  1. liveaquaria.com I had been waiting for about 6 months for a couple stores trying to order them in. When they came available online I jumped on em
  2. what size do you need? I have a few extra that I wont be needing for my Kalk reactors
  3. I hear pasta swells and breaks the rock, and it leaves nutrients in it, I've done it with and without rock salt (about 1/3 to just under 1/2 of the mix was salt) and the rock salt stuff is doing much better in my tanks, its covered in pods, sponges, tunicates, coralines, and worms and all that stuff, but the stuff without it only has coraline, since nothing can get into it to grow
  4. OMG, my nephew has one, it's so much better than any other video game EVER! I hate how with other games your just sit on the sofa and wiggle your thumbs, but with Wii you really get into the games
  5. No rock salt for to make the rock more porus?
  6. and all the spores in the air would end up in the tank anyway.
  7. Hey, have you read "Natural Reef Aquariums" by John Tullock? He goes through a pretty thurough but easy to follow explanation of what to look for in lighting and what you need by means of out put for general "brightnesses". Its worth the read. Check out the local reef stores, and surf through pics on reef sites and online stores like liveaquaria.com, scientificcoral.com and reefermadness.us, find a short list of corals you like and want to keep and research them and thier needs. I would suggest though, since its your first reef, get a hood that is large enough to house halides, but start out with VHO's, you should be able to keep mushrooms, xenia, zoanthids and few other low light tolerant corals. I know you want shimmer lines (we all do!) but you can start a basic tank, save up the money for the really nice Metal halide lights, get used to the care of it and get get a feel for the parameters and what effects them. Then after everything becomes stable and you see growth and reproduction of the corals, spring for the halides, and you can just use the VHO's that you had in the hood for your actinic lighting, and if you got a hood big enough for the halides, you can just retrofit them in. Check out the local corals and those sites though, find the species you really want, the ones that make you want to tank so bad it hurts, and look into their requirements. And try to start off with something that can be modified with the needs of your tank, remember our reefs are VERY dynamic.
  8. drsfostersmith.com no extra weight fees, aragamax (oolitic aragonite) is the same stuff as southdown
  9. oh I forgot, and under those there is the goblins and ghouls... and columbus' ship right and the site where they faked the moon landing?
  10. They sell on ebay too when they have too much, I've seen these 50 pound cases go on there for about 80 bucks
  11. Oh, I did forget them, they have AWESOME dry rock, if you don't mind a little extra cycling time
  12. similar to what I ran on my nano, just bigger, those are great lights, too bad the tank I need light on is 48"
  13. Funny, I was talking about the Aqua medic "sexy light" right, because thats what the link took me to, but thats not what the top of the link says? marinedepot links can be weird
  14. If I had the money right now I totally would! Too bad, you'll probably be up for the meeting too. Dang
  15. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17189132/ Funny, I thought this would be obvious? I thought that I should post this pic with it too... This picture I took with one of those cheap "water proof" one use cameras just off the coast due west of this artificial "reef".
  16. Hey fly, how did you like the light? I was thinking about getting the same one
  17. thatpetplace.com, I got an order of the solomon rock, its AWESOME great shape great sizes (very very little rubble maybe a pound total rubble) and not all gross and rotten like some i've gotten. It was 40-45 pounds at about $5/pound including shipping
  18. SOOO many people asked me to sell it before, I figured this was the best way when I decided to, just post it and let whoever sees it first... if you really want one I can check to see if I've got another, I think I might have one hiding with the mother
  19. well, whats under the elephants and the turtle then?
  20. Ours is how we describe our last names to people so they can spell them. Always have to tell people "Young, like not old, not Yung" and "Browne, with an 'e' not brownie"... Who knew young and browne were unusual names!
  21. Yeah, I thought it would be nice to have the two, but this other one just sits there and does nothing but take up space, while my acros are growing like crazy and I need the room
  22. I just don't need two, and the clown only likes the hidden one, so its just taking up too much space, my tank is PACKED with the frags I got from Jody
  23. oh, and I'm not using a hood on this tank, I want to be able to look down into it at the clams and things
  24. I've always done used and retro stuff, I want something pretty to look at on the new tank. Its going to be in the only room in my house thats actually finished and the way I want it, so I want it to look as good as the rest of the room. BTW, I just got a shipment of the most amazing solomon rock from thatpetplace.com, best rock I've ever seen! no rubble just great rock.
