  1. You want a coldwater cube? Talk about different
  2. Tank and inhabitants have a new owner, enjoy Matt Hope to see you more on the forums, and post up some pics when you get the tank rolling
  3. Just in case anyone is interested in having an immeditate setup, you can have the cycled water that is in it as well as a pretty good selection of livestock to get going. Hermits, snails, sculpins, I even have some seagrass you can have with it. Keep in mind your buying the tank, and I'm GIVING you your selection of livestock, not selling you any livestock.
  4. OK, so this throws another nice twist into my plans for a custom built acrylic coldwater tank. The guy I bought my 110 Marineland tank from is a commercial recycler and just called me to see if I was interested in another one. I told him depending on price and condition that it was in I would be interested, and if not me I know a few people who might be I'm not really sure what I'll do with it other than set it up right next to my other one and use them both as display sumps in the garage for the indoor tank, but hell that'd be cool too B) If I buy this it'll stall the custom build by a few months, but in the end I think it will be much better having 220 gallons of sump, with 2x3/4 horse chillers 2xUV filters, 2xskimmers, 2x mechanical filtration on my system. What do you guys think?
  5. Had some interested people but haven't heard back for sure, so as it is right now this is still available.
  6. Cool sounds good, give me a ring on my cell aroun 6:20ish I should be home by 6:30 at the latest.
  7. Hopefully Aliotti has done something to minimize Fairleys impact on the game besides trying to double team him. Something like " Hey you, 4th string whats your name......go in there and start a fight with Fairley and get his @ss ejected or break his knee" (laugh) Sometimes you gotta play on their level (enforcer) Serioulsy though Nick Fairley is the dirtiest player I have ever seen.
  8. Anyone who is interested in picking through the frags and such give me a ring, I will be available tonight after 6:30 and tomorrow night after 5:30. Still have a Perc, a Geometric pygmy hawk, a pistol shrimp, cucumber and clean up crew, make me an offer on stuff or DigitalD gets it for a screaming deal when he picks up the tank on wednesday
  9. I had a couple ideas for lighting. First off I used some waterproof LED strips and wired them up around the inside edge of the black plastic insert piece. That worked awesome..........at first.........turned out they were not quite so "waterproof" as they claimed to be. If I was going to do that style lighting again, I would buy the LED tubes that are designed to go in the water, and just mount them in the same place under the insert. You could always run it open top with a suspended light. When I was planning to set it up inside I was going to mount recessed lighting in the ceiling above the tank, or do a small hanging led spot light. I've been playing around with some waterproof LED spotlights. The only reason you would need light in a coldwater tank is for your own viewing, since most of the animals you'd want to keep are non photo synthetic.
  10. Collect your own on the coast, get it from other coldwater people, live seafood markets, or from scientific supply companys. I've done all of the above, the only thing I haven't done is go diving for my own stuff. This tank was going to go inside my house and be plumbed into the larger system through the wall since it is a manageable size to get in the door. I was designing the additional mods to make it a good tank to keep Catalina gobies in along with other small coldwater animals that would either get lost or eaten in my larger tank.
  11. Trying to fund another idea for my coldwater setups and am looking to sell my coldwater cube tank for $250. The tank is 27"x27"x 47" over all height. The viewable glass about 13" tall. This is a dual paned glass tank, so no sweating. Has built in chiller. Comes with little giant pump for closed loop or filter. Lots of options and potential for this tank, I was going to add a coast to coast overflow and a durso to it but my plans have changed......again...... Anyways if your interested and want to come take a look, shoot me a PM or post in here. Here's some pics
  12. LOL, I wish. (laugh) 5 guys blows up most any fast food joint around here, but I'm sure most people can still bbq up a burger that puts em to shame. All it takes is a quick google search and basic bbq skills. Try googling " Best Burger Recipe " and see how anyone of those does against 5 guys or In and Out.
  13. I went to 5 Guys today on my lunch, got a Bacon Cheeseburger with everything, and fries. It was good, but not near as good as something from my back yard.
  14. Dang now I'm going to have to go to Five Guys tomorrow on my lunch break.
  15. Its a little thrown together and scatterbrained but this is whats going to happen to the cube tank for the overflow and returns.
  16. Thats what I was thinking might work, do the flat overflow across the entire back of the tank and then on the intake side of the durso just put a bulkhead screen or something. What I'm debating on doing now is moving the overflow wall on the back of the tank up just a bit so it covers the return pipes as well and then just incorporate the returns into the overflow wall. Might be kind of cool, I can make the closed loop a little more effective by splitting it into multipe returns and the tank more attractive by hiding the tubes.
  17. Sealing the tank is easy, buy an acrylic tank and a piece for the lid, drill holes insert plactic screws and small piece of acrylic to make toggle latches that hold the lid down.
  18. Its hit an miss, there is a place call OM Seafood on Powell that had live saltwater eel for sale. Not Morays, not sure what species, ugly, but still cool. I picked up a cool rock fish for $5 the other day, and they almost always have snails and abalone.
  19. (clap)Ooooooooo that may be the way to go, much less work, and a much cleaner look. I wouldn't need the teeth either and it wouldn't take up that much real estate in the tank since the back already has returns plumbe up through the bottom and the durso will be back there too.
  20. My big concern about a zero edge overflow is that I will have Catalina gobies in the tank and dont want them constantly getting sucked over. It's not likely that they would spend that much time near the overflow, but dont want to take the chance of them going over and into the tank in the garage. The drain on the overflow will have a durso on it so it should be fairly quiet.
