  1. Sorry did not see he had a gauge set. In that case, does it have an elctric solenoid? If not, you can buy one. THe PH controller has an outlet on it to plug it into, it will turn off and on depending on your set points. In effect, allowing Co2 in the reactor or stopping it.
  2. My results are the same as others, my fish love the Arcti-pods. I used the bottle of Tiger Pods to "seed" the 240. I think I will be buying more of the Arct-pods when the time comes.
  3. You will need a Co2 tank and a regulator with a solenoid. Her is a link to what I have. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=CO3111 Shawn
  4. I have a dart for my return pump and I can say it is the quietest most efficient pump I have ever used.
  5. Nice pics. What camera and lens are you using? I am thinking about the 100mm macro for my Canon.
  6. I do not know of anywhere locally. What size and how many do you need? I think I might have a couple 3/4" ones, I will have to look.
  7. I use Pinnacle Studio. I have a Panasonic miniDV. It works great for file transfer and editing.
  8. Thanks for the quick reply. I managed to get it off while it was still in the bag. It was only out long enough to get it from the bag to the tank.
  9. Just as the title states. I just aquired an RBTA that is stuck to a large rock that I do not want in my tank. I would like to break off a smaller piece of the rock, but would like to do so outside of the tank. The RBTA would be out of the water less than two minutes. Will this cause any issues? Thanks, Shawn
  10. Put it in your oven for a few minutes to make it a little more plyable, then roll it out. Once it cools, it will hold its shape.
  11. This is what I had. blue subulata $10 neon green polyped, pink tipped porcillipora $10 porcilipora $5 stylopora $5 unknown acro (it's brown now, but the mother colony has green polyps with neon fluresent purple tips. Not like the bonsai.) Free w/purchase of all of these frags. green slimer $5 Shawn
  12. My vote would be for the Canon Rebel XT. I wnet back and forth over Canon and Nikon. I am very pleased with my Canon. Shawn
  13. I will take 2 of them. PM me a total. Thanks, Shawn
  14. Hey Joel, did you order an exact amount, or did you also get some for stok in the shop? I may be interested if there are 1 or 2 left over. Shawn
  15. Yes, I was referring to the Vortech. The controller is scheduled for early 07'. I can hardly wait! I think this will be the finishing touch on a great product. As for the motion, it is not like a wavebox, but it does create an over/undertow. In my 20g, it is centered on one end running at about 1/4 speed and as it is pushing water out the center, it is pulling water back in around the sides, in effect it has a strong undertow. In the 240, I am running one in each rear corner, the are attached to the back facing forward, approx 1/2 way doen a 26" deep tank. Currently the tank has no substrate in it but there is some debris from when I drilled my rock and from what I can tell, it is doing the same kind of undertow thing except much more random with the two in the tank, I am curious to see it with three. As it stands now at about 2/3 power, 1/2 way down in the tank, it creates a nice surface disruption. IMO if you are looking for ease of setup, then go Vortech, if you like to do plumbing then go with the OM. Either way, you will get great water movement. Shawn
  16. I have used several different things over the years. I would say you could not go wrong with any of the Ocean Motions products. I have owned a squirt, 4-way and an 8-way. There omni nozzels are also very cool. I had palnned to use the 8-way on my 240 but ended up selling it when the Vortechs came out. If you are not looking to buy today, I would say these would be a great solution for most any size tank. I have one on my 20 frag tank and two in the 240(the third will go in when I move the frags over to the main tank). They have had a few problems with the early production units, but I think they have got all the bugs worked out now. They move a ton of water. Hope this helps. Shawn
  17. I have one on my 240. It is the 3000 ricirc model. The thing is a beast. It is till breaking in, but I can't see any reason why it would not be a solid performer. Shawn
  18. Well all is back to normal. What is left is on the mend and showing some good polyp extension. It will take some time to regain all the color I am sure. I lost approx 50%, mostly the colonies with the exception of my scroll. Most all of the small frags survived. I ended up treating for flatworms and did an 80% water change. Come to find out, I had one snail that had died and was rotting in its shell. I am guessing this may have been what fouled the water, because it about knocked me over when it fell out of the shell. Although I have managed to do a good job keeping the water quality in check, I am so looking forward to the big tank being up and running, it should prove to be much more stable. I have also learned that no matter where the live stock comes from, ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS treat and quarantine new aquasitions. Thanks to all that helped with suggestions. Shawn
  19. Randy, if I were to do a search for those containers, what would it be. I think those are exactly what I am looking for. Also, what are the dims on those. Thanks, Shawn
  20. I contacted a stuctural engineer before setting up my 240. My house was built in 65' and they used 2x10's 16" o.c. The tank was to be set against an exterior wall so that helped, but I still needed to double up my joists for additonal support. Of course mine was over a finished basement and I could not just put jacks underneath.
  21. Well at this point, I have ditched a half dozen pieces as it did not appear they were savable. I want to thank everyone for there input and advice. I too thought I had a water quality issue and have been testing daily to try to address. I have yet to find anything seriously wrong, perams are listed below. Prior to this issue I was having trouble keeping alk and ph up but I have had that under control for a few weeks. In fact once I got all my perams stable seems to be when all of this started. I am using current Salifert tests, and have even replaced some just to be sure. As of now, I have ditched the worst of the bunch and did a large water change last night, and will do so every other day to hopefully rectify this unknown issue. I will also get some flatworm exit and see if that erradicates the flatworms. Cal-425 alk-8.2 amoinia-0 nitrite-0 nitrate-0 phosphate-0 ph-8.1-8.3 magnesium-1450 Shawn
  22. I can assure you she is nowhere near as upset as I am. I would say I have learned a valuable, albiet expensive lesson in all of this. Always no matter what, inspect and treat all livestock prior to going into any tank. My last run at this taught me the importance of stability and husbandry, something I learned well. Unfortunetly, you can be extremely regimented on your husbandry but all it takes is an accidental introduction of a tainted specimen and the damage is done far to swiftly.
  23. The skimmer is pulling out some real nasty stuff. It seems to work well although it is a pain to adjust and if you turn it off, it seems to take a couple of days to stop passing bubbles through the outlet.
  24. Here are some clearer photos. Thanks drock59 for the tip on photo posting. I plan on adding sand after I make sure the rock is done shedding. I ended up drilling and using zip ties on everything. I need to trim a few pieces still.
  25. Here are some photos of the carnage.
