BTW I looked at the cleaner pic again, and it looked like their might be some eggs under there..?? Possible?
  2. I just tossed them back in. TY ! =)
  3. Yeah, hard shell on back. But the tongs kinda tore the mantle a little around the shell. :( (The one on top, in the photo, is the worst. The other one underneath isn't torn so much). They seem to be moving around the cup OK so maybe I should just put them back in the tank....? Dangit, I was trying to be safe rather than sorry. DOH!
  4. Oh crap. SAFE? bummer Well, can they survive a break on their back tissue or are they destined to die? IE, should I put them back into the tank or not? THNX for the quick reply. I was having a coronary
  5. Out of absolute FEAR of the unknown, I plucked them both out of the tank before they could get away. They were moving behind the rocks and I had to do it now or miss the chance. I used tongs to remove them, which unfortunately ripped open their backs a tad, which prob means death is imminent. Couldn't be helped. OOPS if they're good, but I was freaking out. BTW they flattened out and were sticking to those rocks with a deathgrip. Hard to get them off. I have them in a little cup of salt water until I get a verdict on the ID. They're definitely nudis of some kind, black not purple. Oh god PLEASE tell me they aren't horrible, because if I have two big ones, I probably have a thousand more in there somewhere. (scary) *fingers crossed*
  6. (scary) Oh god. They're DEFINITELY moving. They've both moved.
  7. I don't remember seeing these this morning, but right now there are TWO of them:eek: in very shady spots, both about 2"L. I'd really like to hear that they're lovely dark shrooms ..but.. I might be crazy, but it seems like they might be slowly moving... ?? PLEASE tell me it's at least a nice reef-safe slug. (scary) Those are the best pics I could get of them since they're in dark spots. They look very dark purple, almost black.

Thank you! It's a Nikon AF Nikkor 28-105mm. I really like it, but I'd go one step up if I were you. This is THE closest I could zoom in with it, and I'd like to get much closer detail on the polyps. I might get the 18-200mm..? Just a thought.

  11. Excellent photos! Great resolution on the tank shots. =)
  12. Wow. Amazing shots. I can't ever get things that sharp when I'm trying to get close fine detail. Pics look GREAT!

    Chicago Aquarium

It looks amazing. How does the chicago aquar compare to the OCA overall? Those blue shrooms in the third pic look ginormous. Love the pics!
  15. I can't ever get used to those trade names. Cracks me up. (laugh) Eagle eyees, whammin watermelons, baby back blues, purple people eaters... lol ...gorilla nipples?? I'd like to shake the hand of the person that came up with that gem. Who looked at some zoas one day and thought, "Hey! Those remind me of gorilla nipples!" ? Who would know gorilla nipples that intimately anyway? No...wait...don't answer that.... I don't wanna know. (whistle)

Mine was one of the first inverts I put in when I set up last year. Never saw him again. Had hopes when we drained the tank after the crash, but never found him.:( Some time around Christmas, I spotted him and couldn't believe he was still alive in there. I assume he must've been hiding in the LR. Sturdy little bugger. Nyles is right about the hiding tho, but mine doesn't come out as often as 3wks. Mine's more like every 3mos. After Christmas, I've only spotted him once, briefly, one night in March under moonlites...then again when I took this pic the other day. TWO sitings so far in 2007. DOH! Due to the rarity of seeing him, I get ridiculously excited when he re-appears--I sit and stare at him, take tons of photos, excitedly post these silly threads.... It's like spotting Loch Ness.(whistle)

    New Tank

I really like the way you set up your rocks, esp the cave! I love crevices and holes in rock set-ups. Can't wait to see how you plan to set up the frags in there (clap)
  18. I use the large nylon filter socks. I have two so every week I switch them out and wash the filthy one. I wash it by itself, small load, hot water, a TBL or so of bleach (no detergent), extra rinse cycle. Works great for me!

After many moons MIA, Oscar has finally reappeared (I love watching this little bugger. Wish he wouldn't hide all the time.)
  20. Wow! I LOVE that bubble. I have macro in my tank, too, but nothing as cool-looking as that You got me to thinking that I should take a gander at other, more interesting macro options... Looks nice! (clap)

I can't ever get go photos of my tank. Those aren't bad at all! I like them! Sweet ! =)
  22. BEAUTIFUL! I had no idea coldwater could be so interesting. I was under the impression that it's very limited except for inverts. Boy was I WRONG! That's impressive!! (clap)
  23. Angus, are you of Scottish descent? Just wonderin' ... Good strong name!
