  1. You are welcome. Glad someone could use it. Great to meet you. B
  2. I went up to Katz this morning and picked up the sand from her tank. Thank you Kats!(clap) I have about 5 gallons (50-70 lbs?) in a bucket I can't use. she said it was taken out of the tank yesterday, so I'm sure there's still lots of life in it. Not sure how much die off there will be (it didn't stink tonight when I put it in the tank), but I need it to cycle my new 55 gal setup anyway. Pm me, and we can meet up after work if anyone wants it. I'd hate to see it go to waste. Bobby
  3. I'm going to be setting up a new system soon. I'd be interested. If Jadams7 needs some for his refugium, I'll take whats left. I'll PM you my number Bobby
  4. Another thumbs up from me too! The kenya looks awesome, the toadstool is one of the greenest I've ever seen and the firefish is spectacular. I still can't believe its in my tank.(clap) That is the first one I've seen for sale locally in 10 years of saltwater fishkeeping. another huge thanks to John for driving to Cornelius on a rainy Monday night to haul a tank for me and for toting my firefish back from Garrett's with you today. You rock(rock2) Garrett, you need to put this guy on the payroll. He's an awesome sales rep. Peace, B
  5. Here's a link to the ad. I don't have room for a flame angel or I'd be on it. http://eugene.craigslist.org/zip/1663999973.html Just a heads up for anyone interested:D Mods, feel free to move this to the appropriate section if it doesn't belong here B
  6. Thanks all! I PMd you Newfisher and Garret. Didn't really think I'd find one of these locally. Bonus! B
  7. I may just have to make some time for this. Be nice to put some faces with names:D B
  8. As the title states. Looking for sm.-med. in size. Figured I'd check here before ordering one. Thanks, B
  9. Thanks Algae:D Here's a quick pic
  10. After a few years away from the hobby, I've been bitten by the bug again. Picked up a used 12 gal aquapod this weekend. Unfortunately my rental agreement says I can't have anything larger(nono), so it'll have to do for now. Just some LR, a clownfish, a couple of sexy shrimp, and a couple of softies in it right now. It shouldn't take long to fix that(plotting). Anyway, I just wanted to say hello. I'll post a couple of pics when I get a little free time. B
  11. LMAO FLY! You are probably right though. How's life treating you these days? Well, I hope. Tanks doing well? Talk soon, B
  12. This is bad........... I find myself looking at pics of tanks and drooling. I think I'm getting the bug again(scary) Anyway how's everyone been? I see lots of new faces. I miss all my fish buddies(sad) I haven't been doing much. Crashed the motorcycle in oct., did physical therapy for my neck for awhile, and have to have a miniscus (knee) surgery soon. Still riding(rock2) I've been riding it around without the fairings since after the accident, but I'm tearing it down this week for a rebuild/repaint that is gonna be wicked. the funny part about the accident is, after I crashed I didn't want to come home and tell the wife I wrecked the bike-at all(wife) so we duct taped the bike back together, and I finished the 140 mile ride (injured), then came home to tell her(laugh) I'm about to plunk down some major cash to fix the bike......sure wish it was going to another salwater setup. Anyway, Just thought I'd stop in and say hi. Hope everyone is well. There are too many names to list, but you know who you are. And I swear Bill (FLY GUY), I'm still gonna get over there and do some fishing sometime. Talk soon, Bobby
  13. Don't worry, Bill. I'll be over there to fish BEFORE she gets paint;) I just had to get the mech. stuff dealt with. I'm still trying to get out of here to the coast. Every day, something else comes upDOH! How is the baby doing??? Nyles, that's cool! We'll definately have to ride when you get another bike. I hooked up with a local sportbike website, and you wouldn't believe how many are around:eek: They all get together at W. 11th Papa's pizza on thursday nights. The first night I went there must have been 50 bikes there. Went on a short ride with 15-20 bikes out fox hollow and back last night......Big fun!!!!!(clap) B
  14. Hey all! Just sitting here catching up on what everyone is up to. Really haven't thought about tanks since I got my bike. Been busy going through it and fixing all the little things that need attention. Pretty much got it all done except paint. I'll tear it apart this winter and put a sick paint job on it, as well as have the frame chromed.(drooler) Yes...... it's fast. No Jay.......you can't ride it!(laugh) I do have an extra full face helmet you can have for those very dangerous trips on the bicycle though:D What is that all about man????(scratch) Well, I just wanted to say hi to everyone. Miss this site and all the people on it.(sad) Here's a pic of the beast. Bobby
  15. DITTO!!!! Happy B-DAY!!!!!!! Make Jay do all the tank maint. today. (naughty) Enjoy your day. Bobby
  16. Liquid sunshine had a 40 gal cube and stand when I was in there saturday. Might give them a call, and see if they still have it. Bobby
  17. Your wife's right. It is funny........Till you're the guy gettin clowned by a little fish or mantis shrimp. I've spent more than one night falling asleep in front of a tank waiting to pull the string. Bobby
