area they had a frag tank and you could see the lights and equipment, similar to my frag shelves except theirs were probably 300 gallons! Although it was a little pricy I would definitely recommend it if you get over there, the most impressive part…. Thousands of gallons of fresh reef water in and out every day, just think no more water quality problems!!
14. trying to clean up the cords and make room for a larger sump behind my tank so i made a rack for my ballast, i used 1"x1" x 1/16" steel I had left over from a project at work. The finished project with the glass back in and blinds back down (so the neighbors can sleep at night) Next to the bay is my "homemade auto topoff" pretty simple, 40 gal rubbermade can, the ro/di unit is hooked to a battery sprinkler timer from home depot and can come on daily to maintain the water level in the can or every 2 days and the level will slowly go down. there is a powerhead inside hooked to a timer that comes on every 4 hrs for 1 click (15-20 mins) that goes to the float valve in the sump Its getting to crowded in the base of my tank, after I move the chiller to the side of the bay i'll have room for a 18"x 40" sump/refugium, i'm going to keep the pumps, skimmer, reactor in the base and plumb back the the sump. wish I had more room, I liked the post with the shed on the side of the house, that will be next! will be looking for some help on the sump design any pictures would be great
15. I agree with SquidHC, i've had algea problems and went the cleaner crew route, it didnt work they just slowly die off . i only keep a small amount of snails and hermits for looks. Uasually its water quality, maybe lighting but a clean tank with good water flow and turnover should only have enough algea thats taken care of with weekly surface cleaning and vacumning during water changes

Skimmer pics!!

euro 135 Thanks Algae When I got it home I realized it was European PVC (euro-duh!) I couldn’t find any close by so I took a reducer 1”1/2 – 1” and sanded it down then layered it with Teflon and glue until it fit then again on the outside, figured it wasn’t under pressure so it was fine, didn’t leak. It’s outside the sump so that is the return with a riser for vent. I ran the overflow into a liter bottle until it overflowed the 2nd night I had it. I now drain into an overflow box hanging in the sump, I keep it pretty clean and check often so I don’t worry about it overflowing back into the tank (better than the carpet) I only get about ½ cup a week , I keep the top of the bubbles 2” up in the top neck, I’ve tried reducing the flow in but still not much.
18. Looks great, i just picked up the same long spined urchin, they're really fun to watch
19. I had one outside my tank and cabinet running to my chiller. it was a submersible pump however it had stainless screws on the housing so it could not be used in the sump. I disassembled it before use to be sure it was all plastic, it was also a bit louder than an aquarium pump. You might also check to see if it produces heat, aquarium pumps are designed to be safe for saltwater, extremly quiet and give off little or no heat.
20. Yes I have a few bubble tip they dont seem to be bothered, if it drifts near them it may irratate and they will close up for a while but thats it. it works best when its new after the 3rd or 4th time it may begin to dry up and can clog the app but its cheap. it doesnt bother any coral
21. Ive been using Joes Juice for the aptasia works good no harm to the tank, apply extremly small amounts just to the top and it wont float to your good anenomes. for hard to reach i put a piece airline tubing inside a straw and attach to the tip

Skimmer pics!!

just cleaned the top sunday Euro RS135 pretty good skimmer try to clean the top once a week also have to run a cup of warm water thru the air intake seems to build up a little salt and decrease performance
23. I'll give that a try, my camera has several WB choices I took one picture with each and was surprised that the daylight/sunlight setting was the best
24. I was reading the post on controllers I am looking into buying one is anyone using ozone? I bought a Ozone generator a few months ago but when I got it home the instructions were very unclear about how to set up or monitor it, also there were more warnings than instructions, so I parked it on a shelf I see the controllers can regulate the input by monitoring the ORP Even with regular water changes and keeping my lights current I still get algea on my sand bed, I have increased my circulation that seemed to help, its only on the areas exposed to light under coral shade and back in the rock caves the sand is clean. I was wondering if ozone might help
25. My Dad made it he was in to stained glass, now he is doing stepping stones with the glass on the face
