  1. Look at DAS. They are supposed to be very good and are a lot cheaper than ER and higher quality than ASM. I have not used one, but if I had to replace my PM, thats what I would go with.
  2. Dibbs on: - 72g bowfront tank and stand(Reef-Ready)(black)(Sound-proofed)($150) - Glass Cover(Goes with tank) - Built In Overflow with durso standpipe(Silent overflow, no noise!) - NO lighting strip(Goes with tank) dstoneburg, you have PM....
  3. For Nori, there is an Asian supermarket in Beaverton, off Beav-Hills Hwy. Its called Iwajimaya, I think, or at least something very similar, about a 1/2 mile East of 217. They sell all sorts of Nori, roasted and non in huge packs for very cheap. I think my last buy was 100 sheets for around 5.99. Also, good source for live seafood. I always buy a couple of live clams when I am there to let my puffer work on.
  4. Have you looked into/priced having a custom tank made that would go around the beam? You would have to remove and replace it and do so again when you move, but it would be pretty cool to have a tank that is notched so that it goes behind the beam. I bet James would have no trouble making it also.
  5. For one of my businesses, I was always buying concrete and related products, so I have wholesale accounts at some concrete supply companies. I will call around and see who has the stuff and report back what I find - I think that someone in the area must sell it and I do know that many of the "wholesale to the trade" operations of that nature really don't care if non-business owners buy from them. Masons supply is one of the better ones and they will sell to anyone IME
  6. Thanks, Kevin - I need hundreds of pounds, not sure exactly how much, but probably 100-150 or so - enough to make a 6 inch bed in a 4 x 2 tank MisterCrabs - isnt Advanced in Salem? If so, I think they are still there, anyone else know?
  7. Whoops, wrong forum...mods, can you move to WTB/Trade? Thanks
  8. I have read on RC that you can use playground sand for a DSB, but have heard that it has to be a certain brand. Does anyone know if a local HD carries the stuff, and what is the brand name I should look for? If not at HD, then where can I get some locally? Thanks.
  9. Wondering if anyone has an RO/DI that they might be interested in letting go....need to upgrade. Thanks
  10. Actually, thank you Kevin - Much too kind!
  11. Thanks Garrett. I think its a great deal for someone who needs a smaller sump!
  12. Nice, great condition sump. Measures 30 x 10 x 10. Has three chambers as shown. 1st chamber is 6.5 inches wide 2nd chamber is 13.5 inches wide 3rd chamber is 10 inches wide No leaks and minimal scrathing. Has spot for sponge filter. Three holes drilled in input area for multiple inputs. Looking to get $100 out of it Thanks
  13. I will agree with all that was said. It does use a big pump, and does put a ton of bubbles into the sump. Noisy too. I have mine in a large dedicated sump in a fish room though, so I don't notice it. And the skimming is awesome so I love it. FWIW.
  14. Diddo. I run a bullet 2 and love it....maybe you have not dialed yours in fully?? It does take some time to get it just right. Which bullet is it and what pump are you running?
  15. Not sure if we are talking about the remora or the EC from Aqua-C, but heres my opinion. I had a Remora and it barely did anything other than move some water around. Would fill the cup every two weeks or so. I tried upgrading the pump to a Rio 2100 (692 gph vs. 295 for the MJ). It was a bit better, but still not skimming well. I then scrapped it and hooked up a PM Bullet 2. Man that thing rocks. Fills my ext. waste collector every day or two. I have a 10" puffer, a blue hippo and two damsals. It pulls out dark coffee/tea colored skimmate. Before getting the beckett, I was starting to grow a HA farm, and in the few months since, with little else changed, the HA has begun to recede ALOT. In short, I am scared off of Aqua-C and would recommend a beckett to anyone. Becketts are not plug and play, but once dialed in they are awesome.
  16. I used one to do my first hole drilling a bit back. I wanted to make sure I had the technique down, so I sacrificed an old tank and started making holes. I think that by the time I go to about 8-10 holes, it was noticeably slower. I would say about 12 holes tops. Mine was a cheapy from lau on ebay too.
  17. I have heard that many people have used Killz from HD or lowes for the inside. Its pure white and will help to stave off any mold/mildew, etc. I have not used it, but will when I begin my 150 build in a month or two.