  18. Glad to hear you caught it. Stinkin damsels. I had a similar experience this week. Decided to swap out my false perc. clownfish for a true perc that may have some interest in my bubble tip anemone. I had no idea how difficult that fish would be. I literally chased that thing around the 120 gal for an hour, cursing, and splashing water everywhere. I finally gave up. Tried the 2 liter bottle with food, nuthin! Finally I remembered something I read somewhere about catching a fish right after the lights come on, before their eyes have time to adjust. The next morning I had wifey grab a flashlight and wait for me to get ready. She turned the flashlight on him, and scoop- it was over. But I still had to get the other one out of the 18 gal. to make the switch. I thought there was no way it would be that easy twice. IT WAS!!!!!!! Had both fish out of their tanks in less than 4 minutes(clap). You'd think I just netted a grizzly bear, rather than a couple of 1 inch fish. It just felt really good to tell the fish "in your face, fish!!!!!!"(nutty) I may have even said something about garlic and butter in the heat of the moment. Anthias would be cool. Or 4-5 purple firefish, or a few helfrich's firefish (but they're SPENDY). Oh wait..... I think you need a false perc., I just happen to have one:D LOL Later, Bobby
  19. Thanks Michael! For the sake of the fishes, I hope no one needs it. But like I said, It's there if they do. Just trying to give back. I've had a lot of help from others in the hobby, so I gotta give some back, ya know? Peace, Bobby
  20. It's out again, cannot get a pic of it to come out for anything. Must've taken 50. It's just so small it wont show up on my old camera. I'm looking for batteries for a flashlight so I can surprise it, and at least get a look. I'll keep trying to get an image, but I don't think it'll happen. Peace, Bobby
  21. I had to set up a 10 gal tank to treat my copperband with copper last week for a whole 12 hours. Seems a shame for it to sit in the garage. Hopefully no one will need it. But if someone does, it's here and You're welcome to borrow it. It would at least save ya a few bucks. Lemme know if ya need it. Peace. Bobby
  22. My camera is about 5 years old. It was very nice-for back thenDOH! Well, I'll keep trying for a pic. I'm just glad it was still out when my wife got up. At least someone else saw it and I'm not seeing things. I kept looking around outside the tank to see where the reflection was coming from because there was no way that was IN the tank.(scratch) I'd try to snatch it out, but I'm afraid of killing it. Hmmmm...... Bobby
  23. Well, It's been covered already, but WELCOME!!!!! Great bunch of people here! Always someone willing to help in any way they can. And it's better than the rest of the sites out there cause it's mostly locals. Oh yeah, Enjoy that kid, They get big and mean before ya know it;) Seems like yesterday I was learning to change a diaper. Now it's nine years later- He's almost five feet tall and looks at me like I'm a mental case every time I try to talk to him-LOL Peace, Bobby
  24. Welcome Matty! Sounds like you are on the right track. Other hobbiests and books have been the two best resources I've found over the years, so use 'em alot:D I wish I had done a lot more research when I started. It would have saved me ALOT of money and just as much grief. Only thing I can add to the previous posts is if you are going to get a skimmer stay away from the fission nano skimmer. I've never even heard about one working, let alone seen one work. I think aqua c has a nano version now. I currently don't run a skimmer on my 18, just a small W/C every week seems to keep things in check. Hope this helps, Bobby
  25. Hey all! Sometimes I deal with insomnia and it bites, but today it was a good thing! I went to check the tank temp at 2:30 am, and saw a glowing worm on the LR:eek: In all the years I've been staring at saltwater systems, I've never seen anything like it. It's about half the diameter of a pencil lead, and about a quarter inch long, and glows the same color as a green glowstick. Very slow moving. I tried to get a pic, but no luck. I was so amped about finding it, I immediately got online and started trying to find something written about it. All I could find was about tiny starfish that occasionally come in on LR from mexico-nothing else. Anyone else seen these? I was so exited, I rushed my wife as soon as she got up, telling her "you have to come see this!!!!" This was a VERY BAD IDEA!!!!! I love my wife dearly, but even she will tell you I was risking getting a pot of hot coffee in the face by coming at her like that at 4:30 in the morning (she's NOT a morning person. I ususually wait at least a half an hour to talk to her about anything) She's the sweetest person I've ever met the rest of the time, just not till she's woken up fully. Well it must have been as cool as I thought, cause I'm still here. And she even seemed pretty impressed by it (she doesn't share the level of enthusiasm that I have for the hobby). Just had to share this with everyone. Just when you think you've seen it all............ Bobby
