  1. Hey Matt, its Neil. I tried Pm'ing him too, the first day this thread was up. No response. He has not posted since he posted his offering. I think he's MIA.
  2. I also scouted out 3reef last night. Seems like it has more members than some others.. Have not been to reeffrontiers yet.
  3. I am wondering about what other sites you guys visit on a regular basis. I have always just visited this site and Reef Central, although the banning spree that went on in April/May of this year leaves a bad taste in my mouth. So many knowledgeable and helpful people were banned over pretty much nothing. Its happened in the past too, BeanAnimal has been banned several times. Hahnmeister is no more, grimreefer was banned and allowed back and on and on it goes. So, what are some of the other sites that are worth a visit?
  4. I didn't think the Dragnet one would be so easy. Nice!
  5. PM'ed you. Interested in some tanks if you decide to part out.
  6. Does it come with a stand? Is it the oceanic stand? Have you done any of the popular mods?
  7. Just to make it an even 10 for you guys to play with: "Ohh no, we've gone plaid!"
  8. "I don't know, but I've been told, Eskimo p**** is mighty cold...."
  9. If you get this...you get a gold star for the day. "You're gonna come by later tonight, right?" "I have to, I'm wearing your underwear."
  10. OK, can't beleive this hasn't been brought up yet: "How would you know, bubblehead?" "I kill a communist for fun, but for a green card, I gonna carve him up real nice." And the one that will give it away: "Say hello to my little friend!"
  11. "Your head has a thin candy shell on it....Richard"
  12. "shampoo is better cause I go on first and clean the hair. Conditioner is better cause I make the hair silky and smooth. Ohh, really fool? Really?"
  13. "I uhhh, glued myself to uhhh, myself"
  14. "crikey, did you soil yourself?" "hu, maaybe"
  15. "It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again"
  16. "Say bi*** be cool! Say bi*** be cool! Tell that f***in bi*** to chill! Sorry had to...one of the best lines from that movie....along with: "I'm a mushroom cloud laying motherf'er, motherf'er!"
  17. My guess is it does something roughly equivalent to cooking rocks to kill nuisance algae. Do they advocate doing large volume water changes as well?
  18. I used to take the ones I thought were 'too many' and move them to the sump. Living amonst my rubble and chaeto in there the population exploded. My pods did too. My son used to like watching the sump almost as much as the tank itself.
  19. Why is everyone trying to get rid of them? They are good to have in your system. They eat detritus and provide a natural food source for many fish. If anything, put them in your sump if you don't like the way they look, but to me it just ads to the diversity of life in my tank.
  20. Thanks! I think that is where it starts to get a bit too spendy for me. I wanted to downsize in part to cut costs, but also to make my life a bit easier in terms of upkeep etc. At $800 for just glass, its a tough proposition for me. James quoted me 650-700, with Euro bracing, which is more than I was hoping for, but not crazy and the thought of having exactly what I want professionally made is attractive.
  21. I will definitely contact him. I was reading on the forum that another member was quoted $900 for basically the same tank, so I thought I would get this out there first. But for a local business and such a good guy - I fully planned to give him a shot at quoting, just figured it was an uphill path. Thanks, Neil
  22. I forgot to add. I would be tempted to try making it myself from glass, if I could find the glass for cheap enough. Where locally is a good place for plain glass? What about Starphire? Thanks!
  23. So, I would like my next tank to be a cube. 30 x 30 x 24. If I can have it custom made, I would actually like 29 x 30 x 24. Do you guys know a place locally that can make that tank without it costing a huge amount? Of course there is Envision, but I think it might be a bit too much $ based on what I have seen him quote others. Darn nice though. I can get a MarineLand for about $450 and would like to stay close to that. Waves is gone, but is Joel still making tanks? Any other local shops that might be able to do this? Both acrylic and glass have their + and - so I am not overly partial to either one. For equal dollar amounts, I would probably choose acrylic. Unless, of course I could do three Starphire panels, but I doubt that fits into my budget. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
