  1. Any of the welding stores will refill or exchange tanks, NW Airgas may be up there or Quimby welding supply. Also beer or brewing equip stores
  2. What have you done as far a changes to your tank since the outbreak, the main things would be lighting, good water flow and maintenance, keeping filters clean and reducing nutrients thru regular water changes. keep in mind that snails, hermits, fish will only eat whats natural food for them, green hair algae is not one of them at least not the kind that grows in dead water areas in a reef tank. I still had that algea on top of powerheads, and in a dead area without waterflow, I recently added a refugium (for other reasons) with macro algae and most of it is gone the powerheads are clean. I have a few hermits, they are fun to watch but I would look at your tank and equip as the source and the solution to any algea problems
  3. I have 2 still in the box, decided not to use them if you want to buy one at a discount
  4. What type of hair algae are we talking about, tiny hairs on the rock? or dark green 2-3" "taking over" the tank, ripping put by the handfull, had to tear down the tank and move it algae, I can offer advice on the latter. normal reef algae growth can be handled by a few hermits, some urchins, tangs to keep the rock clean anything beyond that is a maintenace or nutrient problem. Snails only eat diatoms and to many in a tank will slowly die until a balance of available food is reached, I keep 9 atrea snails in my 180gal.
  5. let me know if you still have it, have some sps to trade
  6. I better take care of him!....who knows ,maybe I'll be in the snail business soon
  7. Exactly why I stopped buying bulbs online, XM 400w 15K- $75.00 Marine Depot, $85.00 LFS not worth the hassle "if" something goes wrong
  8. This is the second one I have found, recently added some live rock must have hitched a ride. Good or Bad?
  9. Big Thanks to Frank and his wife for hosting the meeting in their home(clap), Tank was awsome(rock2) (tv was pretty nice to!)met some new folks and brought home some new corals Thanks Again!!(clap)
  10. Stu I'll bring some of the zoas you gave me everyone else I'll bring several frags if interested
  11. Do you have more or have you fraged the green toadstool I'd like a piece if someone does. Also looking for some montipora I have orange would like a different color
  12. did you check the tank with a color test kit, if you want to borrow my Hanna Ph meter you are welcome to.I would wait and make sure you are getting an accurate reading before taking any action. the only thing I can think of is a continuos dose of kalk, high PH is alot harder to fix then low PH. I did alot of research after I found out my tank had low PH (7.9-7.5 at nite). how does everything look?
  13. Anything would be fine, down low would be better you've seen my tank I dont have much room up high
  14. Kris how do you frag your devils hand?, I've heard a rubberband thru the middle or have you cut it. I have one thats getting big again, it split itself onto two different rocks and I removed the large piece, i do know its sensitive if its disturbed it will shrink up for days If I can make it I can bring some frags, have some hydno, frogspawn, orange montipora digi a few other small frags
  15. I think I see it, is it below and a littel left of the rose and clowns and your right spectra a few beers helps
  16. I dont hink I can get a picture of my overflow, its inside, back wall of the tank with the hood on you cant see down in even from the back. I do have to move the hood forward and have my son reach down in(my arm wont fit) to remove the old stand pipe thats only about 6" tall. but I will try
  17. Yes Yes, been in the garage working on the plumbing parts for the durso!. actually built a "overflow simulator" and tried all the methods, settled on the durso for my paticular situation. Will install tomorrow and let you know:)

Welcome ,glad you decided to join in. there are lots of pictures on member tanks and some in galleries. Post some pics of your tank, if you have trouble just ask and folks will help (had a hard time with the pics myself)
  19. Lot of good info, Thanks to all(rock2). I do have limited room and access so I will look at the Durso or version of. I have my new sump in place along with the refugium behind the tank, testing it with a pump and fresh water now(only one small leak) so when I get ready to tap it all into the system i will work on the overflow This is what its all about(clap)
  20. found one on the internet(as always) Here it is if anyone else is interested http://www.geocities.com/stylatin/r_dursos_overflow.htm Thanks again!!
  21. never heard of it, but thanks i'll give it a try. Does it matter how high or low I put it in the overflow thanks again Kris
  22. My overflow is the loudest part of my tank. Its inside the tank, center about 4"x5" and runs from top to bottom, it also has a return line back up. I have a 1" piece of pvc about 5" with holes drilled comming up, I cannot reach all the way down to put a foam filter on the pipe (or remove to clean) Any ideas? (scratch)
  23. I've got 4 7gal buckets and a heater you can use if you need them, also some extra maxi's
  24. I agree, I came across them when we moved our business down to N portland and have gotten good advice and solutions from Woody. Personally I liked the garage!!
