  1. Since we're talking about clams, can we talk about Pyram or Pyramid snails? Has anyone on here had to deal with them? I've had a little problem with them, can't seem to eliminate them all. They don't seem to bother my Derasa or Gigas, just my two Croceas. I've done the remove clams from tank and brush the snails off thingie. I'm just wondering if there's something more I could do?
  2. I've had a bi-colored Blenny in my tank for over a year and half. I've never had a problem with it. That Blenny just munches on algae like it's supposed to.
  3. I don't have one yet, looked into them. Kind of spendy, I have it on the short list. There's one for sale on E-bay. Here's the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/Neptune-Systems-Aquacontroller-III-3-with-DC-8_W0QQitemZ110085842123QQihZ001QQcategoryZ117435QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  4. Welcome back Roy. I still have that MJ powerhead, if you still need it.
  5. Hey Jansen. Here's a link about the most common clam parasite. http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14161 You should look for them after lights out. They can be found up around the mantle on the outside of the shell, or down around the byssal tissue and in the sand under or around the clam. They suck fluids from the clams mantle. Whelks are another common parasite to clams.
  6. Maybe he just created this whole octopus story to attention, and have somethi9ng to post on the website. I think that a lot of people post just to raise their post count. It must make them feel important or something.
  7. Very cool. Nice pictures. Have fun honing your parenting skills.
  8. I have to back out also, sorry guys.
  9. Put me down for one 50# bag.
  10. And the great metal halide vs. T-5 lighting debate rages on. Nothing beats the shimmer of metal halides. =)

    bulbs

You should check prices locally, before you buy online. A couple of months back, I purchased an XM 10K bulb from a local store for $64.00. I just called around and got the best price, installed the bulb that day.
  12. I never noticed that at first.
  13. 12 hours actinics. 10 hours metal halides. 8 hours moon lights
  14. Excellent. He needs to get into reef tanks, he has to much time on his hands.
  15. I have a Pacific Blue and a Sailfin tang, which were placed in my tank on the same day. The Blue was the last fish in. They seem to get along okay. Blue is a bully, but the sailfin holds it's own in the "Tang-go" dance. It's top fin has a bite taken out of it at least once a month.
  16. Algae need nutrients and light to grow. It doesn't seem likely that your salt mix is the problem. I use instant ocean in my tank without any problems.....knock on wood.
  17. I would start with water changes, and decrease your photo period. Reduce your feeding of your fish to every three days, and manually remove as much hair algae as humanly possible.

    Crab ID

It doesn't look very reef friendly. I would keep him in my sump until I could get a positive ID on what it is.
