  1. Here is some info that might help:

If windows is running you can start it by going to Programs, Acer Empowering Technology and run the Acer eRecovery Management. Note that on the bottom of the eRecovery Management window are 3 choices, Backup, Burn Disk and Restore. Click on Restore. Here you have the choice of select Restore System to Factory Default.

If windows is not working but the system boots -

Reboot the system and when the Acer logo appears, hold down the ALT key and press F10. This starts the recovery process, just follow the instructions.

  2. I have an emachines disk for my laptop.

Can you contact the maker of your laptop and have them send you a replacement disk?

Without a disk, you'll have to find someone with a full version of whatever OS you want to install.

Once you have that, it's very easy. Just pop it in the drive and start your computer, and follow the prompts.

  3. Can anyone recommend a magnet cleaner with a thin inner part for a 1/2" thick glass aquarium?

I have a Magnavore, which is great, but too thick to get past some of the corals/rocks.

Was looking at the Mag-flip, but that's only good for glass up to 3/8".

Is there anything like it for thicker glass?

  4. Thanks for the links!

You assume right and I've spend many hours reading up on this. :)

Apart from adding vinegar, soda water, or aeration, and water changes there doesn't seem to be much else.

Fortunately, my corals seem to like the higher pH, and everything in that tank is doing very well.

Wish I could find out some reason for the change, though.

It's a lot easier to battle low pH, apparently.

  5. I've been having high pH issues for some time, and my probe tests out fine in the 7 and 9 pH solutions.

Mine gets as high as 8.75, but the corals and fish seems to like it just fine.

At night it drops to about 8.4.

And that's with a calcium reactor and a nitrate reactor running, which both knock don the pH level, so I don't want to know what it would do without.

When I started the tank, I had a hard time keeping the pH up, but after about a year, the pH slowly started getting higher.

Apart from more aeration, there doesn't seem to be much that can be done.
