  1. This kind of open discourse is what makes this site so good. Anywhere else and you guys would have been banned, and the thread closed. Let's hear it for the mods, or....er...the lack of them.=)
  2. It's Monday night, after 8:00pm. Isn't anyone in a good enough mood to sit and chat?
  3. I agree with the cost of admission being too steep for the average Joe, I feel the same way you do. I think we should forget about the cost and pool our efforts towards more important things that we have some control over.
  4. Over the top returns work just as well. The canopy or hood will hide them.
  5. Wow.....I can't believe we're still quibbling over a few dollars for the cost of admission. I'm sure there must be far more important issues to discuss about this event?
  6. So far my water parmeters are fine. The skimmer went nuts. I have a water change planned for today.
  7. Today the same clam released a ton of eggs, or at least that's what they looked like to me. As that was happening the smaller of the two croceas started spewing what I think could only be sperm into the water. My tank water was almost milky, it looked like it was full of micro bubbles. Everything had extreme PE, even the sun corals polyped out. I wasn't able to get any real good pictures of the egg release, but I'll post what I have. I did get a shot of the smaller clam adding to the mix.
  8. One of my clams having a good time.
  9. Yeah I thought it was a Deltec, the guy I got it from didn't know. It's older, and it needs new impellers. there are no cracks or any other type of damage. I never had it set up in a system. I ran it in a rubbermaid container of tank water for a half hour to make sure it worked, it worked. If you want to see it run just come on over I'll stick it in a container and let you watch it skim.
  10. For sale one well used BX-2 skimmer. Mfg by D.A.S., which stands for Dutch Aquarium Systems. This skimmer is a generic Deltec turbo skimmer the only difference is this skimmer doesn't have any mfg marking on it, and the pumps are marked DAS instead of aquabee. I believe DAS gets their parts from Deltec, but I could be wrong(wouldn't be the first time). The pumps need new impellers which cost $44.00 each. This skimmer is an in sump only. Here's a link to a site that sells this skimmer and replacement parts: http://stores.petorama.net/Categories.bok?category=Aquarium+Supplies%3APumps%2FFilters I want $200.00 for the skimmer, I'm out in Newberg.
  11. I would gladly forward any monies that you wish to donate to "Ineedanotherfrag/mytanklooksbare.org"
  12. I was just poking fun at you for not making it to any of the meetings. =)
  13. This is a spendy hobby, and I'm really cheap. I buy pretty much everything used, or build it myself. However I wouldn't have a problem spending $15.00 to attend this function. Brandon, you never attend any meetings anyway. I bet you the cost of admission that you don't even go to this event.;-)
  14. My girlfriend watches that show. It reminds me of Gilligan's island.
  15. Excellent DIY venturi. Nice and cheap. Good job Andy.
  16. Since the site was down on Monday night. How about Tuesday night chat?
  17. It's too bad trigger fish are so iffy in a reef tank. They are very cool fish, with really entertaining antics
  18. Green bubble tip. I have three of them now. My clowns host in one, and I have an anemone crab in the second. The third is down on the rocks and impossible to remove from the tank without tearing apart the aquascaping.
  19. I don't know if they can stop their splitting or cloning of themselves. I do know I wish mine would stop splitting itself. I always worry it will end up in the closed loop intake, or on top of an SPS colony.
  20. Thanks Nyles. I currently have a six lined wrasse, he doesn't seem to be doing his job very well(it's probably not in his union contract). I'll just keep cleaning the snails off. On a side note. I had to burp one of my clams yesterday, after he was out for his snail cleaning routine. I don't know if he would have expelled the air by himself or not. But I'm glad you mentioned it earlier in this thread. Thanks.
