  1. I thought that might be the problem, and that's why I changed out the bulb.

The new bulb definitely doesn't have any cracks (the old one was kind of milky looking), but it's been a few months, and things have not improved.

  2. I have a calcium reactor on a pH controller on the tank, though since there are no longer any sps corals in the tank, I'll probably take that off soon.

pH is between 8-8.2, alk is at 10.

  3. I don;t know if anyone remembers, but last December, I had a strange event happening in my 60G cube (water turned pink, corals unhappy, then seemingly things recovered after massive water changes, carbon etc.).

Ever since, I can't keep sps corals alive in that tank.

They start out doing great and even grow a little, but then slowly start dieing from the tips down.

If I take the coral out when there is still sufficient tissue alive and put the in my 120G, they recover and do well again.

All softies and LPS, fish, snails, crabs are doing fine in the tank, and parameters check out fine, but it's a death trap for sps.

Does anyone have any ideas what the cause could be, and what I could test for that's beyond the usual tests (ammonia, nitrite/trate, calcium, alk, magnesium, phosphates, temp, pH)?

The only other thing I have changed since is the MH bulb, but the issue was happening before then.

  4. I have a coralife turbo twist 9W says it rated upto 125 gallons if your interested ill do trading strait accross

May I ask how old the bulb is on that one, and how old the uv sterilizer is? No leaks, right?

Straight across trade sounds good, definitely.

Question if I may' date=' how often do you or where you changing out your bulbs on the sterilizer?[/quote']

I think you are supposed to change them every 6 months, but I was letting mine run longer (about a year).

  5. Ideally, I'd need the 40w, but realistically, I'd probably have to settle for the 25w.

And I should have mentioned that what I have to trade is all corals, not equipment. Not sure what you are looking for.

I've got several different zoanthids (AOGs, Green Bay Packers, various others), candy cane, hammer, leathers, ricordia...

SPS: various encrusting montis, branching montis, monti caps (incl. Tyree pink polyped and baby blue polyped), Oregon tort, milles, acros, birdsnests etc.

  6. Wish I could say this about mine!

I had to send mine in because one of the ballasts was causing the GFCI to trip shortly after I bought it.

I wonder if they didn't put it together right, and I can't remember if the light was doing the rattling before that, or not.

It seems to be getting worse (lasting longer), and I hope it's not a ballast problem.

  7. Every time a set of bulbs turns on/off, the fixture makes this annoying rattle for what seems like ages!

I assume it's the metal expanding/shrinking, and I tried tightening all the screws, but some of them are stripped and can't be tightened, and I haven't been able to find replacement screws that fit.

Does anyone else have that problem with their fixture?

Maybe I'm just overly sensitive (my husband is sitting right next to the tank and isn't bothered at all!), but I want it to stop! NOW!(wife)(flame)
