Free Niger to anyone who'll come get him... It's developed a taste for chasing my cardinals, but it doesn't bother any of my other fish, corals or inverts. I <3 my cardinals and want it GONE. (flame) Niger's already in the fish trap, ready to go to a new home. We're in Salmon Creek WA (N Vancouver), right by the onramps for 5 and 205. I have a very small SLF I added a few wks ago. I thought I found it dead but it might just be the molt. The carapace was hollow and clean but the legs were still attached, so I didn't hold out much hope. Here's what I got out of the tank this morning...

How can you tell if a crab shell is just the molt or if the crab actually died?

I have an MRC MR-2 and I LOVE it. It's a skimming machine. Highly recommend if you have the space for it.

How many inches is she? She looks huge - like 5-6" I have a Nikon D70 and a macro lens, neither of which I've EVER been able to learn how to use, even by reading the manual. I hate it. I need to take a camera class or something. Your pics look GREAT

I'm sorry to hear that. Mine is totally blind in its left eye. It can still see in its right, but it spends most of the time with its head barely visible from its little hole. I'm glad your fish is still alive! And the galaxea will recover... We all loose things sometimes.

Ever notice that EVERY time you call Neptune you get the same guy? Is he the whole company? Maybe the whole company is really just him, in his basement, building controllers all day like a mad scientist.

I sent my 3 non-working probes back to Neptune. They replaced two of them with brand-new ones. I wanted to give them credit on this thread for their service--they replaced two of the probes free of charge and in one day. Surprise, surprise, the third probe--ORP--"wasn't their brand" .. I was like "Huh?" I'd specifically given Woody a list of the probes I wanted from Neptune (THEIR lab-grade probes) and we were charged accordingly, but now I find out that he used a cheaper Pinpoint for the ORP. It's never worked, for whatever reason. Shame on ME for not checking everything carefully when we took possession. I didn't know I needed to check, this being my first reef tank. Another lesson learned! So the ORP probe wasn't a bad Neptune product after all and the other two are now brand-new.

Nothing got into the trap last night. Scallop is still untouched and it's empty. Darnit. Maybe the molt was old and it just got loose? ..Maybe it belonged to that mantis I killed many weeks ago, and it just now got pushed out of a crevice by a shrimp or something... I'm working hard on this delusion. (crazy)

Your tank looks gorgeous! What kind of camera are you using? I can't get any decent photos with either of my digital cameras :( Your resolution and color saturation are right on. I love your big tomato. How big is she? I never noticed before how blackened the body becomes... It's a nice contrast. Is she relatively nice in the tank? Can't wait to see more pictures...soon...
